Ugh. This one is so well-written it hurts.

This totally made my heart break for Jim, and while I don't think Pam will be coming back, I'm glad he did have the time (and sex twice!) with her.  Poor S2 Jim.

Emily...you really need to grace us with your presence more often.  This was pretty spectacular.  It's not often that I care to go back to that time when everything was just so damn angsty, but this was beautiful.  I can so imagine that things might've happened this way.  Jim's ache seems palpable.  Loved it.

Author's Response: oh, LoveFool, thank you so much! to be honest, what is happening now between them is not as easy to write. s2 had blanks to fill in, which makes it fun. but painful. thank you for the feedback!

Ah, bullet to my heart. If anything like this had happened at that point - this is precisely as it would have been. The reckless ecstasy of finally being with her (despite knowing the potential cost) and subsequent deflated agony of not knowing whether she'd come for him, or as retribution for Roy. Hell, I doubt she knew herself. So very much their psychodrama in S2. And, as usual, you include so many little subtle moments that make it feel almost painfully real (the scrabble convo, pancakes, how he tries to stop it, his nervousness about whether it was okay, etc.) And your final line is about as sad and true as I can imagine. I love when you write, Emily...I really do. ;-)

Author's Response: oh, colette. i owe you a completed fic, don't i :) i tried to write a chapter the other day but it just wasn't flowing. i think i need major time with my laptop... anyway, thanks for the feedback as always, so careful and thorough. very kind of you, and as always, i'm happy that you're picking up what i'm putting down :)

I really like the arc of this piece.  I like how Pam's story is patently not believable, but you don't let us in on what really happened between her & Roy.  I like that you have them have sex in the shower the next day.  Doing it again after they've woken up together is a much more deliberate form of cheating than the impetuous moment of the night before.  Didn't foresee Roy's appearance!

And I love how open-ended the closing is.  Will she or won't she come back?  And on what terms?

I like it all!

Author's Response: i love everything you said here. thank you so much, this is so wonderful to read that you got what i was aiming for... thank you for writing!

This was so good.  I am so angry at Pam for lying to Jim about what happened that made her wind up at his front door.  You made me believe she slept with Jim only as revenge against what Roy did.  I can see her going home and admitting as much to Roy.  I'm not as hopeful as Jim that Pam will come back to him.  Not season 2 Pam anyway.

Loved this:  “What was your longest relationship?” You, he thought, but this wasn’t a relationship. Not the kind she meant and not the kind he wanted.  This really tugged at my heart for poor Jim.

Another Emilys List fic to add to my favorites!  Happy to see new stories from you. :)

Author's Response: thanks for writing! first of all - i don't think pam slept with jim out of revenge. maybe the thought occurred to her, but i think she was more overall charged from spending time with him at night, drunk, while thoughts of what happened earlier danced in her head. i don't think s2 pam would go back to jim, i think you are right. but i'm not sure! yeah, poor jim. he does take a lot of abuse in this story.... thanks again for the feedback!!

::adds to favorites::  Darling Emily, my long lost friend.  Thought of you today while reviewing my favorites, and here you are!  I can only hope that your muse is visiting you again.

I LOVED this fic like a fat kid loves cake.  The only problem is that, like that fat kid, I wanted more.  I could have read this for, like, another half hour.  Seriously.  (Oh, BTW, Notting Hill?  One of my favorites.  Hugh Grant is one of my guilty pleasures...like fanfic :) )  Poor Jim.  Guh.  To be able to be with his girl, knowing that the situation's not ideal?  Man oh man.  And Roy showing up?!  Dummy me didn't expect that.  I've said this once before and caused you stress (but you came through):  sequel?  It's begging for it.  I know it.  You know it.  So does everyone else.  OK.  I'm done causing trouble here.  Great job!

Author's Response: oh, hi, NanReg!! thank you so much for the feedback. i will tell you something, though; i have no idea how this ends! i think that we can go all s2 pam/jim and she stays with roy and they never talk about any of it. or, maybe after that night, she's sure of how she feels about jim. i was very careful not to have pam admit anything or indicate anything -- because i think she still had so much to sort out for herself. so, i'm not sure a sequel is in the cards, but there are some thoughts on what's next. there is more fic coming, i promise. it's just a question of when :)

This was a really great story! It wouldn't have been as successful if it had been written any other way. Good job.

Author's Response: wow - that's quite a compliment! thank you!

Uh uh uh uh uh that was freaking amazinnnnnnnnnng. Like you blow my mind kind of amazing. Oh how I have missed your fics.

Author's Response: thank you thank you!! i'm sorry to have been absent, but i have a ton of fic to post and to edit -- i am hoping i'll be able to get it up soon. (oops -- unintentional that's what she said.)
