Oh dear...as soon as he said "it's our baby's first hat" -- IMMEDIATE TEARS. Like I'm not sure where they came from, but you had me so completely wrapped up in this that as soon as he said that I was gone.

Like I said, you are the perfect person to write this. The level of detail and specificity with all the instructions from the doctor completely drew me in and made me think - crap - this is real. I have to think that's exactly what I should have been feeling as Jim was hearing the news.

I also thought in terms of "real" -- the moment Jim had in the bathroom was spectacular.

I enjoyed your first two chapters, but in terms of voice I thought you really hit your stride here.  Brava, lady! I can't wait for the next installment. Please hurry!

Author's Response: Woot! I made you cry? Aw, that makes me happy. I'm glad it felt real to you, and I think you're right - I felt better about this chapter than I did the other two. I hope I can hold onto that for the last chapter. Yikes. Pressure. Thanks for your sweet words.

This is sooooo sooo good! I can't wait for the real birth and this as well! You need to get to writing lady! You are an amazing writer! And everything is soo real! Great, great job!

Author's Response: Thanks Dedeen, I hope I can keep it coming.

Dude, you need to finish this like right now. That chapter was AMAZING. I really felt the anxiety of both Jim and Pam and guh... the thought of Jim delivering this baby is too much for me. I want an update and an epilouge *is greedy*

Author's Response: If the thought of Jim delivering the baby is too much, maybe you'd just best stop reading at this chapter, because the next one will not be for the squeamish. *grin* Seriously, thanks very much for your comments. I'm thinking I can finish this in one more chapter.

Oh my god, this is so scary, yet AMAZING! I absolutely love this story and I can't wait to keep reading! I am finding Jim's panic attacks incredibly realistic (don't worry, in case you were for some reason) and this is just so good! AND SUSPENSEFUL! Keep going and I can't wait for more! I love the little sock/hat part and Dr. Bressman's character is perfect. Can't wait for more!

Author's Response: Wow, thanks pamelamorganhalpert, glad you're enjoying the story. I think this situation woould test even our unflappable Jim. Appreciate the read and the review!

I've learned something reading your stories, jazz: You like to put us through the wringers first! But darn you! This is so addicting (and it helps keep me from turning to the spoiler thread).

Your Jim is just so spot on, the way I imagine Jim would be like if he ever finds himself in this situation. The way he sort of berate himself, as if he should've prepared for every disaster imaginable and how he just wanted to be there for his Pam. *sigh* Love that so much!

I really can't wait for the next chapter!

Author's Response: Yes, bkwrm, you're on to me. I love to torture the people who read my stories, if at all possible. Fun! /Erin Thanks for your kind comments, and for reading my crazy little story.

I am ridiculously excited for the conclusion to this story. I love your Jim and Pam so much, and the pacing you bring to each of your stories works so well. Poor Jim, just wanting a normal experience for her and them, and working so hard to be good to her -- him shoveling the driveway over and over again makes my heart melt. What a guy. I love the sockhat. That is probably the cutest thing ever, actually.

Have to ask -- real life experience, obstetrician, or just plain ol' research on all this stuff?

Author's Response: I'm tickled you're enjoying my little yarn here. I'm writing this from Jim's POV, so obviously I'm feeling sorry for him, but Pam's the one who this really sucks for, right? *snort* Nope, not an obstetrician. Got two kids of my own, and I knew a lot of this information before writing, but really, it's all available on the internet if you look for it.

jazzy, this is great! Poor Jim about to lose it and then getting himself together just because... well, he has to. The conversation with the doc on the phone and Jim trying to keep his reactions calm was amazing. Great job, lady, I don't normally like 'woman gives birth in taxicab' type stories but you've got me hooked!

Author's Response: Dang, I should have called this "Birth in a Taxicab." *grin* Because it really is that cliche. I admit I had fun with the back and forth phone convos - it's so frustrating when you can't hear the other side of a conversation. And yeah, I think poor Jim will always come through for Pam. Thanks for reading and for your comments!

I knew poor Jim would have to end up delivering the baby! I can't wait for next chapter.

Loved this one, by the way. At least Jim's prepared.

Author's Response: Yeah, Jim's going to have to be the to get the job done, I'm afraid. (Of course Pam's the one doing the work...) Thanks for reading and reviewing, Klutzygirl.

The suspense! I would hate to be Pam at this moment, I have zero-tolerence for pain! But at least she has Jim to help her through it. I can't wait for the baby's arrival!

Author's Response: Yeah, epidurals are awesome. I think Pam will have a few things to say about that later in the story, too. Thanks for reading and reviewing, DontCallMeSammy.

I'm really loving this story despite my aversion to drama - this chapter was really great. Realistic and interesting (who knew you could learn so much about childbirth through fan fiction?) I especially loved Jim's mini-meltdown when he went to get the blanket, followed by his primal instinct to be the calm one, and the very end, when he reassures Pam and it's just the two of them. I can't imagine the panic I'd feel if I unexpectedly had to deliver outside of a hospital, but there's something really sweet and intimate about the idea of a home birth, the baby delivered by its daddy.

Looking forward to Baby's appearance! :)

Author's Response: Thanks muchly okayibelieveyou. I have to admit, I love drama. Busted. I'm so glad you're enjoying the story and appreciate the detailed comments! BabyTuna will make his entrance in the next chapter for sure.

OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEXT CHAPTER ALREADY! GOD!!!!!!!

is it weird that i think that jim delivering his own child makes him sexy as hell?

i love this... i'm a big supporter of home birth, and when i have kids, i plan on home birthing. granted, this isn't a planned home birth, but still. if you haven't completed the birth chapter, and you need some medical knowledge, let me know... i'd be glad to help out.

Author's Response: FlonkertonChamp, I'll get going on the next one ASAP. (weather was just too dang nice today) I'm sure home birthing can be a great experience if you have backup at the ready. Unfortunately, that's not the case in this story. I had my two kids in a hospital setting, and I had good experiences, too. Thanks very much for your comments!

I was waiting for this to be complete to read it, but couldn't resist...and now I'm on the edge of my seat. Love Pam yelling at him not to rub - and Jim's DIY baby hat...aw. Looking forward to seeing Dr. Jim OB/GYN in action.

(Also, wanted to mention that we must be having a great minds moment, because I'm also about to post a fic involving Jim shoveling...Totally different scenario, but still - we obviously both have snow on the brain ;-)

Author's Response: Maybe there's just something lovely about watching Jim shovel snow? *snork* I'm glad you liked Crankyinlabor!Pam, because she's not going away for awhile. Now if only we could find a scrub shirt for Jim. Thanks so much for your kind comments, I'm happy I've made you nervous.

Well, you KNOW I love this chapter. Good pacing, good dialogue, realistic interactions between Pam and Jim and each of them with the doctor. I really like how Dr. Bressman "handles" them to keep them calm.

I'm gettin' out my snow blower!

Author's Response: You're gonna need that snow blower. Seriously, thanks so much for your help with this.

Or else... ::crack knuckles::

I can't believe it's taken me 24 hours to find this second chapter! But I'm SO glad I did and you had perfect timing. It's been a loooong week already and today was a long day - this helps.

First things first -- Can I ask how you do this: keep your characters extremely calm while evoking a whole freaking mass of nerves in the reader? lol. Because I was nervous the whole time....and while Jim and Pam started to realize the gravity of the situation as time went on, they were still much cooler than I was!

Coming from So Cali, I can't believe that Jim was out there shoveling for 3 hours and then went BACK out at the end. Wow.

I have a feeling I know where this is going and they're about to start panicking soon when they realize it too. Oh man...this is getting good.

Also - I love that song. ;-)

More soon, please!

Author's Response: Glad I made you smile LoveFool (sorry about the crappy week). Don't worry, Jim and Pam will get a lot more excited here pretty soon. I've never shoveled that much snow either, but I have a friend in DC that got hammered last week with two feet, and I asked her how long it took them to get their driveway cleared, so that's my frame of reference here. Thanks for the encouragement, you're too sweet.

Can't wait for next chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks, Klutzygirl. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what the weather does, eh? On one hand, Jim did buy that 4 wheel drive. On the other hand, it's still snowing...hmmm. We'll see.
