Talkative, this story is exquisite.  It is the equivalent of cupid's arrow straight through my heart.

Major kudos for referencing Bottle Green, which is one of my favorites.  She knows now that she was frightened that afternoon because she could see this night from there, but she wasn't sure how they would manage to cover the distance. Hot damn.  My heart is still racing.  Can't wait to read this again.  It has shot straight to the upper echelon of my favorites list.

Author's Response: Again, thanks, Nan. I happened to re-read Bottle Green as I was writing the second part of this and I just had to throw it in. The tension in that little nugget just *kills me* every time.

This. Is. Amazing. So nice, I read it twice (in a row). Please keep up the good work, and I can't wait for part three (and anything else you have in store). Every time a read a good engagement story, I think of how I would like to see it really happen, and I have to say, this is definitely at the top. Unfortunately, I don't think we're going to see the "Pam and the City" on the actual show, but I love how you've kept her in perfect characterization, but still being the Pam that we know. And smokin' hot (literally) Jim in cufflinks will be living in my head for days now. Excellent work again, Talkative.

Author's Response: Hi, my name is Talkative, and I have a cufflink fetish...

This is such a beautiful story.  In fact, it's not even finished and it's already one of my favorites.  I  will admit that sometimes I have a hard time seeing Pam in New York, but the way you describe her here?  She just fits.  And it's awesome because it's still the same Pam we know and love, but you've managed to make her totally in her element here.

I love the little touches - the name of the CD mixes Jim sends her, and Pam taking Dwight's stapler on an adventure throughout the city.  I can totally see them doing these little things.

Finally, I love that you've kept them together and shown that their relationship doesn't suffer because of her being away, but instead grows stronger.

Your writing is lovely and I really enjoy it.  Welcome to MTT!

Author's Response: Thanks, kells. The stapler will be making a return appearance in the final part. It's going to be a sleepy little stapler by the time I'm done with it.

I really liked this, Talkative. It's funny, I was looking up surname meanings the other day (totally bored at work), and I looked up Halpert and found out the same info. It's funny, because I always pictured Jim as Catholic, since JK is. Anyway, totally realistic Pam (something I always struggle with) and I loved the neighbor ladies. A refreshing break from all the angst floating around that as soon as Pam goes all NYC, she and Jim will hit the rocks. Please write some more!

Author's Response: Thanks, Mountaineers! Honestly, I think I wrote it this way because I'm trying to whistle past my worry that the writers will opt for the "hit the rocks" scenario come fall. ::shudder::

What a great way to end my monday! I love how you've written Pam...she's changing in subtle ways to fancy new york beesly while still being Pam. And I love how her and Jim are happy, and I really like this style. Great job, can't wait for more!

I love this. There are so many lines that I could cut and paste that I fell in love with. I love Pam in her vintage clothes and it seems right. I love her Jewish widowed neighbors and gah, just everything about this!

Amazing.

Author's Response: Gah! A review from Bashert! I love Bashert! Chocolate! Marching Bands of Manhattan! Thank you!

This is beautiful. One of my favourite things to notice and to note about characters is their quirks - that's what makes them unique, and that's exactly what made your Pam and even your Jim stand up and out, as lively individuals who aren't codependent but enjoy and love spending time with or communicating with the other. I absolutely love how you've written them - Pam is adorable and friendly and happy, and Jim is adorable and sweet and in love. And some of the passages made me melt as much as some of the others made me grin [a lot of them did both at the same time].

Loved this. The character in this has easily made this one of my favourite hey-Pam's-in-NYC! fic - probably because the how will their relationship survive?! melodrama has been avoided completely. ;)

I could tell you a lot more about why I love this but I feel I'm getting tedious already!! :D So I'll stop here and tell you that this is amazing. Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Not tedious at all, moo! Thanks for your kind words!

What a delightful surprise this Monday evening, Talkative!  I found myself sighing out loud while reading this.  This lovely, funky Pam that you have conjured up and her perfectly adorable man just tickle me.  The idea of her "collection of widows" makes me so happy, as does her quiet confidence and serenity.  A few of my favorites:

-  She feels clean, unencumbered, and in her proper place. That was my first sigh.  And then,

- He mails her Greetings from Scranton! postcards with notes like "Aren't you glad you aren't here?" scribbled on the back. He sends her poems and passages from books he is reading, copied down on Dunder-Mifflin stationery. So quirky and romantic.  And stil,

- He pulls gently on the shorn ends of her hair sticking out of her scarf, as if he could make unspool from her scalp. "Look at you," he says in a tone that makes her feel like a gift, "You look amazing."

Obviously, I could read this again and again and find something to appreciate each time, but I won't bore you.  Really and truly looking forward to more of this instant favorite and more from you.

Author's Response: Thanks, Nan! My mental starting point for the story was the last part that you quote. It's one of my favorite parts, too. I took it from there.

Wow, I fail at spelling continue. Anyway, great story, looking forward to the next chapter and all that - I love your Pam, and her adjustment to going back to school and living in the city. It's the small stuff about these characters that make them interesting.

Really great :) Love the part about Dwight and the beets!

Author's Response: Thank you! The convergence of beets, kosher cooking, and Dwight was just too much for me to resist.
