Winningly plausible. Our poor angsty darlings.

This is a rollercoaster of a single-chapter fic, and well worth the ride. I wish it had a companion from Pam's PoV but honestly that is just me being selfish, because this is great.

Just re-read this, honey, thanks to dear S.K.'s Looking-for-a-Fic post in the forum, and it's every bit as beautiful as the first time.  I wish you would start churning out the fic again.  *sigh*

A bit late in reading this, but just want to say I loved it. I was hooked from the v.beginning.

I alwyas thought Jim leaving for Stamford was probably the catalyst for Pam calling off her marriage, as Pam realized how much she'd miss him, sicne that didn't happen I found everything that happened instead entirely believable.

And thanks for making it a happy ending :)

Looking forward to reading more form you!

They really do need to have an exponential star rating for stories like this.  So, here you go:

****************************************************************************************************************
****************************************************************************************************************
****************************************************************************************************************
****************************************************************************************************************
****************************************************************************************************************
****************************************************************************************************************

You do such an outstanding job of conveying Jim's hollowness as he lives through this affair with Pam.  So many wonderful turns of phrase.  I love what you did with Mark in this story.  The way you mark the months and the changes in their relationship is wonderful.  I could go on & on.  Just love all of it.  (As evidenced by the fact that I sat up reading this for like the third time till 2 a.m. on a work night!)

The only thing I would suggest is that you take another pass through the story and fix the places where you inadvertently switched to present tense.  The rest of the writing is so pitch perfect.

Oh, and I went to YouTube and listened to "Happy Ending."  I can see where this inspired the arc of the story.  The lyrics perfectly fit your image of Jim's predicament:

This is the way that we love,
Like it's forever.
Then live the rest of our life,
But not together.

I'm so glad you decided to change the outcome!

And now, I had really better get some sleep!

Author's Response: Why, thanks for all the stars, haha. And for such a nice review. =) And, damn, I swear I went through the story and had to switch like half of the story because I went back and forth in tenses. And still missed some, haha. Thank you, though, I'll have to read through it again!rnrnIsn't it a great song? It just gets so emotional and captivating, how could you not be inspired? Guh, I love it, and the live performances of that song are amazing, too. Go Mika. Thanks for reading!

Achingly good.  What an emotional rollercoaster this was.  Well worth the ride.  Great insight and just captivating from beginning to end.  Kudos.

Author's Response: Thank you! =)

This was recommended to me by someone on the MTT forum so I thought I'd give it a quick read on my lunch hour.  Well, my lunch hour turned into 1 1/2 hours because I could not stop reading.  I was so late getting back to work, but it was totally worth it.  While reading I was so angry with Pam and my heart just ached for Jim.  Then I had to remind myself that these are fictional characters and Pam never married Roy and Jam is happy on the show.  The ending surprised me.  This was so very good.  Thanks for posting it.

Author's Response: It was almost hard to have Pam hold out for that long, I didn't know if it seemed realistic. But I guess if the real Pam stayed with him for ten years she could have easily married him and taken a long time to get out of it, really. And, yeah, I agree -- very happy with the way things are on the show! Thanks for the review. =)

I'm exhausted, but in a good way. I was afraid it was going to end badly.
A wonderfully done tangle of angst.

Author's Response: Again, angst was an intimidating thing to me, so thank you. =)

Um...I...you...this story was....

Amazing. I'm speechless. This was powerful in imagery, in small details, perfectly voiced in character, and the drama and angst was so heartfelt and honest. This was perfect. I look forward to more of your stories.

Author's Response: Thanks, I was so worried about writing angst, I'm glad so many of you have nice things to say. =)

Your story has left me all kinds of amazed. I am truly breathless. I started reading the first couple of paragraphs before I rushed out the door but then I realized, this was a story worth savoring. So I ran my errands, came home, grabbed my laptop, and literally sat by the fire and read this....and what an experience it was!

I just have nothing at all coherent to say, as you can see, other than I was completely blown away by how epic and right-on this story was. I was exhausted by the time Pam finally got her act together, exhausted for Jim and exhausted for Pam, but it was exhausted in that GREAT way that makes you feel like laughing uncontrollably! :)

I also love, by the way, that this was a one-shot. I think it worked perfectly like that.

Okay, I'll stop drooling over this now. Just....thank you!

Author's Response: Thank you for such a nice review! I'm glad I went with it being a one-shot. I was worried people would not read it seeing it all at once, and I'm sure a lot of people aren't, but like I said about the song, I think it's great when it's all just there and in front of you. =)

Author's Response: Wow, thank you! You guys are so nice! I'm just glad people actually had the patience to sit down and read such a long piece. And you reviewing confirms you are alive. Update One Day. Now. Go!

I have no words to describe this...it's just pure epic-ness.

I usually don't read AU or post-S2 stories, but this one really pulled me in (:

Author's Response: Thank you! You guys are totally inflating my ego here. =) Glad you enjoyed it.

I'm dead.  I'm done.  I feel like I just watched a really good movie.  What a rollercoaster ride!  Is it sick that I loved reading about a JAM affair?  I so did!  This was heartbreaking and sexy and, thankfully, finally happy.  I was especially touched by the image of Jim feeling small when with his mother.  Guh.  Great job.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, you guys are too kind! =)

Oh GOD that was fabulous.  Season 2/Married-and-Affair related angsty stories usually make me feel icky on the inside, but I just could not stop reading, even if there was going to be an unhappy ending.  But there wasn't.  Amazing job! :D

Author's Response: Thank you! See, I agree, I generally think cheating/affairs are not that romantic and really sad and awful. Which is kinda why I threw in that thing with Mark being bitter, and stuff like that. And tried not to make Roy out to be, like, a murderer like he is portrayed sometimes. I'm happy it didn't totally throw you off. =)

Wow, this is stunning. Just when I thought I'd had my fill of Post-S2 stories, this one knocks me on my butt. Very well done, and angsty. I thought for sure there would be no happy ending, but I guess there is, right? Good job.

Author's Response: Thanks so much! God, I think I'd be very upset with myself if I wrote a story without a happy ending. I'm such a sucker, I guess.
