I love here that Jim knows she's hurting but doesn't want to push her, and so he just does something quiet and sweet to help make it better.

And desk sex, wowza.

"She thinks that if he could just be like that all the time, she might actually believe it when she tells people she's happy."

What an awesome line. I liked that you showed Pam and Roy could have good times but how quickly those good times can evaporate.

Nice job with this.  Love the sandwich metaphor.  Jim didn't realize how close to the heart his innocent comment struck.  And poor Pam, feeling the guilt again, and yet still has hope that Roy will somehow change for the better, even though she knows he's been discussing their office tryst with the other guys, ick.  Thankfully, that's all in the past, now. :)

They were so in character! Really great job. I usually don't read stuff if it is going to be outright sex, but this caught my interest and I'm glad I read.

I can't wait to see what you have planned for Ryan/Kelly. They are such an interesting pair.

Author's Response: Thanks for taking a chance on this. I'm very pleased you liked it. Ryan and Kelly are giving me a bit of trouble right now, I have to admit. I agree they're an interesting pair, they're just not being all that cooperative!

Blanca, I really liked this! I wasn't going to read it, honestly, because I like some steam (and sometimes some smut), but all too often it gets really raunchy. But this was a perfect blend and it fit the characters (Roy, I mean). I like all of Pam's thoughts about Jim, that denial she is so good at. I like how Jim shares his sandwich at the end (he would do that, wouldn't he?). Great job!

Author's Response: Thanks, wendolf! I think smut is one of the most difficult things to write well. And I'm not saying I do. It's just so easy to get it wrong and take the reader completely out of the story. That's why I usually skip over those bits. And why the rest of the chapters may be less steamy than people might think. I really appreciate that you gave this a chance, though! Your comments mean so much.

Aw, I really liked this. I liked that there was still a trace of warmth between Pam and Roy, that it wasn't so black and white, like "Roy's an idiot and Pam's stupid for staying with him." I like seeing the complexity of their relationship and the little things that hold her to him. And the end--Jim giving her the sandwich without asking questions--so sweet and so like them. I have to say I was surprised that I liked this as much as I did, 'cause I don't like angst and therefore don't like reading stories about the past so much. So yeah, really loved this, can't wait to see what's next :)

Author's Response: I'm so glad you liked this. And you totally got what I was going for in terms of Pam and Roy's relationship. Even though I will always root for Pam and Jim, I did kind of have a soft spot for Roy in S3 (up until The Negotiation, that is). And I think it's hard to escape some angst in anything set during S1-S2, but I tried not to pour it on too thick. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
