i am truly and utterly speechless.
this is exactly, in every way imaginable, how i pictured their first date.
a little nervous, but not awkward, and containing a reemergence of their playfulness and jokes.
this was, in a word, perfect.

I enjoyed this date thoroughly. Love the waiter bit, my fave part though cheesy was the Jim sized hole in her soul. I have written some stuff too but yours is the first I ever commented on and I hope to post a story of my own soon. Hope you read it and tell me what you think. Nice work.

Woo. This is fantastic. Not terribly chivalrous, maybe, to trick her into walking in uncomfortable shoes, but very Jim-ish in his most wonderfully devilish way. And how it all just hit her, what they've gone through and that he's really finally there...I think that was a perfect note to hit, with her sudden emotion bringing them in for the kiss. Nicely done!

Author's Response: Thanks:}I got on this site to find a story on the first date. When I had trouble finding one that matched what was in my head, it just came rolling out. I've been writing this thing on scrap paper and the back of envelopes whenever I'm not busy.
