Wow, sad last sentence. This is a really great look at how things might have been. I like how Roy isn't the bad guy, he's just himself.

He paused for a second, looking at her in a way that he seldom did. It was a look that, until that moment, had always made her heart race.

I like how Roy and Pam can still have moments like that, even if they weren't meant to be!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I wasn't trying to make anyone the bad guy. I just wanted to look at how things could've happened if Pam hadn't been able to take that leap of faith. But I'm really glad she did because this is sad.

Thanks for the review, though. That's not sad. That's vair vair happy! :)

Ooh Azlin! So Angsty...Poor Pam! You can feel her pain, "In the end it had been too much of a risk to call off her wedding for something that might not have been real." Ugh! It cuts right into your heart... Nice job.

Author's Response: Yeah, I went super angsty with this one. Not really sure why, but that was the way I was feeling I guess. Anyway, I'm glad you liked it. Poor Pam, huh? Good thing she's braver than that!

You give me more than enough warning on angst and not happy, and what do I do? i read it anyways. So, I will totally come blaming you when I am sad and depressed for the rest of the day. Or remind myself that these are fictional characters. Either or.

"Jim was too good to be true."
Totally the problem. because that is why we haven't been able to find a real Jim for us. Because real Jim's don't have writers trying to market him as the most perfect man in the world. Especially female fic writers marketing him as that.

"But life wasn't a daydream." *sigh* go ahead, ruin everything. because trust me, living life like it is a daydream is so fun (until it all comes crashing down)....

Oh, I loved this so much as much as I hated it. Because its sad, and Pam reminds me so much of myself in some ways, and its good, but its sad. And my brain isn't making any sense (I am really tired suddenly....).... but oh well. it was still awesome in its sadness.

Author's Response: Uh... so I just now noticed that I hadn't responded to a couple of these and now they're really old, but whatever. I hope you weren't sad and depressed for the rest of the day because that wasn't the point I swear. It's cool that Pam reminds you of yourself because in stories like this I end up borrowing a lot of my own thoughts for Pam. Of course, Pam and I are different people with very different experiences, but I'm still drawing on a lot of my own feelings and maybe magnifying my own insecurities at times. (Wow! I'm sounding cool with all these big words, huh? Guess that means it's time to go back to college!) Anyway, thanks for the review, I'm glad you thought it was awesome, if also sad. ;)

I loved this azlin, you're an extraordinary writer and I love the angst. This would've been a perfect alternative to S3 and you did a great job of showing how vulnerable Pam truly is. Kudos and Karma all around!

Author's Response: Thank you so much! Wow, what a nice review! I'm flattered that you liked it that much, so kudos and karma right back at ya! This is the part where I say that since it's karma what goes around comes around and then refer you to a Justin Timberlake song with the exact same message. Only I don't want to get that song stuck in both our heads. Um... too late.

I looooooooooved it. So much.

Then again, I am a sucker for the following: angst, JAM angst, JAM angst based on lyrics/music by Damien Rice. Thank you, Azlin for giving me a fix that I have been craving for far too long. Seriously. :)

Author's Response:

I'm happy to oblige! Actually, it was sort of a fluke that I wrote this with that song in mind because I just sort of started writing and then halfway through I heard that song again and realized that it was saying a lot of the same things I was saying, so yeah, after that I just wanted it to have the same feel as the song, but I didn't really want a "songfic" per se. So this is what came out.

Anyway, thanks for the review! I'm so glad I could give you your fix!

Oh, man I knew this was going to be angsty, but wow.  That was angsty.

Pre-FNB makes me crazy.  Always waiting for something to happen.  Waiting for Jim to make a move (again...).  Always settling.  Her job, her fiance, her situation.  Bah. I can't stay mad at her. :-D

This fic brings to mind "It's a Wonderful Life." This is what Pam's life would have been like is she hadn't been brave enough to listen to the truth that had been in her face for three years.  Praise be to Gil. :-D

Awesome stuff, Azlin!

Author's Response:

I know. I thought about adding some kind of warning that it was really, really angsty, but then I thought I might scare people away.

Yeah, I don't get pre-FNB either, but at the same time I can't help but love her. On the other hand, I'm so glad she came to her senses! And I'm also so glad you enjoyed this. Thanks for the review, Susan!

Oh, Azlin!  My gut hurts!  That's even more angsty than the real show!

Even in this scenario, though, I see hope.  What couple is engaged for more than 3 years and still 'needs time'?  Maybe FNB would eventually find her way out even now.  I'm glad we didn't have to see it this way, since Season 3 was difficult enough as it was!

Angsty but good!

Author's Response:

I know, somehow I was in super angst mode when I was writing this.

I like your idea about Pam eventually figuring it out though. And I'm also really glad we didn't have to see this because I'm not convinced that I would have kept watching.

Thanks for the review, Kev!

Oh...wow. This was so sad, but so, SO good! So delicately written, yet so full of powerful images and emotions. And way to take a tired old chestnut like "some things never change" and breathe new (yet sad) life into it!

Just...wow.

Author's Response: Aw thanks, Mose! I'm glad you liked it. I don't know why I suddenly felt inspired to write something so angsty, but I'm hoping my subconcious isn't trying to send me a message or something... Seriously though, thanks for the review!
