I love that, in this story, Pam and Jim are getting a healthy happily ever after and Karen is, too!! There’s something painful and REAL in that like where, when Pam isn’t around, Karen thinks he could love her. God, it’s this hopefully hopeless situation so many of us have experienced in some aspect of life, if not love. A really wonderful story. Thank you!

Thank you. Thank you for writing Karen in a good way. I want her to stay away as much as the next person, but I want a happy ending for her. She isn't a horrible person (anymore), and was treated badly by Jim in a way. So, I'm glad she was able to move on in a way, and is really ready. I'll take this as what really will happen.

This story is love. I ended up really liking Karen... after she wasn't on the show anymore, but still. That scene at the drugstore was perfect. Great work!

"And maybe she is stupid, because instead of packing her bags and finding a new, better job somewhere, anywhere, else; she sits watching everyone in the office watch Jim watch Pam, and pretend that this is all okay."

Wow, you hit it out of the park with this one. (Yes, I'm watching the Phillies and Dodgers, why do you ask?) Seriously, what an amazing job you did showing us inside Karen's heart. I've been anti-Karen for so long that it's nice to read something that reminds me that Karen wasn't as much the villaness in the triangle as she was the victim. Very, very well done!

I absolutely adore Everybody Knows by Ryan Adams. It never even occurred to me until I re-listened to it now on my iPod how it totally fits the situation the three of them were in. I do believe Karen was in love with Jim. How else could she have put up with all she put up with? Glad that you've written a happy ending for her far, far away. :) Well done bashert.

I really, really loved this. I wish Karen had gotten cut some slack on the show; after The Job, she really wasn't shown in the best light, and that makes me sad. I hope we get to find out on the show that Karen gets her happy ending too =)

Very nice story. I particularly like this: "maybe she's the lead in this story, the story of Karen and Paul". I'm not sure she'd be so kind in her thoughts about Pam, but distance can change minds I guess. I really enjoyed this, thank you for sharing it.

Firstly... Please don't ever come back on the show, but I hope there's a happy ending out there for you somewhere.

That cracked me up, because I thought the same thing as I started reading what the fic was about. I loved Karen, but not for Jim =)

That was so beautifully written, it made me go a little gooey, especially thinking of him as an English teacher guh :)

MORE =)

I always get a little thrill when I see a new fic from you, bashert, because I know it will be a good read.  Even though this is a Karen fic, I love it.  Whenever people make me like Karen, it's quite an accomplishment.

Great paragraph:  It occurs to her, fairly often actually, that in all probability, she's just a footnote in the epic story "Jim and Pam: An Office Romance." If this was a movie, she would be the secondary character used to cause angst for a short amount of time. The girl he's with right now before he figures out he can have the girl of his dreams. That sums it all up I think.

Love the image of Jim buying diapers and formula.  "Dwightina" gave me a good laugh.

Great ending, too.  Excellent job.

Nicely done, bash.  Karen needs a break.  Somewhere, far, far away from Scranton & DM.

Aw I like this - and even though I didn't like Karen as the third part of a triangle, I'd like her to have a happy ending - because she just had crappy luck, basically.

Great story. :)

Oh, Karen.

That last paragraph is so much love. Good work!
