I cannot even begin to describe how brilliant this is. This is something they'd obviously never do on the show, but it's fascinating to see Pam give her life the complete tear-down and fresh start it needed post-Casino Night. You really embraced the quiet desperation of this office, and you made Pam's journey about PAM and not just about Jam without forgetting that Jim is one of the things Pam wants to be brave enough to go after. (I love the way their connection is used here.)

It's just a literary accomplishment. I've said this before, but I desperately hope you're still writing.

I can't believe I didn't review this before now, bebitched.  It's so beautiful and unique, and I love the ending--a true riding off into the sunset.  I love this bit in particular:  ...no way for him to feel her presence or absence of danger when he hadn’t actually spoken to her in nine months, the time it would take for a baby to be conceived, grow, and be birthed on schedule. And sometimes he thinks of their silence as a child, a thing to be nurtured and stroked until it could protect itself.  That really puts time in perspective.

I wish there was a way I can write a review that is as eloquent as your story. But since I can't, hopefully you'll settle for this one. Your story read like poetry. The images and feelings evoked by the words you used, the way you painted the story, everything about this was absolutely beautiful. I love the fact that Pam just up and left one day, finally taking that chance, finding herself in a new place, gradually learning to be happy, and how throughout the learning and the living, Jim and Pam ended up together.

And as I read through this (more than twice!), I kept thinking that this line was my favorite until I got to the next one. I couldn't choose one because this...this was just too perfect. It alternately made me smile, made my throat tightened, made me sigh, and everything in between.

Also, I don't know the song that the title is from but the title is simply wonderful. It was the reason I read this and I'm so glad.

Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful piece of writing.

That was really lovely.  It had a very calming and poetic feeling to it, and I like the idea of that far away happy ending.

Also, you make me want to go back to New Mexico. ;-)

Thanks for the nice story.

Great story, bebitched! My favorite part: "There are men here too. It’s not as if there weren’t ones back in Scranton but there she was engaged and in love (not to the same man the whole time, though) and it seemed a little ridiculous to notice the other boys in the playground if there were two already pulling her pigtails." Brilliantly put! Keep up the good writing. :)

What a gorgeous piece.  It was so utterly unexpected and yet somehow still in character for both Pam and Jim.  This image was amazing:  She’d seen the layers when she’d split herself open one night

I've been so busy I've barely read any fanfiction lately, but after the premiere (or whatever you call the first show after a 5 month strike hiatus), I had to go visit MTT.  I saw this was a oneshot, so I thought I'd check it out.

And wow.  Goosebumps.  I love how understated this is.  Almost austere -- which goes along perfectly with the desert theme.  This is going in my favorites.

Hey, neat story here.  I felt you could have drawn this one chapter out into a couple chapters. You're writing is so descriptive and poetic, and I just loved your little vignettes.  But I wanted more.  More details. More story.  You've got a gift here. Thanks for writing this.

Wow. Just....wow.
Beautifully written. The imagery is fantastic, and this has such and wonderful flow to it.
I really wish Pam could be that brave for realsies...(or frankly, that I could be that brave). Talk about taking a giant leap.
Also, I think Arizona suits them both...I can see that.
Thanks for this, such a lovely, hopeful story.

This is really lovely. The pacing is so perfect, we get a sense of waiting, waiting, waiting...and we might get a bit impatient, but we know it's right. I also really love the reversal you played--that Pam was the one brave enough to start over, and it took Jim another year to work up the nerve to take that chance. Very very well done.

"There’s a plastic bag of cardigans that’s picked up from the donations bin in Scranton. Pink and tan and baby blue and every other color that spells out in tiny scrawl “there’s nothing to see here, move along.”

Such an awesome story. I really loved it. So different that what I'm used to but it gave me the happy ending I'm always looking for...

Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous.  I love all the sensory details in this, the blue sky and red desert and long shadow of the bus pulling away.  I love Jim Googling her and finding her but not letting himself believe it's really her, that she's really done it.  I love that they both let go of things to hold on to each other.  I love that she deletes the one new message and gets rid of all of her cardigans.  This just felt so much like... well, what I imagine it felt like for Pam.  A breath of fresh air, movement, change, things getting better.

Fantastic.  You really, really have captured Pam in this.

wow, just beautiful.  Love the pacing of this and the little scenes that you've strung together -- like big chunky beads.

"at work he’s just alone with people around" -- that line just slices right to the bone.  Beautifully done.
