The truth finally starts to come out. Yeah I get why Jim would be so mad. Pretty big shock for him to be sure. It was good to see Pam not back down from him. Great change of pace from how one might normally see her. I've got this feeling that there's a line of dominoes that have been set up in the previous chapters and in this one the first one has been tipped. Now granted we probably still have a ways to go and I'm sure there will be more heavy feeling to come. But events are now in motion that cannot be undone. Looking forward to seeing what comes next.

I am so in love with this Pam and Jim! Seeing Jim get feisty when finding out that Pam’s been lying, but her sticking up and having a voice right away, is such a neat change of pace. Oh drunk Jim. I loved the comparisons to Roy—something we don’t often see! Can’t wait to see if he decides to take the job!

This is the best chapter yet in a story I didn’t think could get any better?!? I loved the parallel between Roy and Jim with the drinking and the note. I also liked the insight into why they haven’t set a date yet and how that tied in! I had a feeling for some reason when Pam picked up the phone that it would be Jim but it still made me gasp and then angry Jim was so perfect. I could go on so I’ll just say this was awesome!!

Oh boy. I mean, the chemistry here is undeniable and I’m so wrapped up in their story and rooting for them. I kind of hate the infidelity though. It goes against all my values and I struggle so much with it here. That’s not to say your writing isn’t wonderful and I’m so curious to see how this plays out. It just turns them into slightly less likable versions of themselves I suppose...
Who doesn’t make slightly impulsive choices on New Year’s though. I feel that. The melancholy really works here, both for the time and where the characters are at.
I’m so curious to see where you go from here, and how they get themselves from this affair to something more... I love that Jim kind of dug and is a little closer to knowing her real name.

Very different take on love-lorn Jim here. It's clear he's tried to get over Morgan with Karen but it's no use. At first I was worried when he said he's falling in love with her. At that point they'd only seen each other twice. However if he's thinking about her as much as he is, he's right there's something deeper.
Hit the nail on the head by saying they're both cheaters and liars. Pam still hasn't even told him her real first name. Though she did almost slip there.
I love the connection they do share though. I foresee quite a bit of drama when/if the whole truth comes out for both of them.

I really liked this chapter, despite the sad tone of it.
These are difficult times for everybody and isn't it just lucky that there is writing, and that we can use it for some catharsis?
About the chapter, I am suspecting there was nothing casual in that encounter... and that Pam has been seriously stalking Jim for a while.
Also, I like that he's having a thing with Karen. It's realistic.

“He laughed harshly, supremely confident that she was bluffing. They’d been here before, after all.” God it breaks my heart that Pam has just reconciled herself with this life. It seems she pushes for more, doesn’t get it and then relents and lowers her expectations once again. Ugh.
“Jim was waiting for her” Of course he is!
Their whole interaction in the bar and hotel room is so good and so bad all at once. Their chemistry is wonderful and yet it’s clouded by secrets and infidelity.
I hope Pam comes to her senses about Roy sometime soon - it’s not all that fair on either of them at present...
That said, I’m looking forward to seeing how they cross paths again!

Like you said a bit of a change from how we normally see Jim and Pam. Jim pushing his case a little more firmly. Pam actaully sneaking around on Roy. Now I'll grant you that Roy is being a complete jerk here. The fact he's not coming to the dinner and how he talks to her should be HUGE red flads for Pam.
All that said, you wrote their chemistry brilliantly. It seems there will still be some hurdles to overcome, but hopefully that chemisty of theirs holds stong through everything.
Nice to get some info on why Pam is being so closed off with Jim.

I love that this Jim still has all of the “real man” qualities of our Jim—he doesn’t do one night stands, and he’s dying to know anything he can about Pam.
I could see Pam flying off the handles like this if she never had a “Jim” at work to keep her grounded. He was her safe option and provided her with a little harmless “relationship escape” from Roy. Since she doesn’t have that, this is her extreme.
I love this concept! Can’t wait for more!
