It's been so long since this was written but I loved it too much not to comment. I felt this narrative deeply. The pain, the longing, the hope. Ugh, so incredible. Just lovely.

I really love the way you've used their connection here - lasting years after it should have faded.

This story was so good! Jim and Pam so obviously belong together and being apart just makes them unhappy. I love the happy ending and have to admit that I was a little sick reading that Jim married Karen. Overall, great job!

isn't fanfic the best way to 'study' for exams.
i loved the line - But logic had never played a big role in their lives; instead they lived their day-to-day based on obligation and guilt. so perfectly true for those two.

and it ends with amazingly happy jam in paris!!! wonderful

Okay this fic is haunting me, I've read it at least a few dozen times. It's incredible, I liked the Karen side story but did feel like I really needed to know the Jim/Pam side of the story. Its weird because I knew he was going to leave karen but then I was like seriously is he going to show up? And then he did! Some specific things that won't leave me alone are:

The he was going to leave Karen but then didn't have the strengh too, BROKE MY HEART!

The kiss in the elevator? Oh my good god I could almost taste the tears and I felt bad for Karen in that moment because she did know. And if it hadn't been for the other story i don't think I would have felt that.

The observation that it wasn't unrequited love, that they just couldn't seem to get it together in time. I felt that was a strong and completely possible end for them.

Pam's observation that they're grandkids will fall in love and Jim realizing that its not funny it just hurts.

The fact that she chases after him, because honestly I know we'd all like to be noble and not give in even though it will hurt worse in the morning, i think most people would and then it turns out thats the best mistake they can make.

His I can't realization, because its the first time leaving Karen really is a possibity to him. You can taste the broken hope.

And of course the happy ending, you start the fic feeling heavy angsty and end feeling lighter than air.

One thing I would have wished to see is the Jim/Pam side fo whne Karen comes to get him back/give him moving directions. But oh well, this fic haunts me enough as it is.

So keep up this amazing work, you have a lot of talent!

Author's Response: I am absolutely stunned! Thank you for such an absolutely amazing and thoughtful review! I really felt this story too, because somethimes you just know what you want, and for one reason or another it slips through your fingers and you always wonder what would you do if you got another chance. I for one would go for it with everything I had, and I think they would too. I also think Karen is literally blinded by her love for Jim and that the day she takes off those shades she's going to have to deal with a lot of hard truths. But again, thank you!!!! You have totally made my day in just Getting my story!

Oh, this was lovely, a nice balance of killer angst when they think it's not going to work out, and the sweetness of the happy ending. I love how even though Pam's a little worried that they won't be carefree and happy like that forever, she's excited about the idea of living an ordinary life with him too.

I read this, then of course had to re-read the other one!

I'm so glad you wrote the Jim and Pam half of this story.  I love to see this artist Pam of the future, and corporate Jim who doesn't really like being corporate Jim.  You did a great job rounding out these characters.

Now get back to studying!  Grades are important!

Wow -- so glad you wrote the sequel.  Just beautiful and painful all wrapped up in one.  A few favorite lines: There’s a reason they tell junkies to go cold turkey- because one taste is never ever enough. -- Suddenly this star crossed lovers bullshit isn’t so funny anymore.

Love the part about the start of their 'real lives', too.  Guh.

I loved seeing Pam blossoming, and I loved the romance of the visions of Jim and Pam in Paris.  Beautiful job. And good luck on the test! :)
