OMG!!! I cannot tell you just how excited I was when I saw there was an update to this! I will say that it's killing me that it didn't have interaction betwen Jim and Pam showing what's happening after Karen's phone call but I trust that will come along soon and I pray that since you have so much of it already done it won't take too long. (Don't know if MY heart could take anywhere near another 8 months!!!) OK, that said, what an absolutely fantastic chapter! I know nothing about this stuff but WOW it sounded real to me. With your descriptions I felt I could truly picture what was happening! THIS is a truly GREAT story! I absolutely caannot wait for the next chapters! GREAT job!!!

Longest summer of Jim’s life. Well, one of the two longest summers of his life. Wow, that's great. It conveys just how badly Jim felt after being rejected. Also, Jim's fear of his father rejecting him was heartbreaking.
No pressure--but I really can't wait for more ;)

So I was having difficulty sleeping last night and made the mistake of re-reading Cardiac Care for about the millionth time. It was a mistake for two main reasons:
1. It did not help me get to sleep. After I started I couldn't stop and 2 hours later, I'm still reading and I reach the end and actually shout out "NO! YOU DID NOT JUST STOP THERE!" at 2am. Even though I know where it 'ends', I've practically memorised it.
2. It just made me want more. And more.
Now I'm not writing this review to be annoying and whine about "Hey VB, when are you're going to finish it..." sounding like a broken record because I know that's irritating and doesn't help when you're stumped with it. This review is basically to say that when I read this chapter again ('She Loves You'), I actually cried. Real tears, and lots of them. I rarely do that with fanfic and yes, being quite tired probably didn't help. But there's something about the moment Jim asks "Am I that unlovable" that makes me break down every. single. time. The image of them sitting there, Jim thinking he's unloved, Pam thinking he's her guardian angel...just guh.
If you do manage to carry this on, that would be just peachy. But even if you don't, this will still be a story I never forget. And when I'm after a good cry, I know where to come. Thank you.

VB, so ... I'm finally getting around to reading this one and I have to say I love Pam's realization of what she did to Jim -- the flirting and then leaving him like he meant nothing to her. I'm an unapologetic Jim-lover and think he often gets a bad rap for the Karen months. So I like that you have Pam recognize what she also did to Jim for years. One more chapter and then I really do have to get to bed... :-)
