I avoided this story because I hadn’t watched AQP buttt this story is just amazing. The sense of Jim protecting Pam from beginning to end. Their slow evolution from survival buddies to lovers. It is epic!

Finally getting around to reviewing this one - you did a good job bringing us into this world and immersing us in it without frontloading it with backstory. The Ryan story gives us a really solid illustration of what the world is like now, and all the little details of what they're doing to keep safe are clever and make it seem that much more real. Jim feels like a genuine person who's life we're just stepping into partway.
I also *really* appreciate Jim recognizing that his sense of why he trusts her is no great mystery. Lol.

First of all. I didn’t watch the trailer. Whoops. I did watch that clip of the kids in the car & John signing “I love you” and then screaming, so I feel like I have the gist of it anyway...
So much of what makes up Pam & Jim’s chemistry is their banter. It’s interesting to see what remains when that’s minimized. There’s still some sort of a spark, that much is obvious. I’m intrigued to find out more of Pam’s backstory too.
Is Howard, Ryan? If so, I am not a fan in this universe...
My heart hurts a little for Larissa, & Jim. I suppose that’s the thing about an apocalypse, there aren’t many silver linings...
Onwards to the next chapter!

Ah goddamn it, I knew I should have waited until it was finished before starting it. Now I'm going to have to wait for the next chapter. At least they admitted it this chapter, if they hadn't I wouldn't be able to rest knowing that.
Anyway, really well done, I've not watched A Quiet Place because I'm a quivering pussy, but this almost convinced me to give it a try seeing as it inspired something so great. Can't wait for the next one.
