Is this the "meringue" of which you spoke, my dear?  If so (and even if not) it is delicious, light and fluffy.  Ah, note the stiff peaks--success!  Heeee :)  I was so delightfully surprised to see this posted on this dreary afternoon--no snow, but lots of rain :(  Gave me a good excuse to close my door and settle in for a good read.

Aaaaanyway, I sure do love this back-door description of a JAM wedding.  I so want it to happen like this--without the fuss and spectacle.  Love your talk of "Mom and Dad's Room," an image that really takes me back to being little and entering that room with reverence.

Your descriptions of Jim's thoughts on Pam's dress really send me:

When she told him just that, he shrugged and asked her to turn so he could see the back again. She watched his eyes in the mirror as she pivoted on the ball of her bare foot; and,

It takes a minute for his answer to come, as he seems to be lost under her hands. Finally, his head beginning to arch deeper into his pillow, he manages, "You looked beautiful in that dress."

*big sigh* How dreamy is that?!

You never disappoint, Talkative.

Author's Response: Tink! The smutcake is still in the oven! Three layers, ganache, and dark chocolate sprinkles! I'm terrified of it! While I know that there's no possible way that what I've written here is what actually happened during this month-long pause, I hope I've captured the spirit of what will eventually be canon truth - simple and sweet and private. You're always so kind to me, dear. Thanks so much.

I love your take on the whole 'elopement' story;;;
I agree they don't seem like very 'las vagas' type people, so this fic works for me (:

Author's Response: Thanks, mixedbreed. I'm wary of wedding/elopement fic myself, so I was surprised when this just sort of happened. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, NYE elopement.  I'm all for it, as long as we get a photo or something.  Jim in a wedding band= totally effing hot.  I hope it's part of his wardrobe for S6.

Author's Response: I have told dear Mr. Talkative (who, impossibly, got 50% more handsome the second I put that ring on him) that there is nothing hotter than a good-looking man wearing a wedding ring. My more feminist and liberal sensibilities are powerless in the face of it. Guh. Thanks for your review, lisa. I'm going to go kiss my husband now.

Talkative! What a pleasure to find this mere minutes before I head off to my first class of the quarter. I love this take on the 'impulse' wedding-- still quiet and private, but all the family is there; I like that better than an elopement, because they seem like two people who would definitely want their parents there.

This bit was beautiful:

Like everything else about them, the timing made a sort of irresistible sense. She thought of the breathless kiss that he gave her nearly three years ago; the way it pulled at something very basic and obvious in her that she wanted nothing more than to ignore.

As always, your writing intimidates... um, I mean, inspires me. :) Beautiful job, as always!

Author's Response: Hello, callisto & a happy start to your new term in school! Thanks for your kind review. I agree - Jim and Pam are not Las Vegas/Atlantic City people, but I can very easily see them sidestepping all of the trappings of a traditional wedding, esp. given Pam's past. Though I know it's frustrating some people, I'm kind of in love with how shut down and closed off Pam and Jim are this season. It's an unusual way to portray happiness, but it makes perfect sense given the "rules" of the show. I wanted to play with that sense of isolation and privacy. I know it's a hair sappier than I usually go, but it made me very happy to write this story. Thanks again.
