She goes to reception and pulls a spiral notebook from the very back of her bottom drawer, where she stores tampons and birth control pills to keep Michael from digging any deeper.

HEHE! Such a Pam thing to do, and such a Michael thing to be afraid of. Great start, I hope you write more.

Author's Response: Sorry! It was just a one-shot for hiatusathon. I don't have any more planned. Thanks so much for reading and commenting, Rowena!

I love the idea of a user's guide.  Really funny and touching

Author's Response: Thanks, Geinnob!

Really charming.  I love those little moments on the show where we see Pam's real affection for Michael, so this was like a whole fanfic's worth of those moments.

Author's Response: Thanks, ElizabethLynn!

Good job, this whole thing is really great.

Of course Michael gave himself a Dundie :D

Author's Response:

And I think he made Dwight present it to him, then acted all surprised when his name was called and cried during the acceptance speech.

Thanks for reading, quietdecember!

I very much enjoyed this glimpse of Pam and Jan interaction. I believe, as you seem to, that they both love him in their own way, and that they can be great co-conspirors to make him happy.

Author's Response: Thanks, Luna Mystik! I really believe that, as horrifying as Michael can be, Pam and Jan really do love him. Why else would they put up with the scary parts?

Oh, that was amazing! There's something just so charming about Pam keeping this record for her replacement, and I agree with her that His employees are his family. Treat them as such and he will respect you for it.' is probably the most meaningful thing to know about Michael Scott. And Jan's reaction to it is wonderful. I'm sure she has figured out a lot of it on her own, but I'm sure it would still be a good read for her!

Author's Response: Thanks, Semby! The manual makes sense, because how do you really train someone to work for Michael? It's so much more than answering the phones. And I think Pam would want to leave Michael in capable hands. Jan's manual, however, probably contains a lot of really disturbing information that Pam never needs to know.

First of all:  Can I please get a Fed Exed copy of the User's Guide, too?

Wow.  That was really amazing.  I stumbled over a couple of spots where it seemed the verb tenses were changing but honestly, I loved this.  I'm a major Jan and Michael fan anyway.  But it was so nice seeing Fancy New Beesely offering actual, real, constructive advice to Jan; they were on the same level as women, if not as co-workers.  And Michael does love his employees like family, such a profound revelation.

Author's Response:

Yikes, verb tense problems? If you have a minute sometime, I'd love you to point them out!

Thanks for commenting, belsum!

You know how much I adore that story, but I just had to reiterate that. :)  This is probably my favourite story you've ever written, and you're written so many great pieces. :)

Author's Response: Thank you soooooo much, MA!

Oh, this is just great!  Not only do we have Pam deciding to apply for the internship, but we have her bonding with Jan and showing her warmth and empathy.  I really like the 3 points you listed from the user's guide!

This was a lot of fun.

Author's Response: Thanks, Too Late Kev!

oh, that just made me all kinds of happy :) I really love a good Jan and Pam story; I like how you've made Jan relate to Pam in an intuitive kind of way...I hope that happens more on the show.

Author's Response: I actually really enjoyed writing them together. They're different in a lot of ways, but they both have common ground when it comes to figuring out how to handle Michael. Thanks, secondrink!

That one is Pam's favorite, because not everyone gets that about Michael. It's the key to dealing with him, really. The key to loving him. Which she does, in a weird, dysfunctional way.

Okay, that made me get all teary eyed. Seriously. You posted two fics in one night, and I read them back to back and I just. I just don't have words for how amazing this is. I love fics that a)go a little past the 'Michael's a  bumbling idiot' facet of his personality; b)show that Jan truly does care for him, if not love him, no matter how conflicted she may be about it; and c)explore Pam and Michael's relationship in a non-creepy way; this? Did al of that and more. I think this may be one of my favorite fics ever. Thanks so mych for writing it!

Author's Response: Thanks so much, starblossom56! I'm glad you liked it! Some of my favourite moments on the show are non-creepy Michael/Pam. And Michael is clueless, but lovable, or so I think.

If Jan were somehow to get the connection to Michael that Pam & Jim have with him, that would just break her brain.  And she'd become Jan Levinson-Scott in a heartbeat.  There is something under all the annoying....

Author's Response: I know, right? I think she's starting to get it, though, judging by their conversation in the car on the way home from the cocktail party. Thanks for commenting, lisahoo!

I realized after I read this again that I did a little Pam/Jan bonding in my hiatusathon story as well.  I think they are an interesting pair.  That's for such a believable interaction between them - it was fun!!

Author's Response: Pam/Jan bonding is the new black! Thanks again, Moxie!

I love how Pam knows him so well.  I love how she can predict what he wants, what he'll say, what he won't do, etc.  perfect.  Very clever!

Author's Response: I don't think Pam would survive at Dunder-Mifflin that long without learning a few tricks. Thanks, kells8995!

Adorable. I've always loved the little connection Michael and Pam seem to have - especially for the period of time Jim wasn't in Scranton, or wasn't being with Pam as a prankster-partner, which merely emphasised the understanding - because it shows so well that Pam gets who Michael is better than a whole lot of people. Maybe it wasn't voluntary, but I'm pretty sure she wouldn't want to take that back. Now.

OK, tiny thing, but I loved how Pam hides her personal things underneath the tampons and birth control pills. So Pam, and what a brilliant Michaelbarrier!! hee, she would do that.

And I loved how you've gotten Jan. Cool, calm, but still obviously charmed by Michael, even if it's just a little. ;) I loved how you mentioned that she 'cradled' the little notebook - I think she'd do that.

And I love the idea as a whole. As always. :D You rock, Paper Scissors Jam!

Author's Response: Yes, Michael and Pam were Jim-widows together. They both lost their best friend (which in Michael's case was a bit one sided). And you know Michael would never touch "girl stuff"! Rock Paper Scissors Jam! I love it! Thanks moofoot!
