I like how this ends, and I like how Jim doesn't know what to say. All too often Jim is written as preternaturally witty (guilty) and I like that here? He's kinda speechless.

After I read a story I read the other reviews before leaving my own just out of curiosity. So tonight I read this story, then read the reviews, and realized that Nanreg said almost word-for-word what I would have said! She quoted my favorite line and everything.  So, for my review I say, please read nanreg's again, because I thought it was just as awesome as she did.  Truly!!!

Author's Response: thank you so much for your kind review, kaystar! i can't tell you how much i appreciate it. nanreg leaves fabulous reviews, so i'm glad you agree with her :)

whooo, that's heavy, but I LOVE it. I've read a lot of first date fics, but this seems totally original. I like that you didn't let either of them get bogged down in how much the past hurt and that you let Pam address how much she was hurt when he left. That last paragraph really blew me away though, gave me goosebumps.

Author's Response: thank you so much for your kind review, iheartcreed :) yeah, i agree that there was a lot of heaviness in this piece, and i'm glad you liked it's originality!

This story is so so great! And a great picture of what they would look like on their first date. I love, love, loved the end:

then he sees that she didn’t close the door like he did all that time ago. She never closed the door on him.

So this time, Jim Halpert follows her inside.

Author's Response: thank you for your kind review, jamlover! i'm glad you liked the end :)

That was really good!  I love your writing style- it's very easy and casual- very Jim and Pam.  Really really good.

Author's Response: thanks so much, nicejammies :) i'm glad you liked it!

Awesome first date :) Keep writing! I love how complex their relationship is, with her hesitation, love for her new independence, and need for him to be a leader all wrapped up together.

Author's Response: thank you, untherapy :). jim and pam are so incredibly complex, i think a lot of those facades kind of intersect and work together to make their relationship what it is. i promise to keep writing, haha!

I love it! I love your almost stream-of-consciousness style of writing; it makes the whole thing feel very true. It's this realness that makes this one of the best first date stories I've read. Keep writing!

Author's Response: wow- thanks for such a great review, hellogoodbye (any relation to the band hellogoodbye? because they're fabulous). i'm glad you liked the style; i know it's pretty freeform, but people seemed to take to it pretty well. thanks for reading and reviewing!

You know, that was probably one of the best stories I've ever read. Hands down.

Great work. I am amazed!

Author's Response: oh my goodness, malaz! thank you for such an awesome review. i'm SO glad you liked it :)

Ah, Josephine--you with your writing bug and me with my reading bug : )  Sorry, can't forgive you for your enthusiasm.  Instead, I'll just say, "Hey, thanks!"

This was just...yummy--one of those fics were I didn't blink.  One of my favorite lines that made me smile:  He’s a little bit afraid she’ll run away, so he sets precedence when they order by asking for a beer, hoping she’ll do the same, because if she does try to run at least she won’t be able to go in a straight line and he might be able to catch her. LOL!  And then the FNB confession over dinner.  Whew!  And the kissing!  The kissing : )  Lots of stuff to love about this.  Keep it up, girl!

Author's Response: yay, it's nanreg :) i'm glad both of our bugs work together so well.
yeah, i'm a fan of that line too- i try to stick a little bit of humor in these things so we don't get weighed down by the angsty angst. i'm glad you like the kissing; i wanted there to be a sense of urgency there that i hope i got. thank you as always for a sparkling review :)
