::::sigh:::: Most of the story made me sad because it was just SO not who Jim and Pam are in MY mind but I have to say, the ending more than made up for it and certainly left me smiling and satisfied! GREAT JOB!

He sits down on the couch, and his hand hovers for a moment, almost afraid to touch her. Finally he presses one palm to her cheek and he looks at her in a way that she wants to save, wants to bottle up, wants to keep, so that when everything is said and done, when all the pieces have fallen, she knows that once, she was so loved. Just lovely.

I love season two angst and this is no different.
One typo I noticed, though:
"She found Jim and they ditched the party twenty minutes later, ending up back at his apartment, where his room, thankfully, was spending the night at his girlfriend’s."

love the season 2 angst! And really like the slightly different direction you've taken events (if it were longer, you totally could have added a scene where Jim and Pam run into Meredith and Captain Jack on the boat!)

Uh. This is heartbreaking and awesome. Good gravy. Just gah.I love stories that look at the could have beens from seasons past and determine that Jim and Pam were much better off going the path that they did.
