Karen pays a little more attention during ‘The Merger’
(Please note: despite my terrible description above, this is JAM-centric)
She might be in second place, but Karen Filippelli is no loser. If the film crew can call Pam and Jim out on their relationship in “Fun Run”, this doesn’t completely suspend disbelief… An AU take on “Back From Vacation,” wherein Jim receives some insight from an unlikely source.
“Are you free for dinner tonight?”
“Yes.” Her reply is immediate, eager, completely certain. He sees her, truly sees her, sees her eyes taking him in and her hands clenched in her lap and her hair the same way it has been every day that he has known her.
“Then it’s a date.” It is the most important thing in the world that he clarifies this last piece of information, that she knows what she is getting into. He is almost prepared to hear her recant, to take back her single syllable and tuck it away for someone else. But she doesn’t.
Dear friends, may I present a short collection of events taking place during and after the events depicted in ‘The Job’ (S3) detailing Jim’s break-up with Karen and his first date with Pam. Get excited for some angsty monologuing from Jim, some indignant Karen and some super fluffy adorable first-date non-canon content.
The only thought fixed in his mind is how easy he and Pam have landed into that comforting, exciting place of banter and pranks and how he never ever wants to leave it again.
Pam is jinxed and Jim knows he has to take this chance.
Set during season 3.
The crew that is going to film them around the office has arrived and Jim realizes things are going to change... and he has to do something about it.

It’s the ten year anniversary of Stress Relief and all the love floating around Twitter over the past couple of days got me thinking – what if the fire “drill” at the beginning of the episode had taken place in Season 3 instead. Set sometime between The Merger and Phyllis’ Wedding.
