Aw, this one's really sad, but I'm glad he at least has someone. Penny sounds sweet. =)

Nice job, PPC!  There's no expiration date on finishing stories, you know.  At least I hope there isn't.  ;)

I also liked EmilyHalpert's idea (I think it was hers) of seeing Pam's side of the 1st two chapters, if you ever feel like writing that.

Isn't it a great feeling, though, to be able to mark something 'complete'?

I'm glad you didn't make Jim miserable. I think I probably would have cried. Great job! I can't wait for the next installment.

what a cool idea! i love this concept. and i'm glad you made jim happy-ish without pam - but also capable of needing to get drunk, as we all do when old heartbreak comes back, from time to time. i'm really interested to see other variants of this, and i'd love to see you really push the concept to give us some interesting character studies. also, and perhaps everything is really planned out already, but what if we saw jim's 35th bday from pam's perspective - and she wasn't with him? just a twist. i don't usually tell an author how to write their story - so please forgive my pushy advise!

Author's Response:

you are not being pushy at all.  I really love this story and I'm trying to come up with other ways to do it.  I might make a Pam version, or do what you said and see where Pam is on all of Jim's 35th birthdays.  Definately something to think about :)

Thanks for reading!!

Is she based off of...Rita from Dexter?

I liked this part. Jim and Jim Jr. Adorable.

Author's Response: YOU WIN!!!!!  Congrats!  I will be PMing you for your real name and I'm going to write you into my story "Open Waters"  haha...I'm so excited someone got it! :)

This is really good and i would expect Jim to get better (even though i would resent it). Anyway you wrote these in a way that made me like the women. Karen seemed believable (not to evil but not the perfect woman for Jim).

And I'm going to guess Elliot from Scrubs??

Sometimes it's hard for me to read stories when Jim and Pam aren't together (diehard Jammer) but I really enjoyed both! Can't wait to read the next chapter.

Author's Response:

It's hard for me too...reading and especially writing.  I'm really glad you read this and managed enjoy it!! Thanks a lot! :)

This is neat...a little look at what Jim could/would be like with no Pam in his life.  Not exactly what I want for him, but that's okay.

And Penny?  I believe that is Desmond's love, from LOST, right?  My 2nd favorite show too ;)

Author's Response:

Nice guess, but this character's name ISN'T Penny... :P

thanks for reading!!

=(  This made me a little bit sad but then...starting thinking how I don't really believe in soulmates but that there are more than one person you can end up with and be happy even if there is one certain person you might be happiest with.  I think Jim could have stayed with Karen in NYC and had the potential to be happy.  It wouldn't be the life he had in Scranton with Pam (which also has the possibility to make him happy) but it could still be a good life.  As much as I love Jim & Pam, it's nice to see Jim happy in other circumstances too.  And...their apartment is totally awesome.

(and after I wrote this whole thing I realized there are more chapters coming so...I don't know how much sense this makes but looking forward to more!)

Author's Response:

Don't worry, I totally understood.  I'm a huge jammer with a bad reputation for writing Karen as evil.  I decided to try something different this time.  When I first wrote this chapter it had like six other paragraphs but they came off as too negative, one was about how it took Jim forever to get her to marry him.  With this, I think I wanted Jim to be happy, but not as happy as he could have been.  When the story is finished I think it will be obvious which one was the best choice ;)

thank you so much for your review!

I loved the apartment and Karen's dress - (I appreciate  when authors give links to go with certain aspects of their stories).  I think this story is perfectly lovely - they are both successful, happy and in love, assuming, of course, that there never was a Pam (smile.) Seriously, very nice. I'm anxious to read more.

I couldn't see Karen's expensive dress!  I love how Jim knows it cost them a fortune.  That is a really nice apartment!

You know the swanky NY life is not the one I see for Jim, but he seems happy enough, doesn't he?  And so does Karen.  I wonder what Pam's life is like in this scenario.  Hmm.  Hopefully also content.

You know I love this idea.  I'm always interested in the "what might have beens" of life.  Did you ever see that movie Sliding Doors, with Gwyneth Paltrow?  This is Jim's Sliding Door.

I am so jazzed about the possibilities for this story.  Great job and good call on Karen's dress

Who wants to be rich when you can be with Pam? I love this so far and look forward to the rest!
