Poor dead Karen. Hee.
This is gorgeous. Your descriptions are beautiful- really evocative without overpowering what you're trying to say. And this is the best description of Roy possibly in all of fic: He’s not all bad, really, just not all right, either.
Simply beautiful. Wouldn't it have been nice had it happened this way? But I like how it all worked out for real, too. I'm so glad I came across this!

Oh, that was beautiful. I think the Roy/Pam stuff was nicely handled (poor Roy: “I’ve changed, Pam—I have." Ouch), and the simple holding each other at the end was very sweet and hopeful.
Oh, yes! I'm so glad to hear the ending worked out well for everyone. I worried that people might not be satisfied with just the holding onto each other, but I thought it was what you said it was -- simple and sweet and hopeful.
Thanks for your thoughtful comment!

That was absolutely beautiful. Love this:
"I can’t,” she says, and her words are a puff of frozen moisture hanging between them. They remind her of a tall, crumbling man with green eyes, a fat tear creeping out of his eye.
Thanks for writing this.
Author's Response: Thank you for reading! I'm glad to hear you liked it. :)

she knows she would loosen her hold on him if only he would loosen his on her.
What a perfect, perfect line. It's so true- because neither of them ever can and never will. This is so beautiful. I want to live in your imaginary world, ok? (And Karen can be dead, if that's what it takes, hee).
Yay! I'm so happy someone grabbed onto that line. It was one of my favorites. And you're welcome to my imaginary world, where Karen is... um... *cough*
Thanks for the thoughtful comment!

The part with Pam and Roy was so painful and real, and I especially loved the Jim/Pam at the end which was also completely realistic and.. sigh :) What a wonderful read, I love your stuff.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I'm happy to hear you liked the story. :)

Then again, there’s something about the cold air on her neck and the way his beard casts shadows on his face that makes this a little less real than it is.
What wonderful imagery. This is so beautiful and sad, but not, because it's also hopeful and .... *sniffs for a second*
... you have their voices and them just down.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! So glad to hear you thought the characters acted and sounded like themselves. It's obviously what I'm always striving for, so it's so nice to hear you think it was in-character and realistic. Thanks again for the lovely comment!

So beautiful. The end left me smiling. It was just a little moment when they could both feel close and warm. It's just a moment, but it's hopeful. Thank you for writing this.
Author's Response: Thank you for reading (and commenting)! So happy to hear you liked the story.

That was beautiful--and the title fits it perfectly. Thanks for writing!
Author's Response: Thank you so much! The title was actually discovered accidentally by fireworkfiasco, one of my betas, and she was kind enough to let me use it. Glad you liked it and the story!

Eeee!! This is so amazing! I love that when she's with Roy, she has this desparate need to feel warm, and then when Jim is comforting her, she does feel warm, and he feels warm.
This story totally made me cry in the best way. Pam's pain is just so tangible, and I love how she finally lets it all out when she's with Jim. so beautiful!
Eek! I still have squee-attacks when readers tell me they get teary -- you have no idea the kind of compliment that is to me! So I'm sorry you were sad, but squee! So flattering.
As far as the warm thing goes, it wasn't entirely intentional as I was writing it, but I have this thing about being cold, and it really just came out in the story in a way that worked. Glad you (noticed! and) liked it.
Thanks for the lovely comment!

This is almost excruciating to read...but in a good way. :) I love, love love how vivid your descriptions are, like Her tears are warm in her eyes, sitting on the lower edge of her vision, a half-haze of wavering light. She presses her eyelids together and lets them spill out onto her cheeks. I'm sure we've all experienced this before but very few have thought to put it into words. Nicely done.
Author's Response: Thank you so much! I love to hear which lines really struck readers, so I appreciate you doing that. Really glad you liked the story! Thanks again for the lovely and thoughtful comment!

Ahhhhh. You kill me with your words. I do mean that in a good way. This story made me all fluttery and tense with all the Roy angst, crying Pam, and comforting Jim. Oh, these crazy kids.
Those crazy kids drive me out of my mind too. They need to just get it together! Or, in Jim and Pam's case, just get together period.
So happy to hear you liked the story -- thanks for the comment! :)

This was absolutely beautiful. If only something like this could have happened on the show instead of Pam going home with Roy. I love your version much, MUCH better.
Thank you so much! I have to say, if I may, that I much prefer my version too, if only because I wish we could have bypassed this whole falling-back-into-things-with-Roy. Alas. At least that's over with!
Thanks again! Glad you enjoyed.
