When I read this the first time when you first posted it, I didn't really get it, but now it has taken on a dreamlike, ethereal state for me which elevates it from sort-of-off to artistic.

Wow...I love this.  I love that Pam has the guts to leave like that and that they just leave for who knows how long. Great stuff.

Wow, that was bold.  In this case, bold is the right word.  That's a really interesting twist.

Beautiful prelude to West -- or, at least, that's how I see it. :)

As always, your writing basically hits me straight in the gut because it is so honest and realistic and evocative and wonderful and have I mentioned how much I love the way you use your dashes?  They add realism, of course, especially in dialogue, but I love them more particularly because they're used to kind of lead the reader forward, but then stop, like this is something too profound for words, but you know what I mean.

Just lovely.

This may be the most romantic thing ever. Jim's feelings - from nervousness to joy to how much he loves her - just pulse through the language.

Kisses her in that strange limbo between night and morning as the door closes behind them...

How exquisite that is. Loved this.

I have no idea where they are going, but I am glad they are.  Thanks for the little break in the angst!!!

Superb, as always. You don't write enough. Your work is crack cocaine to me, and I'm in withdrawal most of the time.

Much as I would like to quote every single line of this and point out how wonderful they all are, these particularly stand out:

her spiraling staircases of hair

It’s delicate, breakable.

he chuckles, always over romanticizing everything (how very Jim of him -- self-aware but still doing it)

I love how you compress so much into so few words. I love the silence between them speaking as loudly as their (few) words. I love the idea of an elopement--I think that after the disaster of her prolonged engagement to Roy and the chaos of her wedding planning, Pam would be relieved not to have to go through all of that again just to be with the man she loves.

Anyway, I could babble on forever in effusive praise, but I'll just end with a heartfelt thanks. This is going in my Favorites.

I've come to think of fanfic as everything that could have happened if they'd just taken a deep breath and let it.

This was so lovely.  Thank you!

So many beautiful phrases in this. Love the relative silence - anticipation, understanding, eggshell-treading.

Gorgeous, unfold, as usual.

This would have- oh. Yes.

The pain and joy here is so much bigger than what we have now. And it might be less realistic but it feels so much better. Thank you for a look back at the hope we used to have.
