This is one of my favorite Dwight-Jim friendship fics.

I think you've painted Pam as every gamer's fantasy girlfriend. I was a WOW widow for about 3 weeks before I made my husband pull the plug. That was after I slaved over dinner for hours and he grabbed his plate and headed back to the computer. I realize its fiction, and its well written, but I don't think Pam's that patient. Good story though.

Author's Response: I've tried to come up with a response about five different ways. I guess it boils down to this (not snarky or superior here, just my thoughts and experience): Pam really does have the patience of a saint; Diablo II is a much easier game to set down and walk away from than WoW--you can play all day, or for just 15 minutes; and I do know there are couples that game very avidly together (so perhaps Pam is a late bloomer). Thank you for reading, and your comments

I don't know this game at all, but I loved the story.  It was really cute and you managed to keep everyone very much in character.  I especially loved the ending, when Dwight says, "Jim, no!  That's not a woman!"  He's lookin out for his buddy.  So hilarious.  Thanks so much for sharing this.

Author's Response: I'm glad the game aspect of it didn't deter you, and more glad you liked it. It was my pleasure to share it with everyone. Thank you.

i felt like i was sitting listening to my brother on his xbox live. haha. classic though. and very interesting...

Author's Response: No matter how old or new the game is, video game chat will always sound the same. :) Thanks for the comments.

This brings back SO many memories it actually hurts my heart. That was awesome. I love how Jim is a gaming geek AND that he gets all grr when he plays, that's hot lol. Pam awatting up on the game and joining in was BRILLIANT.

I do love when Jim and Dwight work together, they love each other really.

You're awesome. Keep writing!

Author's Response: I get that little voice asking if I want to play, and I do, but that 800x600 resolution makes my eyes bleed. I remember the game so fondly. If Jim let himself, he'd be just as serious as Dwight about it, so he's just denying his true nature. Figure that gaming is how he keeps himself mellow the rest of the time (even if he's not an FPS fan). Jim denies it, but those two have so much in common it's ridiculous. And if Pam wants to keep up, she's got to understand what's going on so she HAS to play too (and maybe show Jim up in the process). I expect when Diablo III comes out, there will be some extremely late nights, and not in a sexy late night way, for them all. :)

Frodolph! This is awesome, and I am not a video game nerd. Amazing banter, especially loved "you're adequate". Ha!

Author's Response: I'm glad to see the game stuff wasn't a turn-off. That was probably my biggest worry, so thank you. And I often wonder if any time Jim and Pam don't have attention on them, that they just sit in absolute silence, saving all their banter for an audience. :)

From one video game nerd to another - I need to tell you that I think I'm in love with you. I cracked up too hard because I recognised too much of what was happening here, all the way down to partnering with your one enemy to rule the (virtual) world.

I need to find out what this Diablo thing is, damn it.

Author's Response: I admit that I group with now (and in the past) far too many people that I really can't stand now for the good of progression raiding. Once in a while I mis-type and insult someone publicly when it was meant to be private. Hey, I can't help it that the guy really does make me want to punch myself in the face repeatedly.rnrnAnd there is currently a 20 minute preview of Diablo 3 Blizzard's put out that has me so excited I can barely stand it (though the release date is 1-2 years down the road still-we pay dearly for the quality of a Blizzard game). :)
