I know you posted this some time ago, but I really am still enjoying your story and would be really happy if you finished it. Thanks for all your hard work on it, regardless.

This is really so, so terrific!  I was afraid for a while there that you had stopped updating, and we wouldn't have a happy (right??!!!) ending.  I'm so glad to see more chapters; they just get better and better!

This is my first ever review. I just needed to get out of stealth-y lurker mode to tell you how much I LOVE this story. You have managed to take the heart of the show and fit it just so right into the medieval times. Fantastic! I am always looking for an update. All your stories are wonderfully written (girly-girl) but this is by far my fave! /suck-up

Huzzah for more DoM!  And for the diabolical German Count, whisking Anne(gela) off to his castle in Isenberg (HA!)

Roy is a big oaf.  Is "Philly" the medieval equivalent of "Pammy"?

Dwide Schrude in the house.  With those martial skills.  Hee!

I am so freaking excited that this story is back.  Really, like Kelly excited.

I am constantly amazed at how you make these characters still themselves, despite immersing them completely in this world. The Jim/Dwight interaction was just so perfectly them. Still loving this, and loving that our boy James still has his eyes on the ultimate Pam prize despite the combat going on. I was SO happy to see an update!

"If you wish to see a fine made, handle my steady pole." Umm...that's what he said.

Michael Scot!  Why didn't I see that coming?  Och!

I see you've just changed over to Halberd - more correct for the time?  Chapter 1 still says Halpert; I didn't check the other ones.

Muggins, why are you suddenly using Halberd instead of Halpert?  You're confusing me.

I wonder what poppy picking is, but I'm using my imagination.

I really like how James manages to shoot well using certain images.  I'm glad I'm a little behind, because now I have another chapter...

Oooh, how sweet for them to be bantering and half-mocking, half-humoring Michael together. It's amazing how they can still be themselves in this environment. LOVE this story!

ah, olde style Jam banter.  How'd you get to be so awesome?

Michael Scot.  Hee!  I was wondering when/how he's show up. And with his boobie obsession intact.  Perfect.

And is Kenric one of the film crew?  He'd have to be, to have a bet on Philomena not marrying Roy.

"If you wish to see a fine made, handle my steady pole.”  Soooo glad that I wasn't eating when I read this.  LOL.  And another giggle when Michael the Scot appeared in all his 'finery'.  Yet another wonderful installment, Muggins :)

The German knight! I should have known you'd find a way to write Dwight into this!   Ditwinus Schroder!  Hee!

OH!  If Baron Dimwit (sorry, Ditwinus - I did a change all, but, um...) wins, does he win the hand of fair Philomena?  (Over James' dead body?)

James watching Philomena's hair being brushed makes me think of Kelly asking how Pam would wear her hair, and Jim watching as Pam takes her hair down and shakes it out.

I love how James has absolutely no patience for Aethelinda.  (I don't either.  Ky-wren, please fall in a ditch.  I'm guessing they had ditches back then, right?  There have been ditches forever.  Oooh, fall in a midden.  Yes!  Please let the maiden (I assume) fall in a midden.)

I like your portrayals of Kenric, Phyllis, and Kellith.

Hooray for more James and Philomena.  I also like how James turned into a Foreign Knight, and how Philomena is more concerned for him than for Roy of Nitwit (I mean, Nuneaton).

Author's Response:

OH!  If Baron Dimwit (sorry, Ditwinus - I did a change all, but, um...) wins, does he win the hand of fair Philomena?  (Over James' dead body?) Hey! Have you been reading my chapter outlines? You've got to stop doing that! Don't you want to be surprised?

The whole thing about Pam's hair was straight out of that scene. I considered for a second having him fall off his horse, stunned. But... too melodramatic and all that.

You gotta admit though, that Aethelinda... she's a trooper. Explain to me again why Karen continued dating Jim when he admitted that he still had feelings for Pam? When a guy says he has feelings for another girl and has previously said "I'm really glad you're here" rather than "I really love you".... I mean, Karen, come on, GET A CLUE, GIRLFRIEND!

Ditwinus Schroder? HAHA! Fantastic. This was a great set-up for whatever is coming next, I think. You continue to do a wonderful job of bringing this era to life and making it feel real but not strange. This is truly one of my favorite WIPs on the site. Fabulous!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you're enjoying it! I was pretty sure when I started writing it that there would only be like 20 people interested so.... Nqllisi I hereby induct you in "The Twenty". I believe we have to take a blood oath at this point and promise to be BFF forever. It's a pity I faint at the sight of blood.

Just popping in to say I miss this story! I was a bad reader *slaps own wrist* not reviewing because I hadn't set up an MTT login. Anyway, your stuff is generally great (like "Beigeman" and "Girly-Girl") but I hope this one hasn't gone by the wayside.  [/end of fangirl note]

Author's Response: Thank you so much for reviewing! I'm really enjoying writing this story and hope to have another chapter up this week! Thanks for generally liking my stuff. If you like Beigeman and Girly-Girl, I highly recommend Nomadshan's Princess Bride and, of course, all of Moxie's stuff. I wish I had more time in the day so I could write all the stuff I want to, but in the meantime there are A LOT of other great writers (THANK GOD!) on MTT!

I must be a Kellieth, because I'm afraid I lost thread of the story also, and only paid attention to the two a-courting.  Philomena doesn't really realize she's a-courting, is that right?

And now that we've seen a bit of the true colors of the Irish Knight, let's not tell DF and B08 about this story, okay?  Because he seems maybe worse than Roy of Nuneaton.  I like that James is protective of Kellieth and all, but he didn't interrupt, right?  Is that just what a man would have done at that point (withdraw), or was he unsure how welcomed the attention was?  And was the attention particularly unwelcome, so the problem was more that Kellieth would have hoped for more out of the forest tryst than the Irish Knight would?  (In which case, holy parallels, Muggins!)  And, sorry for that crazy run-on sentence.  Hopefully you can determine my question from that.

Author's Response:

No need to worry, the thread of the story was not there to follow. James was manipulating an old, old Scottish tale called... are you ready for this?... "Michael Scott". Yes, indeed, there's an old Highland story about one Michael Scott who fights a wyrm, cuts it into 3 pieces, eats the middle piece, and thereby gains control of the dead. He raises up a zombie army and becomes quite the powerful guy. So, um, yeah... but since Pam couldn't even understand the opening bit he had to keep backtracking and eventually he just kind of fumbled out a story more based on what was going on with him and Pam then anything having to do with "Michael Scott". So there you go. You were completely right to not understand what the hell he was talking about.

Roy of Nuneaton's worse, let me tell ya. At least the Irish Knight follows his chivalric code whenever he thinks he'll get caught. Roy doesn't abide to any code since he's just a local bully. That will become more apparant as the story progresses. This was just Ryan's only chance to have a good time before he was back among his peers.

Is that just what a man would have done at that point (withdraw), or was he unsure how welcomed the attention was? Very good question and difficult to answer. At this point in time the knights of England were the main peace-keeping and law-giving units operating under either the King (and his designated nobles) or the Church. Depending on who your master was, raping a woman was completely acceptable. In this case, since she didn't scream, James was in a quandry. It could have been an agreeable tryst for all he knew. The other BIG problem here for James is that these are foreigners. He's not exactly sure what is acceptable and not acceptable under their moral codes. Since Ryan has been described as a Knight of a Holy Order (and thus under the Archbishop's eventual rule), it would suggest that this fornication would be, at the least, looked down upon with disdain and requiring eventual penance. However, by James calling him a rogue, he's telling everyone that he, James, goes by a higher code of chivalry. It kind of sucks that at this time the law-keeping force was also the most likely to commit these transgressions without fear of reprisal. If Ryan had been Kenric and James knew that Kellieth did not seek his advances, James would not have hesitated to stop him. Ryan gets a lot of leeway because a) he's a knight and b) he's got some really powerful connections.

And yes, what Kellieth did in the forest is the equal of Kelly's asking Jim in the kitchen to find out if Ryan likes her and wants to date. She is expecting to get married and have lots and lots of babies! He's soooo perfect! He's going to own his own business one day! (That is, own his own castle) Chances of Kellieth getting swollen with child and having no husband named Ryan.... I'm guessing 89% unless divine intervention (deus ex machina) occurs.

“Och, no man should ever promise that. A woman’s desires can never be fulfilled,” James mocked her teasingly. So sweet!!

Oh, the leaf that isn't there!  That's adorable.  I am loving how drawn James is to Philomena.

You must away to Scotland where none should harm your pretty tongue. Absolutely she should.  And quickly.

So he needs to make up a story for James the Reever?  Hmm.
