i really love it. we've always wondered what it was that first drew her to roy and what kept her there. this is a great explanation. as a sister, i feel pam's pain.

My heart sank when I read the clank. Its like, you expect it to be perfect. you expect that amazing finish.
Okay.... so, seriously, were you channeling me... you change a few minor things (freshman in HS, not college), my dad had colorectal cancer. Okay, so that really is the similarity. My dad died, but I also had issues with tuition. Thankfully, I didn't have to drop out (but then again, i am also graduating early, because, it is looking scary if I wasn't)... And, so, hopefully I won't have to take a job that is as scary as 'Blunder Driftin' (although if I did, would I meet my Jim?)

Author's Response: Wow. Sorry to hear that.  That's a very unfortunate coincidence, although it sounds like you've done well for yourself in a bad situation. So like I'm sure your coach always yelled, "Keep your head UP!"

:D! Karen playing soccer... damn, now I really relate to Karen. I used to just feel sorry for her, but now I relate to her!!!
The pain when you tear your ligament is unimaginable. I remember, even before I hit the ground it was just like, CRAP. I didn't know what it was, but it sure was painful. I kinda was thinking, oh it will heal. And then my coach was like, "No, get to the hospital, now!"
Haha! This was amazing! Okay, maybe I am slightly biased, but it was great. I really really really want to play soccer again... I mean, not walking for a while is worth the joy of playing soccer for an hour, right?

Author's Response: Glad you liked it, since most people don't get/like soccer, they don't realize how much it hurts us when we lose it.  Anyways, any excuse to sneak a little soccer into office fanfic is nice, so thanks again.  (And don't lose hope -- medical science will have new, titanium composite ligaments for you before you're too old)

What about Karen's scar...?  Or are these separate universes, sort of?

Anyway, the reason Jim's heart filled with disappointment is that he was hoping Karen would miraculously change into... Pam!  But she didn't.  Thud.

Kidding.  More nice background.  I especially like "Blunder Driftin"!

Author's Response:

"What about Karen's scar...?"

You know what... I though of this about an hour after I posted the story.  Then I convinced myself that nobody would notice... wrong again!  So now the official line is: "Jim is so in love with the Phillies that he likes to watch the game in the dark so he doesn't get distracted by little things... like Karen"
