That was just lovely, and I can't believe I hadn't read it before. I just adored it. Wonderful job.

This is fabulous. The way they say so much without saying it...it's completely right, because they don't need words (they have smiles and eyebrows and history to communicate with).  This is my favorite thing I've read here for a long time. Thank you!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks so much! You have no idea how big a smile that just put on my face. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Oh, Jim and Pam...

Lovely. I love stories that capture a simple, true moment and let that be enough - without overloading it, if that makes sense, lol. And I think you've done that here. I like how you made their acknowledging mutual heartbreak so matter-of-fact too.

The silence between them is flat and warm, despite the chilly air. His feet tap ground.

Now, that is a wonderfully subtle, but meaningful line. They really are on terra firma together, aren't they?

Author's Response: Thank you very much! You know, I actually wanted to get the atmosphere of this not being all out of control and lofty but just a kind of normal (albeit extremely lovely and deep) relationship, so I'm really glad that came across. Terra firma is right!

"There is something to be said for starlight and truth and the intoxication of requited love."  Such a beautiful sentence.  I liked that they both acknowledged that they broke each other's heart.

Author's Response: Thanks a lot! Yeah, I really wanted Jim to actually realise that Pam's heart was just as broken as his. I don't think it gets acknowledged enough.

Okay, I loved this story just from the MENTION of The Colbert Report. I believe they would watch it also. It could be because I am such a fan I can't even imagine anyone (even fictional character) not watching it.

Just reading about them getting tickets reminds me how awesome it was when I got to see Stephen Colbert in person. Its like, seriously, he is a real person! It was insane to see him walk out. I was screaming so loudly it was insane. I didn't care that I woke up early. I didn't care that I had been standing for over an hour. I was so close to Stephen Colbert it wasn't funny. I could see him. I was inches away at one point. Wow. Just the memories of it. And its only been a week (he came to my school to campaign for President. Before they were asses and denied his application)

My friend got to shake Colberts hand. He hasn't washed it since. At least, thats what he said. He probably has. But I wouldn't.

Tis is awesome, because not only can I totally see it happening, you have the tone down also. So that pretty much rocks.

I can't wait until I get to see a taping of TCR. I am probably going to try to see it in Jan when he tapes in SC... sure, driving a few hours to see it may be insane, but its better than the few hour flight. And cheaper too!

Author's Response:

Thanks so much for your review! Ha, I totally agree with you - everyone should watch the Report. You're so lucky to live in SC (I visited there in July and it is SO PRETTY), the home of the man himself. And you'll get to see him again when the show tapes there! I live in Australia so it's kind of a long trek if I want to see him. But seriously, how amazing is it when he's suddenly right in front of you and it's like, wow, he's a REAL PERSON, not some guy on TV! I also went crazy. I was sitting in the second row so I was so close to him the whole time. God, SO AWESOME.

Anyway, thanks a lot - I'm glad you enjoyed the story. Stephen approves!

I thought the emotion coming through here was great.  The last two paragraphs were amazing, as well as this line:

There is something to be said for starlight and truth and the intoxication of requited love.

Ok, ok, and one more:

He can’t hide his happiness when she buries her face into his arm and giggles, and he thinks, this is why people are born.

Also: Colbert Report = Awesomeness.  So, great job :)

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. It seems like a lot of people around here love the Report which makes me extra happy.

Lovely story. Its so hard to think that Jim just doesn't realize how much he hurt Pam during S3, but I love how you dealt with that! Also, how awesome that you used Colbert to bring them together. See, that is what a good presidential candidate does- brings people together. And wow, can you tell I really really really wish he was on the ballot in TN?? :)

Author's Response: Thank you! And, seriously, I don't think I can ever properly love Jim the way I used to until he acknowledges that he did A LOT of damage to Pam as well. Heh, Colbert can do anything! If only they'd let him run...

Awwwwwwwe!! Too cute, but incredibly real.  Sometimes it really is just about the smiple things in life. Very well written. Great job!!

Author's Response: Thank you! Yeah, I think Jim and Pam are pretty normal people who don't have incredibly dramatic moments every time something big happens in their relationship. I'm glad it felt real.

Oh, I liked this! I can totally believe that Jim and Pam would watch the Colbert Report. And I loved the way you had them talk about the past. These two are not as wordy as we'd like them to be sometimes! Jim has it right. I wish I could forget about Sanjaya, lol.

Author's Response: Thank you very much! Yeah, I totally think it would appeal to their senses of humour. Haha, good old Sanjaya. I think I just found him funny because I live in Australia so the only time I ever heard anything about him was on the Internet, unlike people living in the US who were completely saturated by him. Thanks again for the feedback!

This was really sweet.  It made me feel all warm inside.  I could see them having a conversation like this.  Really well done!!

Author's Response: Thanks so much! I'm really glad you liked it.
