This is a very sensitive, delicate treatment. It is, perhaps, a shade darker than what we saw of Holly, but maybe that's just the difference between the daytime and nightime versions. Regardless, this was skillfully done and very evocative. Lovely work.

Author's Response: I agree this is definitely darker then anything we'd see in the show. I think many times how people act during the day (i.e. at work) is different than who they really are at night, especially alone. So this was an attempt to do that, in a way. Thank you for the review and the kind words nqllisi.

At least fic gives us nice things, since the show won't!  I loved the image of illuminating without apology and was completely taken with the idea of the other half of the sigh.  It should be interesting to see how close this is to what we will (hopefully) learn about Holly in the new season.

Author's Response: I'm glad that you liked those parts of the story, belsum. I'm not quite sure what we're going to learn about Holly this season, but I hope it's a lot. Sadly, I don't think that's going to happen though, which is one of the reasons I was motivated to write this. Thank you for taking the time to review, I appreciate it and your kind words.

It's interesting to me that you wrote Holly as very much the type of person I envision Michael to be when he is alone.  Is that true for you, too?  And, if yes, was the parallel intentional?

Author's Response:

Hey, Vampiric Blood, thanks for taking the time to review. As to your questions...

There was definitely a deliberate attempt in this story to somewhat parallel Michael and Holly, because not only did they have a connection so quickly, but because they are both near forty-ish or forty-ish and single. Add to that the fact that I wrote Holly never having been engaged (like Michael) and you have some similarities. I think where they would seperate, at least with respect to this story, is the amount of emotion and depression of Holly. She is somewhat more emotional, and that is owed somewhat to her surroundings (the motel room), not because she's a woman (Michael is a pretty emotional guy). Thanks for the questions!

I love stories like this, a character alone at the end of the day, full of introspection and thought. And I really like that you've taken on Holly here and given us a glimpse into what might have been going through her head. Since we know virtually nothing about her, I'd say your interpretation is as valid as anyone's, and certainly feels plausible to me.

Nicely done!

Author's Response: I'm glad that you like stories like this Cousin Mose. They are exactly the type of stories that I tend to write. It's definitely fun trying to create a back story for a character whom we know practically nothing about, and I'm glad that you found it plausible. Thank you for taking the time to review, I know that this kind of story usually does not garner them.
