Love the parallel imagery to TJ, kells!  Just great.  And I honestly agree, knowing Jim as we do, that he wouldn't allow her away from him without the promise of an engagement.  Not that I think she would drift away from him in NYC.  Not at all.  But I think he would realize that having that ring on her finger would give her that extra boost of confidence for all the challenges she'll be facing in her new situation.  It would be one more form of proof of his love for her and his belief in her talents and abilities.  Does that make sense?

I don't know if I trust the writers not to screw around with us anymore, but I'm hoping to see that ring on her finger a la GWH, come September.  Especially if she attended Pratt over the summer.

Nice job with this, kells, as always.

Author's Response:

Hi EH!  It's great to hear from you.  Yes, in reality (what?  aren't they real people?) I think that Jim would have proposed to Pam before she actually left for NY, but this was me stretching believability a bit.  I like to live on the edge like that ;)

And I totally agree that he would want her to go knowing that he will always be there, and that he believes in her and will support her, no matter how far apart they were.   I clearly think about this way too much, lol.

Anyway, thanks for reading and reviewing!!

Beautiful.

Author's Response: Thanks, NanReg.  I have to say that I admire that you always leave reviews.  I can't say that I am as diligent as you are, and I need to work on that - but I really do appreciate that you do that.  It's always good to hear from you.

Oh my, kells...I love how you've taken this single moment and made it so full and powerful. Jim's urgency to do it NOW (forever change the landscape of their relationship - perfect.) Also, ignoring people yelling when he double parks is such a great detail.  And like how quiet, but utterly resolved the ending is. Hooray for understatement and hooray for this lovely piece!

Author's Response:

Colette I love how you notice the little details...and being a New Yorker yourself I bet you're no stranger to the frustration that is the double parker, lol.  It's been a while since I've lived in Manhattan, but some things stick with you.

I really was going for urgency here.  Like, Jim decided it HAD to be now and he couldn't wait until he did it.  Sort of like The Job.  He made up his mind, and that was it.  I was nervous that I didn't really convey that since it was a pretty short little number, so I'm glad to read that it came across that way for you.  Thanks for the wonderful review!!

*sigh* so sweet and wonderful and awesome. i'm glad he realized he can't let her move to the city without that ring on her finger. i might have to read this over and over again whenever the sting of the non-proposal gets to me.

thanks for sharing :)

Author's Response: Yes, I refuse to believe that Jim would NOT propose to Pam before she moved over two hours away.  I will hold on to that belief until I am proven wrong, and I hope I never am :)  Glad you enjoyed this, Sharipep - thanks for reading and reviewing.
