Oooh yikes.  I was already pretty stunned by the Pam's dad revelation and then Graham?  Yeah.  Clearly Pam's not the only one that forgot about that guy.

Author's Response: lol right?  totally forgotten.  poor guy ;-)

Oh man.  I did not expect the bread delivery scene.  That was effin' priceless!  I love how they are continuing to tease each other (and not just *that* way) throughout this whole ordeal.  Two loaves.  Heh.

I'm looking forward to when Jim and Pam finally duke it out and figure out what is exactly goin on! lol. Looking forward to more, cause this story is awesome!!!!

I really liked this!  Yes, it's a switch from the funny, but all along you've had that bit of underlying something that makes us value the funny even more when it comes.  I think I especially like these genuine moments between them. Let's see how Fancy New Jim deals with the Graham sitch.

Author's Response: yeah I really agree that there has to be that punch of more serious beneath the funny.  Funny people are always the most tortured deep down, right? ;-)  Thank you so much for reviewing and hopefully the Graham sitch will play out in a way that makes you happy.

You know what? Right now I say "funny schmunny -- who needs it"? Because when you write I don't care. You make me kind of like the angst. Kind of want it. Kind of welcome it. It's unhealthy (I'm sure) but it's just too damn good for me to care. So at first I was all "la di da" with the silent snarking they were engaging in and enjoying the comfortable lack of comfort they were experiencing and then you hit me with this:

And he’s in love with her in that gut wrenching kind of way. In the way where if he looks her in the eye for too long she’s definitely going to figure it out, so he looks away and he nods and he stares down at his coffee like that will maybe quiet down his insides, which at the moment are all twisted up and battling between wanting to kiss her and wanting to tell her too many things that are way too honest for a casual Wednesday cup of coffee.

Which? Just...GUH. Eviscerate a girl, why don't ya?

And then I keep reading and this part hits me like a line drive to the head, and I realize I only thought that first bit was the best bit in the whole story but really, it's this:

“Pam,” he starts, soft, solid, and he thinks he’s about to say something good because he thinks it should steal the breath from her lungs. He thinks that even the air should pause to listen to him, to stare at him in shock, and he feels something inside of him vowing to be a good man and he feels like handing that over to her. Like giving that to her because she’s already made him so much better than he is.

And I'm like weeping on the floor. Dead. From all the amazingness.

I love that you threw this whole curve ball in there about Pam's dad that makes her innate hatred of Jim and her overwhelming desire to never want or love someone too much so understandable and so tragic at the same time. And then you have Jim actually having a moment of clarity, recognizing the hurtles he's got to clear and confident that he can be the kind of man her father never was. It was so wonderful and moving and I just loved every word of it.

And then stupid Graham showed up and ruined EVERYTHING. I hope Pam tells him to go drown in some Earl Grey so she can get back to the important Jim stuff.

You're going to kill me again in the next chapter, aren't you? (SIGH) Oh well. Guess I'm just a glutton for punishment! :-)

Author's Response: Oh my god why are your reviews always so amazing?!?!?!!? Seriously you knock reviewing out of the park EVERY time!!!  Thank you so much for all of this detail.  I really was nervous about this part of the story because up until now it's been pretty light-hearted and comedic and now we're getting into the real meat.  So basically this review totally put my fears to rest.  You rock the house, and the casbah, consistently ;-)  Thank you thank you thank you!!!

I know I already reviewed this but I just re-read it and loved it even more! I picked up on so many little things I missed before (mostly because when I first read a new installment of this story I get too excited to read it properly!), and I just cannot tell you how talented you are. You have such an amazingly natural way of telling a story that makes it completely compelling.

Author's Response: yay two reviews!!!! how awesome is that?!?!  Thanks so much for being so awesome and complimentary throughout this story (I'm just catching up on review-response, since I've been awful so far) These kinds of reviews make me write faster, so thank you thank you! ;-)

Whoa -- life after the afterglow...  Love the glimpse into Pam's psyche and why she is the way she is.

Love this line: he feels like his other self for a second. Like maybe he should sell somebody a ream of something.

And nothing like a little reminder that Pam is actually the cheater here, even though Jim is supposed to be such a man-whore.  (Not trying to be down on Pam, it's just ironic that being careless with her relationships is coming back to her this way).

Author's Response: right? what a turn around that Pam's the one lying and running around with two men!!! I loved that idea ;-)  Thanks for reviewing, great to hear your thoughts as always!

stablergirl, this chapter was a revelation.  Honestly, I'm running out words to describe my love, so I'm just going to sit quietly and bask in the wonderous thing that is this story.

The story line, the like/hate/love of Jim & Pam, the yes, yes, yes! steamy parts. oh, baby..... Kudos for fast posting of the new chapter, I could be oh so happy reading a new one every day. Nice look at Pam's past, and LOL for how she was tormenting him in the car!

I love this chapter. Made it all more real. And I was wondering when Graham would show up again. How sad, that your girlfriend only cheated on you because she forgot that she even had a boyfriends. Poor Graham.

Author's Response: Yes, thanks real was totally what I wanted with this one.  lol poor graham indeed!

Whew. That paragraph towards the end where Jim "figures it out" and vows to be a good man? That kindof blew me away, stablergirl.

I really enjoyed that even Pam being super annoying was not enough to make Jim doubt himself, in fact it's almost like it made him stronger.

Lastly, fucking Graham. Boo.

Author's Response: well they are pretty into the bickering, so yeah I guess Pam's annoying-ness didn't bother Jim at all ;-)  Thanks for the review!!!

Now why'd you have to go and do that? Things were going so well, and you bring that craptastic bag of crap back. (Actually, to be completely honest, I was pretty wrapped up in Jim and Pam that I kinda forgot who Graham was.)

Ah well, I'm going back to read this entire thing again.

God I love this story. So freaking much.

oh my gosh i LOVE this!!!!  just when i think it can't get any better, you spring this on us. seriously? this is probably one of my top 10 favorite stories ever. it is just TOO good.

now onto sensible reviewing: i love that he's so romantic and precious, and "Jesus Christ, he's a woman." it's so uncharacteristic and he gets that but he doesn't care. i know i've said this before, but i love how you write what's inside their heads in a way that makes sense even when it seems incoherent. i just get it.

ok. i love it. and i love that Heather (which is my name btw so it makes me laugh even more) was so OBVIOUSLY overwhelmed by the hotness that must be a shirtless Jim Halpert. and he just kind of laughs at her and doesn't care. oh i love it. more please?

Allow me to set the scene. I'm in the car with some friends, being bored brainless by their insipid conversation. I'm playing on my new Sidekick, testing out the internet browser. "Zoooooh-my-god, shut the fuck up all of you, Famous has been updated." Then I proceeded to read all of this off a little tiny screen while I enforced a silence policy in the car with vehement shushing.

And now I'm home rereading it.

All I have to say is...SHUT. UP. I mean that in the best possible way.

Unbelievable.  How can it keep getting betterer?  I'm just loving how self-aware your Jim is.

I'm glad it was Heather at the door.  I feared it was the British BF!

Throughout all the sweetness and sexiness of this chapter, I think my favorite part (well, besides commando!Famous!Jim)was the callback to GWH, with both of them denying that they were drunk the night before.  No, you two, it wasn't just a random drunken interlude, geez!

God, I'd love to hear what Heather is telling her on the phone right now.  Probably something like, "Tie that boy down, and don't ever let him leave your house!"

This chapter is my favorite, I think, although it's a very tough call.  Of course, all the great lines that are so funny.  I love that they're having an actual (although halting) conversation about him calling her name out while he was having sex with Red and.."then he’s pushing himself into her and she’s letting her head fall back again so that he can’t resist planting open mouthed kisses against her pulse and the place where her neck turns into her shoulder. Her skin is white, clean, soft and feminine and he’s totally transfixed by it. He pulls out of her and pushes back in, slow and long and deep, and she says oh god with slow and long and deep sounding vowels."  So incredibly sexy.  I love him sprawled out and "beautiful looking" on the bed.   I love that Pam feels like she's losing her mind ("This is insane") and he thinks things are just starting to make sense. It's all just so great.

For the record, I did absolutely nothing with this chapter except read it and love it before anyone else devoured it.  It's all you, Mama, and you completely blew my mind with this one.

Plus, if I haven't taken too long with this, I get to be #400!

Author's Response:

you are number 400!! Well done, perfectly timed ;-)  Now I just have to work on that four hundred more with the Dallas based mini-series... hm...

Hot counter sex and adorable schmoopy Jim?!! It's too much perfection!
"He’s unconcerned, but in a very different way than normal. He’s happily unconcerned." Yay, I'm so happy for Jim, he's so content.
"...but she barks the phrase two loaves in response like it’s the eagle flies at night and he thinks he must’ve misheard..." classic.
"He thinks that getting what you want and holding on is sometimes so much better than walking away and he thinks that he’s been waiting for her and he thinks that he should tell her something." Guh. I repeat, guh.
