I'm new to this site so I'm gradually catching up on as many previously written stories as I have time (making sacrifices for my fandom..LOL). This is the most realistic sounding proposal story I've read.

Oh, and I got the Green Acres reference. [sings badly]Land, spreadin' out so far and wide[/sings badly]

Author's Response: Thanks jazzfan! Realistic is just what I was going for. Thanks for leaving a review! I appreciate it.

oh wow. WOW. this was...so fantastic. so sharp and succint. you got their dynamic down so well, and there were a few parts that just HIT HOME:

I shook my head miserably. “I can’t do this.”

For a second he looked really alarmed, and then he glanced down at my Pratt brochure and the printouts of class schedules scattered over the table, and visibly relaxed.

how perfectly you captured what has to be jim's constant fear that things are too good to last. and this line? MELTED ME. and i am NOT a chick who melts easily...just the image was amazing:

He pushed his chair away from the table and stood up. “Don’t you know that everything I have is yours?” he said quietly.

and the proposal, the fact that nothing works out like they think it will...man. i envy this piece from first line to last. favorited, if i could be so bold?

Author's Response: Well, of course you can favorite it. I'm honored. :) Good to know it was able to melt you. I dunno, I just like to think about the realistic aspect of things... I'm willing to bet they won't bother addressing the money issue on the show. But that's what fanfic is for, right? :D

I'm so happy that I'm going back and reading all your fic cause ummmm it's brilliant.  This was so amazing.  The tension in the "fight" scene was incredible, the description of Jim's tight jaw, I could only think of that scene in "Boys and Girls" and it gives me stomach knots.  And then the make up sex (of course) and a naked!proposal...nothing better.

wonderful wonderful job

Author's Response: Thanks PPC! Glad you think my stuff is worth reading :) Until we see them fight for real, it's interesting to think what form their arguments might take. And what's better than a naked proposal? :)~

oh i just love this... so much.  for lack of a better word, it's edgy, and maybe it's a little dark, which i think makes a great engagement/what pam did over summer vacation fic.

Author's Response: Thanks Emilys List! I'm glad you liked it. Thanks a bunch for taking the time to leave a comment...it means a lot to me. :D

Totally caught the Green Acres reference! And what a great story. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Hooray for post-coital proposals! ;)

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. :)

Really enjoyed this. You have a great talent for writing Jim and Pam in character, and making their dialogue sound believable. The story is also very real. Going to New York and taking classes there is easier said than done. It seems very realistic that Pam would run into this issue. Great Job

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm intrigued by how they will handle real-life problems like this, and I'm glad you thought it rang true. Thanks for reading and taking the time to review!

lol of COURSE I got the Green Acres reference! who doesn't love that theme song?  Is it just me? Anyway I'm so glad Lovefool rec'd this today over on the boards because it was AMAZING.  I really really enjoyed it, and it was so beautifully crafted with a clear direction and clear thoughts and great emotional impact.  Great job, and thank you for sharing this!

Author's Response: Yay that you know Green Acres Stablergirl! I think EVERYBODY should know that theme song. I'm glad you enjoyed this and I'm really happy to hear that you thought it was well crafted, because it came to me as two separate ideas. So, good to know. :) Thanks for reading and sharing your thoughts, and thanks to LoveFool for recommending it! You guys rock. Totally made my day.

I got it!  Also, I am a city-loving girl who was proposed to by a country-loving guy.  And later found out I am allegic smelling hay!

Yeah for the realistic approach to the money situation; I'm curious as to how (or if) the writers are going to address it.

Author's Response: I am pleased and impressed to find that the theme song of Green Acres is, apparently, well known despite the fact that it's a pretty old show. :) I have my doubts about whether the show will address it at all, to be honest. Thanks for reading!

...you are my wife...goodbye city life!  How's that?  : )

Callisto hits one out of the park...again!  This story had such depth of emotion.    He pushed his chair away from the table and stood up. “Don’t you know that everything I have is yours?” he said quietly.  And THAT is when my heart went right up into my throat and stayed there.  Fantastic.  Off to read this again.

Author's Response: What can I say, I think in pop culture references. Thanks for the kind words, Nan. That was probably my favorite bit that you quoted, so, yeah, thanks. :) Glad you liked it.

Green Acres is my fave :D I think they should make a remake of Green Acres involving Kelly and Dwight! Great work - I love girly!Pam: "Ring please!"

Author's Response: OMG that would be hilarious. Kelly at the beet farm... I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!

'Darling I love you, but give me Park Avenue...' Bonus points if you work in Mr. Haney or Arnold Ziffle next time;-)

Really enjoyed this - liked Pam struggling with the 'tax deductible' issues of her adventure, Jim's surprise/anger/hurt at her attitude, their fight - all very real and true to character. Throw in a nekkid slithering, striding Jim and you're golden, lol. Thanks for this.

Author's Response: Sometimes the most random things pop into my head and that's where Green Acres came from. Nice to know people still remember it. I'm glad this came off as real; I couldn't help wondering about these details and how it might affect them. And nekkid Jim is always fun, isn't it. :D I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for reading.

Yay! New story from Callisto! Very nice work. I was thinking about how Pam is going to be able to pay for school, also. She's a bit old for her parents to be helping her, and a receptionist from Scranton wouldn't be able to afford an expensive school like Pratt on her own, so I wonder what the writers are going to dream up for her to magically pay for it. I can see a situation like this happening, where Jim helps her out. Once again, excellence.

Author's Response: Thanks Mountaineers! The realist in me always wonders about these kind of details. As a perpetual college student myself, I couldn't help wanting to explore it. I'm glad you liked it, and thanks for reading!

I enjoyed every word of this.  I can SO see this happening and I felt like the tension and the fight you created here was very believable -- as what that hot make up scene. Great work.

Author's Response: Thanks LoveFool! I'm glad you liked it. And it's always nice to be told it's believable. Thanks for reading. :)

What a nice twist on a proposal story! I liked the bit of realistic angst that it had; you wrote her worries out really clearly, and it was easy to see how she could get so frustrated. I liked that Jim finally came clean about wanting to propose too, which of course was adorable. Nice job!

Author's Response: Thanks! The practical side of me always wonders about these things. I'm glad you found it realistic. Thanks for reading, I'm glad you liked it!

Very well done! I really liked the realism of this. Money's an issue for everyone, so why wouldn't it be for Jim and Pam? Good resolution too...nice job :)

Author's Response: Thank you! It's interesting to think how they'd tackle real problems. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reading!

Fantastic! I love that you brought up this issue and I LOVED the resolution!

“You’re very sweet. Ring, please."
BEST. LINE. EVER.

I like this because it's very real.  It's fun to daydream and think about Pam going to New York and turning into super-chic art girl, but it's really not that simple.  NY is an expensive place to live, plus tuition, plus supplies - reality isn't nearly as fun, lol.  So I like that you tackled this here.  It's an actual, real issue that I could see them having.  Great job.

Author's Response: Exactly. I've been in school a long time and face the same issues, so I couldn't help wondering how she'd tackle all of that. I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for reading!

Ooh, that is a nice change-up from the butterflies and rainbows version of the proposal.  And the money is a new source of strife for our starry-eyed visions of the summer.

Life is messy.

Author's Response: Yes, life is messy. And real. It could be fun to explore how they deal with stress and conflicts, since we haven't seen any on the show yet. Thanks for reading!

“Jim, I promise I will gladly spend all your money when I am your wife,” I vowed solemnly. “Now don’t you think it’s time you quit teasing me?”

What a GREAT proposal acceptance!  As usual, you come up with a totally different spin on things … and I LOVE it!  How the hell do you pump these great stories out so fast?!?!?

Author's Response: Thanks VB! I'm burned out (?) - or stuck, or something, on the other one, so, just writing down bits of ideas the other day and these seemed to come together. I'm glad you liked it!
