You don't own a pink sweater?.... I don't think I do either. I don't even think I own anything that can qualify as a sweater.

Aww, this is just cute. that Jim fell in love with her with her sweater. And she kind of liked him even when he just stared. And then they talked.

Author's Response:

Sweaters are sort of a requirement for me considering that there are at least 6 inches of snow on the ground outside my window right now. And it hasn't snowed since last week. So that's just the stuff that's left over from the previous storm. :(

Oh well, the best cure for bad weather is fanfic. I've decided. Glad you liked this story. :)

Oh Azlin, I love this. I agree with Sweetpea about the 1950's feel. It must be that pink sweater...I keep picturing Jim like Tobey Maguire working the counter in Pleasantville and that pink sweater is the only dot of color in the place. Anyway, this is just great, still captures their essence as characters even in these different settings. Nice!

Author's Response:

Yeah, I should've made it a pink hoodie or something. ;) Looking back, I think there are several things that make it feel 50s-ish. To me, it's the sweater (like you mentioned), the fact that Jim says something about her sitting at the counter (like the restaurant is a diner), and the word "sweethearts" in the summary.

At any rate, I'm glad it still felt in character for you, regardless of the decade.

Azlin, I don't know why I got such a 1950s feel while reading this, but I did and I just loved it.  At the same time, it was perfect S2 Jim - I kind of miss that longing from afar a little - and just beautifully written.

Author's Response:

It's funny that you got that 50s vibe because I didn't really intend for it to be there, but reading over it again I can totally see why you did. I was kind of picturing a group of high schoolers at Denny's or something, but I decided not to make it too specific and I think it works because it feels really timeless to me now.

I miss that longing, too. Jim's just too much fun to write when he's being too shy to do anything about his feelings for Pam.

Anyway, thanks for reading! I'm glad you liked it.

I love stories where they meet in high school! :) This was a beautiful idea that was executed flawlessly. Fantastic job.

Author's Response: Thanks! I'm so glad you liked it. I haven't written a five things fic in forever, but I started with just Jim's scenes and let the whole thing develop from there.
