Love it... in this little ficlet you've managed to get across the idea that even though these things are incredibly shallow, they're still meaningful to Kelly.

This is great! You just know Kelly and Katy would be BFFs.
One little mistake though, fyi...I think it should be "Katy looks down at her nail polish, surprised."
