Okay, there's a lot too love about this, but in particular:
-The idea that the weird theme rooms at the Beets Motel are because they were picked by Mose is perfect and immediate headcanon.
-THE SHORTEST ENGAGEMENT DUNDIE. #PamAndJimWouldveEloped
-Kelly's voice is SO Kelly.
-The explanation for why we never catch more than a glimpse of Marjorie is perfect
-Stanley knowing exactly what Michael is up to and putting it to his advantage. He's a clever devil behind those big watery eyes.

Oh man it was all Jan! What a great twist. Love it. The resolutions were so beautifully in character that if I tried to name a favorite, I'd have to list them all. And the Michael-Dwight-Jim interplay at the beginning was spot on!

This was so good. Great character moments....oh, Meredith! Stanley was a hoot, and of course I loved the Jim/Pam resolutions. Wonderful work.

Thanks so much, bitterpill! I can't help but make every one of my stories a character piece, and I love all the ancillary characters. Meredith's that character that we can do almost anything with now. What with the drinking, the ultra-casual immediately forgotten sex and the tendency to be bitten by rodents, there's almost no alley too dark to take her down. (TWHS)
Jim and Pam's resolutions were sort of a 'gimme.' How could at least one of their resolutions not be about each other and their future? lisahoo had an even better one in her calendar, though, for Jim (see http://lisahoo.livejournal.com/8853.html) -- it was "Save three month's salary. No reason." How awesome is that??? Plus the picture with it was perfect. You definitely want to check that out if you haven't yet.

I saved this to read today. These resolutions are such a creative way to frame little mini-portraits - honestly, they're all so spot on, it's hard to pick favorites, but I love Meredith's self-negotiation; Dwight's beet-centricity (also when he offers to aid Michael in his 'quest' - hee!); the essence of Creed; Kelly's kellyness; and of course, Jim's I don't need a third provided the swoon. And I like how you wrapped it up with Jan behind the scenes, and her 'resolution.' Very, very clever, TLK!

Thank you, Colette! I'm clapping like Amy Adam's character in Enchanted; it's so neat that you saved this to read until today. :)
With Meredith, I feel like she's been through the resolution cycle before and failed a lot. She's just trying to find something (anything) she has a shot at sticking to. I think not drinking for a particular 15 hours a week (except holidays) could work for her. (Fingers crossed!)
It was a lot of fun to come up with these, and really interesting to see the reviews. Reviewers pick out such different things as their favorites; I get a real kick out of that. We all have our views into the world of The Office -- our favorite characters and themes -- and it can often come out while we're reading, and of course writing. ;)

I'll start with your PS first - It was working after the rewrite, but if it didn't click with you, it makes sense to take it down. Don't think of it as 'giving up.' You gave that one a shot; if you didn't like where it was going, put that time to better use -- apply it to something you will be happy with. :) That's my pep talk. I'm full of pep talks and unsolicited advice.
On to your review... In real life, Jim and Pam wouldn't waste a lot of time. They've known each other a long time; they'd be engaged easily within a year of starting to date, and it wouldn't be a long engagement either. On episodic television... it may be much longer than that, but in real life... "with this ring, I thee wed." ;)
My writing style (such as it is) is pretty much a work in progress. I don't recall ever having had any schooling in writing fiction, so I'm just doing my best and having fun. Plus, my betas tell me what doesn't work. :) Everything I do turns into a mini-character study, also; I can't help myself. ;)

So adorable! le sigh. So great. And Kev wanting to kick Scrantonicity's ass haha! I loved the part about marjorie beacuse at first I was like who the heck is that? Then I read and saw the 3rd resolution and went 'aha!' so great!

Aha! But I didn't make up Marjorie. Check out the Marjorie blog at http://whoismarjorie.blogspot.com/. In The Fire, Dwight says that Marjorie is missing that day, so Ryan can have her number (which I think is 14). Marjorie shows up in the background of various Office episodes, even in Season 3! I made up her last name, though. :)
Kev totally wants to kick Scrantonicity's ass! Only clap for Scrantonicity 2, not Scrantonicity! ;)

Until Stanley's resolution, it never crossed my mind that Michael would stoop low enough to read these - and then plan to use them against people!

Ha! My thought process went like this -- resolutions for the Office staff... Michael makes them do them... Stanley says "I know you're reading these" as one of his! So before I wrote any resolutions at all, that was the idea. How else can I make it 'make sense' that we get to see everyone's resolutions? Or so my reasoning went, anyway. I think the evilness of using them against people is all Jan. Michael is very malleable. (TWSS?)
I liked the Vance bit, also. I always get the biggest kick out of that part of Christmas Party when Bob Vance introduces himself with full title three times, and then Ryan's great line: "What line of work you in, Bob?" So good. :)

As for the concept, it occurred to me three nights ago, and I thought I'd better write it quickly, before someone else posted a resolution story! I still have to check to see if someone did that last year, although resolutions would have been different then. (Hmm... there's a concept. Last year's resolutions...)

Omg, this was hilarious, Kev! The conversation at the beginning in the office was so good, read just an actual episode. Especially Dwight jumping to help, and Jim messing with Michael.
Loved all the resolutions, especially the Jim and Pam wedding ones. Of course Stanley knows Michael is reading them. And holy crap, karma to you for including the mysterious Marjorie!
Yes, I can totally see Jan and Josh together during S2, thus Josh's surprised look when Michael made his fateful announcement at the conference on Valentine's Day. Michael always seemed somewhat irrationally jealous of Josh at the Philly convention - did he suspect? And of course, Jan was beyond pissed at Josh for taking the position at Staples. Was there more to her anger besides betraying Dunder Mifflin?

Thank you so much, EH! The conversation at the beginning was nudged along by my betas, who almost forced me to add a few lines of 'physical description.' Before that, it was pretty much just the dialog. (I don't like to work that hard...)
I'm glad you liked the resolutions; I knew people would like the Jim and Pam ones, but those were definitely no-brainers! Those two are clearly heading for the aisle, or the County Courthouse if they're in a real hurry (or want to avoid the planning.) Of course, they may drag it out on the show, but in real life, wedding bells would be ringing in 2008. (In real life, they would have rung way earlier -- Pam would have figured out she didn't love Roy sometime in Season 2.)
I would never have left out Marjorie. I wonder if we'll ever see her again? She probably confuses the heck out of casual fans.
I did think it was fun to contemplate a little Jan/Josh action. It didn't go as Jan had planned, so now she's on Plan B. (Maybe Michael is Plan E or F. There must be better choices, right?)

I definitely believe if this were real life, Jim and Pam would be engaged and married in a snap. And you can bet the engagement would be long enough to plan the wedding and to have it in the season they want -- no longer than that.

Okay, so it's REALLY late here, and I can't sleep a wink. So what do I do? I come here to see what is happening and I find that you've written a story! Fantastic!
Right off the bat, you had me cracking up at Meredith's list. Poor Meredith. Will she ever get a break?
Of course, Phyllis' mention of the rest of the family Vance (Vance [fill in the blank]) was a stroke of genius. Methinks the Vance family must hold some sort of monopoly over the contractors in the greater Scranton area. Oh, wouldn't THAT be a cool story? To learn that Bob Vance is like some crime boss of contractors? Wow, the possibilites... (hey, gimme a break. I said it was late. Apparently this is the sort of thing I think of when I can't sleep.)
And, of course, Jim's was perfectly adorkable. Well done.
Oh, and before I forget, Jan and JOSH?! How has no-one paired them up together before? That's brilliant.

Sorry about the insomnia, but since it garnered me another review, I guess that's at least a Lose/Win. ;) (The win's for me. :))
Poor Meredith will never get a break, on the show, at least. What comedic value would there be to her giving up the booze and the ultra-casual sex? I'd feel really badly for her if she were a real person, but since she isn't, I crack up with her lines like "In my experience, guys are way more attracted to the back of you than the front." Oh, Meredith! Did you really say that out loud? :) And when we discovered in Fun Run that she'd been bitten by a raccoon and a rat in addition to the bat? Yikes. I think that was in alleys where she was doing... um...well, she doesn't remember who she was doing. I mean what she was doing. ;)
I love the Vances. When reading your review, I realized if Bob had Scranton brothers, they definitely would have been at the wedding, and we didn't see them, so... there was apparently a major situation in Scranton on that day which required all the plumbers and construction heads to be there. You should definitely write something about the intricate web of Vance contractors. Sounds awesome.
In real life, Jim and Pam would get engaged and married within a year, year and a half tops. When you know you want to spend the rest of your life with a person (/Harry, When Harry Met Sally)
Yeah, Jan and Josh. That was just for fun. :) He dumped her ass, though. Probably part of the reason she's such a mess.
