Wonderful.  I love how Ryan was trying to get through to Jim in his own Ryan way.  And the fact that we looks at celebrity gossip to shut up Kelly?  Hilarious.

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked it.  I was afraid it was too far out there.  And can't you just imagine Ryan looking for anything that will make Kelly quiet down for 5 seconds???  LOL!

he'd left without ever ordering Karen's double espresso.

It's downright wicked how hard I laughed at that. She's just sooo not his focus, even now. Poor, stupid Jim.

Author's Response: Seriously.  He needs to be konked on the head repeatedly at this point.  LOL!  So glad you liked it.

I love how that even though Ryan is a bit of a tool, he still manages to speak the truth.  Great characterizations, take that, mr. Halpert!

Author's Response: Yes he does.  I'm so glad you thought so.  Thanks so much!!

Very nice! A perfect balance of Jim being a dolt, and Ryan being well, Ryan. I think your Ryan voice is very true, brutal without being intentionally cruel. He just doesn't care enough about other people's problems to be mean. And Jim's flat out denial is great. He really does need to tell himself that to get through the day.

Author's Response:

Thanks Paper Jam.  I was hoping that would be the case.

Oh Jim.  Just admit it already.  SIGH.

I enjoyed the frankness of the conversation Ryan was *trying* to have with Jim. I think Jim will one day wake up and realise that hindsight really is 20/20... Great fic!

Author's Response: Oh Luna - I certainly hope so.  Thanks so much for the review!

Ooh burn.  Nice.  I didn't even remember that he was supposed to get Karen anything either!

I really liked the interaction between the two men; it's not something we often see, either in fic or on the show.  Yeah, Ryan's a bit of a tool, but I still think you accurately captured him.  He's just on his own mission in life and I think that affects how he deals with his co-workers.  And good bit of Jim-denial.  Kee-rist, how long that that possibly last?!

Author's Response:

It seems like it's lasting forever so I don't know belsum.  I. DON'T. KNOW.

Glad you liked it.

Okay, I can SO hear this conversation actually happening.
Poor Jim. In such denial. And it does seem like Ryan's the only one in that office that knows what's going on with everyone all the time. I'm just reminded of that scene, where Ryan, Pam and Kelly are writing out the wedding invites and he's like, "You're inviting Jim?" in that "Are you seriously that stupid?" tone of voice.
Lovely story, as usual.

but I'm taking the time in this review to be completely pathetic and ask you if you'd be interested in being a beta reader for me? You can totally say no, and it would be cool (I know you're probably busy with a million other things). But if you think that you can, could email me @ amalia_kensington (at) yahoo (dot) com?
Anyway, thanks.
cheers.

I didn't think Ryan was a tool at all in this story (well, except for asking what Karen had on under her suits!).  I love his line "If you can't see that she said that simply for your benefit I don't even know what else to say to you."

Ryan has always seemed to know something about Jim and Pam.  We can't forget "You're inviting Jim?" - that came from somewhere.  At Casino night, Jim and Ryan are sitting together when Pam and Roy are having a happy winning moment; Ryan seems to say something to Jim about Pam.  So, this is all very believable to me.

I LOVE that Jim didn't order Karen's drink.  If he actually walks into the office without that drink, it'll be, what?  2 nights of talking?  3?  Hell to pay, anyway.  You know, if my boyfriend didn't bring me my double espresso, I would totally pack up my bags and get the hell out of Scranton.  Absolutely, I would.

Anyway, I really enjoyed this Jim and Ryan conversation.

Author's Response:

TLK - That's what I've been thinking this whole time.  Ryan KNOWS.  He might not want to get involved but Jim sort of started it by asking about Kelly first.

I'm not sure if Jim ever turned around.  I'm thinking he did.  You can't very well say Starbucks was out of espresso but who knows.

Very glad you liked it.  Thanks so much for the review!

Oh, I loooooove a-hole!Ryan. He should totally be the one to give Jim a kick in the pants. As dysfunctional as he and Kelly are, Jim and Karen are worse. You did a great job of making that apparent in this fic.

Love your stuff, as always :)

Author's Response: Well there you go.  That seems to be the consenus.  I'm glad to hear it.  Thanks!  I could say the same about you.  Is there more T&C on the way anytime soon????  Pretty please??

wow someone else who doesn't drink coffee. very rare indeed!
I dunno if Ryan would, but I am all for him interferring!

Author's Response:

Nope.  Never touch it.  Tea??  Hot cocoa?  Yep.  Coffee never.

Me too!!  Thanks for the review!

Forgive me for cackling in glee at the ending. No coffee for Karen!

 This was seriously really great.

This was great!  I love that Ryan is being an ass, but totally speaking the truth about the situation and then just going off on a tangent about how hot Karen is.  Also, something tells me Kelly and Ryan have a very hot/cold relationship (like you described here) Like, fighting one second and then crazy/sex the next, haha.

Author's Response:

I'm very glad to know a Ryan fan found this believable.  I was really worried.  I think you're exactly right about him and Kelly.  So maybe he should start to become nostalgic for the good old days.  You know...in a certain fic you're writing and step away from Ms. Beesly.

Sorry.  My rabid shipperness is showing. :)

Well, Ryan really seems to be the man of the hour! Interesting - at this point, virtually everyone seems to see through Jim's 'I'm with Karen' mantra except possibly him and Pam (I don't even think Karen truly buys it anymore!) I like that Ryan was kind of dick-ish here - felt right - and that Jim doesn't quite have an epiphany, just enough of a wake-up call to start the wheels turning in his thick skull. And OF COURSE he forgot Karen's coffee (and of course she'd drink double x's...) This hit a nerve, miss xoxoxo, because their inability to communicate is getting on my last nerve. Aaaaarrrgggghhhhh!!!!!

Author's Response:

I can't believe that no one really notices what's going on.  I mean - I eavesdrop on randoms who just visit in my office.  I can't believe they all don't know what's up.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrggggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!! Is right!

Sorry.  Your review was so pretty and my response was not nearly as eloquent.  Thank you though.  I'm glad you liked it.

Oh Jim.  There's so much I want to warn you about, and yet sadly, I cannot.  Why can't you see the temp speaks the truth, even if he is a more than a bit of an ass?

I have to admit I liked Ryan's inference that at least Jim's getting some sex out of it.  ;-)

And forgetting Karen's coffee?  Ha!  I hope when he went back he got cocoa for Pam.  Because we all know how hot chocolate and JAM go so well together.....

Author's Response:

I was going to have him order a chai latte by mistake - but I thought that was a little overkill. :)

Yes.  Ryan the voice of reason.  Who knew!!

I could see Ryan being a bit of a tool like this -- after all, he knew he could get Jim to give up the desk, he tried to get Toby to do his 'dirty work' with Kelly, there was the little exchange at the bar on Casino Night, so I could see him working the passive-aggressive angle a bit.

Love that Jim forgot Karen's coffee -- is that mean?

Author's Response:

So could I - but he's really hard to get a real handle on.  I didn't want it to seem too much like I was manipulating him for my own selfish needs.

And yes...TWSS. ;)

And no - not mean at all.  :)
