The index cards was my favorite part, particularly the pause written in.

I can't even describe how much I love this.  Everything about it, so poetic and beautiful, are exactly what I needed today.  It's perfect.

I know how you're feeling though.  I have about four different one shots formulating in my head, but none of them ever get finished.  But I'm happy this one was.

*sigh*  So beautifully written.  Love the imagery and the attention to detail -- Jim feeling the map creasing underneath his feet,  Pam's phone slipping between sofa cushions...  And I loved that Jim only charges his phone because he's hoping for a call from Pam... very angsterrific, as always.  Great job!

Love this: And he pulled punches he should have pulled long ago.

And this: Her shirt was back on. Her heels were back on. YES!!

The imagery you use in this is just breathtaking, really lovely.

As if he wouldn’t know his way home without that map.
I feel like quoting about half of this back to you, but I'll content myself with this one line. It's so sad and encompasses so much about his feelings for her- it's truthful, and painful.

I am constantly amazed at your ability to take the raw material of a comedy about a very real (if heightened) everyday workplace, and polish it so that we see the poetry within it. Your prose flows, always, and this structure builds and progresses in a way that suits your plot perfectly. I'm, again, in awe. Thank you for this.

Wow. [/Jim]

Thank you  for this. Lovely imagery. Love the watercolor metaphor, the triangle metaphor, all of it. Nicely done.

A perfect representation of what Jim and Pam's seperation is like... they're both not quite themselves without one another, are they?

I loved this: "She stayed after five every day, but he never called again. "

Wow. SO heartbreaking, adn SO something Pam would do.

These are exactly the sort of fics I like to read and then close my eyes because I can feel and see and imagine everything, crystal clear. I love the imagery, I love the characterisations. Watercolor boats, staplers and pencils - the cue cards were just PerfectPam: hopeful, anxious, nervous; trying to be prepared but not really. And I love the line. I shall never draw my graphs the same way again.

Marvellously connected for something you put together from different attempts at different one-shots. I love how this flows! Gorgeously written.

I liked all of these.  The longing, the failure of Pam to call him sometimes, the desperation they both felt afterwards, the (several) failed attempts with Karen ... the watercolor sailboats.  Lovely.

I particularly loved the part about Pam writing conversation topics on index cards. It denotes such hope, and such a desire for change. It's almost sad that she never got to use them.

Just beautiful.  I loved the idea of Pam making 'cue cards' -  just right for her. And this line was perfect and heartbreaking: There were no goodbyes. Just her palms laid flat on the surface of her desk as she waited for the sound of the door closing. So many good lines though...and lovely imagery and clean, evocative prose. Terrific.
