Blanca, this is glorious.  It scratches an itch right between my shoulder blades that I couldn't reach myself ;)  Still itchy, though, so keep going!  In fact, I was thinking of this story on my way in to work.  It's one of those fics that wormed its way under my skin.  I find myself wondering what would happen next.

So this review isn't totally useless, let me unload some thoughts:

Your description of Jim's new apartment building and how it makes Pam feel is so vivid.  The place didn't seem like Jim at all, but she couldn't really say she knew Jim anymore, so maybe it was exactly like him now. Ah, that hurts.

I adore your drunk, barely censored Jim.  His texting his address and code was brilliant.  The alcohol has given him just enough courage...or is it desperation?

His door was plain and painted the color of vanilla ice cream, or a certain make of cardstock that Jim would certainly know. This line and Pam's memory of their little game is perfection and, again, so vivid.  He'd laughed without opening his mouth, a little snort she recognizes in hindsight as a telltale sign that his feelings were dangerously close to the surface. She wishes she'd been brave enough to see it then, or at least admit she saw it.  Guh.  Fabulous.  I picture the two of them wearing sombreros, laughing over Andy.

Jim's drunken, sleepy state serves him well in allowing him the courage to kiss Pam.  That reunion kiss/makeout session is a thing of beauty in and of itself, rough and passionate, overthinking not getting in the way of feeling.  Jim's musing over whether he was dreaming felt so beautifully in character.  "If this were a dream, that's exactly what you'd say."  Love. That.  And then that little voice of reason gets in the way.  Can't wait to hear what it has to say.

I'll be waiting right here for that next update...

Wow. I was so excited to see you'd updated. I feel like how I felt when I was watching season three for the first time - tortured by anticipation and then crazed with excitement as each installment comes out.

I loved this line:

"Suddenly memory and fantasy coalesced into possibility."

Looking forward to the next chapter.

I was hoping you would go back to how this started. I can't wait for more. Soon, hopefully?

"Not entirely sure I am awake," he said...

"You are," she reassured him.

"If this were a dream, that's exactly what you'd say.

Aww, That sounds like a Jim thing to say :)

Not only is this beautifully written, it's one of the best twists I've ever seen here. It made me say "yes" outloud. Can't wait for the conclusion. Loved the last line, too.

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the rec on the board! I'm humbled by your compliment and thrilled that you liked the twist. There's a few more chapters coming, so stay tuned.

I hope the next update will appear quickly. I'm glad you decided to post something new. I know it's been a long time, but I do hope you also plan on finishing "Smile Like You Mean It." I still think of that, even over a year later.

Author's Response: Wow, you still remember that story? It has been a long time! I don't know if I'll get around to completing it, but knowing that someone out there still thinks of it is quite the incentive. Thanks for reading this too, and don't worry, I won't leave this one hanging.

That's how I always wished that night would have gone!  I can't wait to see how this all plays out.

Author's Response: Well, we don't know everything yet about how the night went, but yeah, I'd have given anything at that point in S3 to see Pam make the trek to Stamford. Stay tuned for more and thanks for reviewing!

His hands. Her hair. Their lips.

Perfect way to describe both the passion and simplicity that is Jim and Pam.

Not usually a super big fan of inner monologue heavy stories but this all the right notes

Author's Response: You know what? I totally agree with you about inner monologue stories. Not my favorite thing. I won't say there won't be any internal thoughts going on in the rest of the story, but there will be plenty of plot movement to go along with it, so stuff actually happens. I'll be very curious to hear what you think. Thanks for the review!

Wow wow wow!!! Now THAT was a distinctly delicious twist! I love Jim's internal monologue as he contemplates having slept with Karen.

The phrasing in this chapter is just perfect. I especially loved these:

The scattered pieces of the puzzle that was the previous evening begin to form a picture that is distinct and decidedly not family friendly.

When he sleeps with someone, he usually means it. Or at the very least he remembers it.

...he feels a little rush of victory when he makes her laugh.

I'll be checking often for updates!

Author's Response: Such kind comments, VB! Thank you! It's so great having some of your favorite lines quoted back to you. :-) Don't worry, you won't have to wait long for the next update. Thanks for the review!

Blanca, I'm giddy.  You surprised me...and in such a good way.  Thrilled that this isn't a one shot, because I really want more.

Author's Response: Yay! Seeing your comment here made me smile. So glad you're liking it so far. Thanks, Nan!

YESSSSSSSSSS!!!!! I seriously thought it would be Karen. I know, I read the story description and it said drunk JIM/PAM not Karen. But still, I wasn't expecting Pam. It would've been just too good to be true. But alas, life has some lovely unexpected surprises. Great chapter and I really love how you quickly ran through the night with those few short lines. I'm looking forward to the next posting, blanca. It's great to have you back!

Author's Response: Hee! I often skip the descriptions and jump right into stories, which sometimes leaves me pleasantly surprised. I'm glad the ending wasn't expected. That's what I was going for anyway. And you'll get to see more of the night before than just those few lines, so there's that to look forward to as well. It's good to be back, and reading comments like this is one of the best parts about it!

Author's Response: Thank you so much. I'm glad you want more, because there is more on the way. And we'll get a chance to see things from Pam's point of view as well.
