"Love is the enemy of sanity"

Awsome phrase! Did you write that?

Author's Response: Yes, though the concept certainly isn't anything new. =)

You are correct about the WTF of it all. Like WTF was with Jim leaving Pam? And WTF was with the bartender telling Pam how to get drunk and then kicking her out of the bar? And WTF was with Dwight not buying her nachos?

PS I really liked these lines:

"He finally got the girl, and then found the chase infinitely more interesting than the prize."

"I loved him and now I love Long Island iced teas!" Pam whooped and held up her empty glass, tottering dangerously on the stool."

Author's Response: Re-reading this after some time has passed, I would change a lot about that first section, especially after more of season 5 has aired. I'd maybe make Jim's leaving more about profound insecurity and fear of commitment than the chase/prize. As for the bartender, I bet he's seen Pam in there for two weeks, thinks she's not a lot of trouble, but then is surprised when she turns into a rowdy drunk. He didn't ban her; just didn't want her causing more trouble, or starting a brawl by stealing other people's food. Also, Dwight doesn't know that when a drunk wants food, they'll eat almost anything; he was more worried about her throwing up (I usually self-check: am I going to throw up? No. OK, I need to eat something NOW).rnrnLIIT are nature's most perfect drink. Been shit-faced on them many times, and never regretted it once.

Yay.  I'm glad that you wrote this.  It's been so hard to find stories that aren't Jam these days, and yours has been a gleaming beacon of light all alone in the darkness.  Also, Dwam, which is a personal favourite of mine.

Author's Response: I do appreciate the kind words. I am thinking of concentrating on things other than Jam, as it seems that's an area well-covered by other people (who frighten me a little with their zealousness--no offense all you Jam zealots). I'll try to keep that beacon lit.rnrnAnd quite honestly, I think Pam is one of the very few people with the patience and nature to deal effectively with Dwight.

What a neat quirky little story. I always like it when people take chances on content that is, shall we say, a bit out of the ordinary. Very well written.

Author's Response: Well thanks. I enjoy out of the ordinary, and I know it's not for everyone, but it's just so much fun. Everyone should try it at least once; they'd probably get addicted.

I never thought 'Dwight' and 'hot' could ever go together.  It's creeping me out.

Author's Response: Don't worry. You'll wake up when it's all over and things will be back to normal. Just don't eat all that spicy food before reading fanfics in bed again.

I once drove a Ryder truck across half the continental USA.  And not the little moving van ones, but the very large kind that you can put a car in the back.   It had air brakes.  Those require a different license.  Which I don't have.  And we did have a car in the back. I drove that for 16 consecutive hours.  The biggest thing I'd ever driven before that was a minivan.  The very first thing I did with the truck was knock over one of those concrete-filled steel posts that they have around gas stations.  I never noticed and kept on driving until one of the other guys in the convoy in which I was driving told me to stop so they could inspect the damage.  Fun.

Author's Response: Hm. Maybe I should have give Pam a concussion. Wish I had thought of that before.

My reaction is still: WTF?! and that's what you were going for, so high five! :D

Author's Response: You know I have to say, I'm afraid it won't get any less WTF. =)

She was pleased to see her own car was unmolested (unlike herself--what the hell?)

Heh heh.  Funny, tragically sexy, naked Dwight... what's not to like?

I've always thought that Dwight and Pam were perfect for each other.  Carry on.

Author's Response: I hope I don't disappoint then.

you're right, that IS a big ol' "wtf" haha

Pam/Dwight gives me the Heebie Jeebies! I must admit though, I am intrigued

Author's Response: I used to, many years ago, write fluff and waff and romance. Then it got boring, so now I go immediately for the WTF factor. Not everyone's cup of tea, but more satisfying when I can actually convert people to the warped side.

Wow. I did not expect that. Wow...that was heartbreaking and stunning and I hope you don't mind me saying so, but I really, really hope it never happens on the show! LOL
Seriously: Great job. Really interesting and different. :)

Author's Response: I like the character dynamics generally as they are on the show; this story is in no way a 'OH MAN if only THIS would happen then it would be the BEST THING EVER!' statement. I just like turning things on their ears to see what happens. And I will make a serious attempt at eating a shoe if it ever happens on the show.
