Celery.  Heh.

But seriously, this Jonathon?  Should totally be a semi-regular on the show.

Author's Response:

It just thrills me to death when somebody mentions an affection for Jonathan; I have so much fun with that character (and with envisioning Scott Foley and John Krasinski in the same room together).  I'm just enamored with the idea of a foil for Jim -- and older brother who sees it and gets it, you know?

Of course, now that I've started watching Chuck, I'm itching to write a younger brother for Jim (Zach Levi -- have you seen him?  He absolutely channels JK/JH sometimes, so much so that it's almost eerie.  ...But it's more sexy and cute than anything else.  LOL)

Thanks for reviewing!

So when's Jonathon joining the show?  That guy rocks!

Author's Response:

Heh - from your lips (keyboard?) to Greg Daniels' ear!  :o)

Thanks for reviewing -- and glad you're enjoying him!  (Wait, that sounded dirty....)

Despite the lighter tone, it's still so refreshing to return to other characters.  Dwight!  I missed you!  (Congratulations universe, you win.  Heh.)

Author's Response:

You know, writing ensemble fics intimidates me, because there are so many people here who do it astonishingly well -- and I find it really daunting.  Glad you enjoyed the Dwight/Jim interaction here (and Starry Dreamer deserves a lot of credit; she's the one who nudged me in the direction of Pam's phone call & Jim's subsequent prank).

Thanks so much for reviewing!

I'm glad you didn't make it easy for this Pam.  Should be interesting how things resolve from this temporary "friendship is good enough" stage.

Author's Response:

I definitely didn't want to give her an easy way out; I just didn't think there was any way that Jim would be willing to drop everything and run right to her just because she said she was ready.

Thanks again for reviewing!

Ah now that's the fight I think we were all expecting to see on the show.  Nice.  I don't find this chapter angsty because things actually happened.  That makes a difference.  Heh.

Author's Response:

Yeah, I would've liked to have seen a little something more than we actually saw.  I'm so intrigued by David Denman's mention of the deleted fight scene from season 2 (for "Boys and Girls") when Jim sort of got in Roy's face and refused to back down.  I do think he has it in him, but I don't think the show demonstrates that very often.

Ah...so the angst bugged you when it didn't advance the plot?  I see now.  Yeah, I'm heavy on the interior monologue at times, which some people find off-putting or just plain boring.

Thanks, as always, for the feedback!

Oh thank god.  As I've been catching up on fic (between vacation and the archive disappearance, I'm really, really far behind) I was afraid to get back to this one.  But I actually liked this chapter.  It was almost an interlude.  And I'm really glad that this Pam finally was able to view her actions from outside of herself and see her own selfish nature and was reviled by it.  Now I'm actually looking forward to what happens next!  :-)

Author's Response:

You were afraid to get back to it...?  Yikes.  Was it the angst that freaked you out?  I know a few people have found it (and Pam's actions) off-putting, and I can certainly see why.

That said: glad you enjoyed this one!

Wow.  Wow.  So incredible.

Thank you so much for all of the time and effort and care you have put into this story.  I have enjoyed it from beginning to end.

I think I have to come back again later and post a more coherant review, because you've left me speechless.

Author's Response: You know, it's funny to hear you thank me for the effort and care, because really, I just love writing so much (and this one was, by far, my favorite thing to write), and just getting to play with these characters in the first place is like a gift.  But to have people read it and actually like it?  And better yet, take the time to *tell* me they liked it (or didn't, as the case may be)? Amazing, and never ceases to surprise me, honestly.  So thank *you* for taking the time to review -- so glad you enjoyed this, really!

I've followed this from day one, and let me say it has never been slow. The ups and downs were so entertaining to read ans the sexual tension throughout the entire thing made it really interesting! Great work!

Author's Response: I'm so glad you enjoyed it all the way through -- it was rough at times, I know; I tend to really heap on the angst before I serve up a happy ending.  :o)  Thanks so much for your review!

Oh my.  girl7 never disappoints.

We can't have canon Jam together and not have fanon Jam together now, can we?

The angst is lovely, but the happy is just the whipped cream on top of the chocolate pudding.  Yum.

Author's Response:

I'm, like, nearly two months late in responding to this, but I didn't want to just leave it hanging.  :o)

I've been a lurker here for quite a while and have anxiously waited for each of the chapters of this story.  I LOVE IT!!!  I'm so sad that it is about to be over...but I cant wait to see how it ends!  It is utterly perfect!  I love the way you have portrayed JAM and the addition of Jonathan.  I could totally picture him as Jim's brother.  UPDATE SOON!  I've been checking by often to find the next installment! :)

Author's Response:

Well welcome!  I'm always happy to hear someone say he/she has come out of lurkdom because this is such an amazing community. That said, I'm glad you're enjoying this; I've had so much fun writing it that I'll be sad to finish it in some ways.  :o)

Hope you enjoy the next chapter, too!  Thanks for reviewing --

Yay for dinner and second chances!  Jonathan is just adorable and such a shipper.  Wouldn't we just die if a Jonathan gets mentioned on the show?  Especially in some connection to Jim?  I mean, if we can have a squirrel on the premiere, anything's possible, right?

Author's Response:

Listen, I think I would pee in the floor if Jim turned out to have a brother named Jonathan.  I would absolutely just pee myself.  Hee.  And yes -- Darryl and the squirrel, too too cute!

You KNOW I cannot wait for the dinner scene, right?  OK.

Author's Response:

Hee - so glad you're enjoying Jonathan!  I could just imagine him saying that (or rather, Scott Foley saying that, I guess, heh).

Dinner scene is written and posted - hope you enjoy it!  (BTW - LOVE the October calendar!)

So late last night, after seeing the premiere, I stopped by here and found this update. Talk about the cherry on top. What can I say at this point other than I can't stop smiling? (And, speaking of the premiere - is Pam really sure Jim shouldn't bring her a 'baguette?')

Author's Response:

Okay, your baguette comment made me laugh harder than it really should have.  :o) Glad you enjoyed this - hopefully the next chapter will also leave you (*cough*) satisfied & smiling as well.  :o)  (And no, I can't stop smiling after that premiere either!)

i've already written a review (or added this story as a favourite, whatever), but i have to chime in again to say what a pleasure this is to read. i'm definitely hooked, but beyond that, it's a masterfully told story. i think sometimes writers take the easy way out, but you complicate every situation to the nth degree which makes it so real. i'm loving this painful story you've got going. can't wait to see how it turns out!

Author's Response:

You know, it's really a relief to hear you say you think it's a good thing that I don't take the "easy way"; I worry that I put them through too much hell sometimes.  :o) But with this AU thing, Pam made so many disastrous decisions and acted so recklessly that I think there's just no way around them having to really work to get through it all.

Thanks so much for reviewing!

Another wonderful chapter. I'm so sad it's ending so soon-I've really enjoyed the ride!

I really liked this chapter, with them creeping their way towards one another again. You gotta love how Jim would still help her move. What I really love about this path the story has taken is that it allows them to some extent get back what they have always had: they not only love each other, they like each other.

Author's Response:

Listen, it's kind of alarming how sad I'll be to finish this; it has been so much fun to write.  Glad you're still enjoying the pacing -- them taking small steps back to one another.  I really think that's how it would have to be with those two.

Ugh, this is just KILLING me!  Again, so well written.  Jon with the champagne, nice.  I can't wait for the next chapter but I really don't want it to end.

Author's Response:

Hee - I always feel guilty for thinking, yes! when a reviewer says something like that ("This is KILLING me!"), but it is in a way what I'm going for, I suppose.  (What can I say? I am an angst whore, apparently.)

Glad you liked the detail with Jon & the champagne.  I'm well aware that he treads a fine Mary Sue-esque line, but I really love the idea of a foil for Jim who's so similar in a lot of ways, but is able to be relatively objective; I also love the idea of Jim having a brother with whom Pam is close, someone that she'd confide in a little bit.  (And I have searched and searched through my own psyche, yet am unable to locate what it is that makes me have such a penchant for this scenario, LOL.)

In any case - I pulled back on including Jonathan in fics for a while, for fear of overload or overkill or just too much, but reviewers seemed to really respond to him.  So here he is.

And, uh, the champagne - while his grandest gesture - will not be his last. :o)

Thanks for reviewing!

Why are *you* a genius??  (Said in tones of Dwight to Phyllis in The Dundies -- "Why were *you* in there?!")  Seriously - so appreciate the review (and the simile you so casually tossed out there -- awesome, I'm telling you!).

This fic is just perfect.  You've captured their voices and kept them completely true to the characters, which is an impressive feat since this is territory Jim and Pam have never really tread into before.  I like the drawn-out mistrust on Jim's part; it feels like when the happy ending gets here, they'll have earned it.

On a more personal level, I really owe you.  I've been reading fics set after/during season 3 and feeling like the whole relationship has just been cheapened to a point of no return, and reading this made me like it again.  Thank you!

Author's Response:

It's always great to hear that a reader finds their voices authentic, but it's even more so with this one since it's so out there in terms of all that has happened between them.  It's also nice to hear that you're enjoying the drawn-out mistrust; it's one of those things that I've been pestering my beta about -- "Is this believable? Is it believable that he'd be in love with her, sense that she's feeling something for him, but still not be willing to trust her?"

...But I just kept thinking that for her to have done what she did to him (i.e. sex then forget it), it'd have really hurt him & could take a while.  Plus, drawing from season 3 -- I think that he sensed all season that all he had to do was say the word and she'd be his, but he was hesitant because of the hell he probably went through trying to move on from it.

A big rambling digression there - sorry. :o)

As for your last comment -- thank you so much, wow.  I know what you mean; I've heard a lot of people say the same thing about season 3 cheapening the relationship a little, and I can see that point of view.  I do think the writers made a few mistakes (though I was never one of the people threatening to jump ship or getting furious every week -- I was more like the cautious optimist, LOL).  So to hear you say that this sort of redeemed their dynamic means a lot -- because truly, one of the reasons I write as much as I do about them is that the dynamic the writers have created (to say nothing of the two characters themselves) is simply amazing.  I just love it.

Anyway - thank you so much for reviewing!

Ow, girl7, rip my heart out, why don't you?  Love the door-frame tapping.  And rebuilding.  But hating that Jim still can't trust Pam.  Ouch.

Author's Response:

I'm sorry! I'll make it up to you, I promise.  (This story has made me feel like a cad in some ways - I find myself saying in review responses, "I'm sorry; I'll make it up to you.  I didn't mean it, baby - please!"  LOL)

Yeah, the rebuilding was a smidge challenging to write because...well, for one, I'm an impatient girl, and I do believe if I were in Pam's shoes, I'd have long since tackled him and two, I now know what John Krasinski looks like with a shirt off damn.....

Sorry - digressed a little there. :O)

Looking foward to the conclusion of this wonderful story so that I can print it all out and savor it in its entirety.  Yay for another girl7 saga!

Author's Response:

Heh heh - spoken like a true Hussy! ;O) (I'm sorry - did that make you feel unwelcome?  LOL)

Yeah, I'm actually a bit sad that there's only one more chapter (which says sad things about me, I'm sure, but that's neither here nor there, hee).  It's been such a treat to have you loyal guys coming back and reviewing every chapter - means a lot to know people are still with me!  ;O)
