Oh, how I love the magical world of Harry Potter! Even if this story contains just a teeny bit of it. You have me hooked either just that alone, but your writing and effortless creativity have led me to read this feverishly.

Thank you for this story!

Author's Response:

Thanks for your review....I do hope the actual amount of shared DNA this story has with HP isn't too disappointing as you read this 'Fantastical Beast'.

"I agree with Michael too, there ought to be an ex, as in ex-fianc?." Lol.

You do quite well with writing Michael and Pam, and I really enjoyed seeing both the front-of-stage and behind-the-scenes ways it came together.

"ever since, he began his work day with rolled up sleeves ready to go to war with the machine alongside her when it revolted" - write THIS fic.

"One thing that might have gone unnoticed was how Pam’s grumbling stomach seems to quiet when she’s around Jim." Awwww.

Honestly, I would've forgiven Pam for still not noticing the change. She's got a lot on her mind. So this works for me.

"I did struggle with having Jim believe so easily. We know canonically he is not the type to truly believe in ghosts or other supernatural. But Pam is kissing him and he is just so blown away at what is happening he will accept almost anything." I can accept this explanation.

", I felt it was more appropriate for her to drive a Focus – with her new perfect eyesight and focus on the future." Now THAT's detail work.

All credit goes to Ingrid Michaelson.

Thank YOU for letting us peak behind the curtain on this one! Looking forward to seeing what you come up with next, friend.

Author's Response:

Thank YOU for coming along and being so invested in it. Even in my moments of struggle, this one was a thrill to bring to life and just as thrilling was seeing what you thought after each chapter posted (including these notes).

Thank you for being such a fan and friend.

Really cool to see your thought process, it's very clear you put so much time and effort and love into your work. Congrats on finishing this epic fic, Max!

Author's Response: Yes, yes I did put a lot of TIME into the fic. But I loved doing it even when it was a struggle. I appreciate all your support and reviews and help with continuity issues that plagued me at times.

Thanks again for coming along for the whole journey including the trip into my insane mind to see some of my process.

Hey, if you can solve a writing problem in appropriately symbolic ways, good on you says I.

For the record, I assumed Angela just thought that Kelly and Ryan were hooking up long before they were. That seems in character for her.

"She should have plenty of patience, and to that I say even an angel has her limits." Reasonable point. And Michael would absolutely be capable of trying the patience of an angel.

"Thanks for the line, DJC." D'awww!

"also one I think even young people today still know" Geez, I hope so. I also got curious and went to wikipedia while reading this chapter, and apparently Oh What A Night was originally set in 1933, and was supposed to be about the end of Prohibition. Which. Yikes.

"not all Superfan content is canon (unless it works with my story" I support this contention.

"Gabby seems to have a lot of prior knowledge about Pam and her relationships and about things that hadn't happened yet." BECAUSE SHE'S AN ANGEL. THAT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE.

"So, who caught the little foreshadowing to Jim's high blood pressure issues, tied in with the nod to buying Cup of Noodles for Kevin together?" HA. Fun.

Author's Response:

Thanks for commenting on my commentary.

Yeah, no I goofed -and it was big one. But all fixed now..hope you enjoyed the rewrite.

Love getting a look behind the curtain...

The two Randalls was a fun note... natural implication of the reveal, but it hadn't occurred to me before. And the color stuff was fascinating to see laid out!

Author's Response: I loved the color stuff too - ever since I heard that song (Blue Ain't your Color) the blue/green symbolism has been swirling in my brain. Thanks

NASTY FLAXSEEDS. That was rude! Hahaha

*It wasn’t that it was too soon. He could tell these two were going to go the distance. In fact, he was so confident this moment was on the horizon, he already been working on the toast he would give at their wedding.*

So sweet and so Michael.

*Placing the lottery numbers back in his pocket, he began to chant the inscription from the rings and followed with a series of made-up incantations that he thought might make it work again. But just as every other night he tried, time still continued to move only forward and only one second at a time.*

Love this passage. I almost forgot about those damn lottery numbers. Hopefully Michael will become so distracted by meeting Holly he won’t be tempted to mess with time again.

This story was a delight to read, and a very obvious labor of love. Thank you so much for sharing it with us! 💗

Author's Response:

A little foreshadowing - remember he isn't usually a fan of HR folks...until he meets...

I'm getting ahead of myself...

Thanks for all your wonderful comments throughout this long, long story. It meant a lot that you came along, sharing your thoughts throughout.

Michael did a lot of growing in this journey, I felt he deserved a reward... and yes, hopefully now that he's found his own happy ending, he'll know not to.

Thanks again for all the reviews and encouragement along the way.  It meant the world.

Oh, Michael you loveable half brained foolish nitwit. Trying to go back again like that. Classic Michael.

The image of Jim and Pam in the parking lot at Golden Hour being flirty and cute was just all sorts of adorable.

What I really love is that Michael has outgrown his need for the false friendship of Packer and he sees that guy for who he really is. An overgrown bully. So, the little bonus scene where he drives to corporate to report him and so meets Holly early is just wonderful.

Same with all the other quick bonus scenes. Gabby enjoying her wings. Randall looking up Gabrielle. And of course, Pam and Jim just in love with each other.

Well done with this one. Kind of sorry to see it complete as every chapter was fun to look forward to. You did an amazing job of bringing this all together, weaving multiple timelines through canon event and new paths. There was some heartache and a lot of soul searching, but it all ended in the best place. I really applaud you for doing so great a job. I'm very humbled that a suggestion of mine was able to inspire you to create this masterpiece. Outstanding job!

Fortes Fortuna Adiuvat!

Author's Response:

First, thank you for coming with me on this very long journey. I truly looked forward to getting your thoughts after every chapter. I am sorry I've been lax at responding to the last few...been busy trying to bring this bird in for a landing and get Pam back her wings.

And Michael - yup big growth arc for him both in his relationship to Pam and Packer - he deserved a reward...the meeting Holly thing was a late inspiration... I'm so pleased you liked it so much.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the way it all ended and all it took to get there. And much gratitude for setting off the spark that began it all and for inspiring some of the little bits contained within along the way with your comments.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Holy CRUD. The end of the line! I kinda can't believe it myself.

The Elvis/Ingrid reference in the chapter title!

"He took the after-hours call from her figuring a conversation this late had to be personal in nature." Oh, Michael. Also, him missing Jan telling him not to say yeppers is a nice touch.

The golden hour proposal fakeout was a fun add-on... and the growth in the crack in the parking lot is a good metaphor for Pam's journey here.

Michael feverishly trying to take advantage of the time turner and every other piece of Harry Potter lore he can think of is SO Michael. "“ImpressumoneJanilovelevisnon" feels like it's worth a story all on its own.

And after all that, they didn't stop Packer... and it turned out to help Michael meet Holly! The angels did some WORK on this one. Although I'm hoping they come through to give Randall his happy ending too, dammit.

I always love the club discussion points at the end of books, so I will eagerly await the bonus material. That's why people used to buy DVDs with extras, you know!

Author's Response:

First, thanks for being with me for this whole long, long story. I know I've been lax in responding to the reviews lately -but now that I'm not busy trying to get the rest of this story out...

I'm beyond thrilled you picked up on the juxtapositioning of the lines from the two songs...(we were never meant to be/some things are meant to be) totally what I was going for!

I'm pleased you liked how it all played out at the end - I know it was a lot to read to get here and I appreciate you kept with it to get to the end.

As for Randall, well...one of the messages layered in the story was the need to rely on yourself, see what's inside you...(more to come on here)...so maybe it is symbolic that Randall's angel takes on his own form...or maybe the alternate version of his life is one that only his angel got to/gets to live...or maybe one day he'll leave the office and find a Delorian idling in the parking lot. I'll leave that open for you to imagine (or write.)

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

HAPPY ARCHIVERSARY! (And I think we can all agree that when you do finish the story, we can fudge the date in honor of its time travel content.)

"And once there, who was to know if she would ever leave." Much as I disagree with you about them sleeping together almost immediately, I really like this line - feels very true to Pam's mindset post-breakup. And Jim being supportive of it is delightful.... and him immediately wanting her to sign the lease near him, in such sharp contrast with his attitude towards Karen! Fun.

"After the magical night it happened, a mere three days after her time travel ended, she became a frequent guest at her new boyfriend's house." Get it girl.

The documentary crew suspension probably should've happened at some point in canon... and maybe explains the strike-produced gap in Season 4, somehow?

OH NO. GABBY disappearing is a twist I did NOT see coming. I mean, it couldn't be Pam's fault, she couldn't have retroactively changed the past farther than she went back, but ooooof. That's a body blow. And like Pam my curiosity as to how the mechanics of this all worked are renewed.

Oh, this all worked out so well for everyone EXCEPT Randall, poor guy. And I'm glad to see Gil isn't a complete douche here and does appreciate her art when she takes some risks. (Also, write the "Gil sees Pam's post-Jim art and likes it" fic.)

"She came back to a future where she could be her truest self and also be in love with Jim. And that made all the difference." And THAT is a good wrap-up on a Pam journey if there ever was one.

THE WARRIOR REFERENCE. Amazing. And I love the image of them joyfully sharing all these stories they've been waiting to share.

WHAT.

Okay, gonna be thinking about this one for while. Time travel logic makes my head spin.

*It was on the way back to his place after work one night, when they saw the for-rent sign. Two blocks from his place, she was somewhat apprehensive to suggest checking it, it being so close to him and their relationship so new, but before she even had time to debate it internally, he was pulling out his phone to call for an appointment when they could see it.*

Love the not-so-subtle shade at Jim's nonexistent future relationship with Karen ha!

*She had found herself upon arrival, and discovered that she could still hold on to who she was and also be in love because with Jim, the two weren't mutually exclusive. He loved her for all that she was and all he wanted her to be, but more importantly what she wanted to be.*

There it is. That's it.

What a journey, friend! Satisfying ending and I'm hoping the last chapter will have some Michael (please?)

Quick thing to start out with. The paramedic saying she needs to take out her contacts. Gotcha. Thank you.

So, more changes than appears now that we're well and truly on the other side of this whole adventure. Not only the physical things like her hair and eyesight, but the more important things about herself. I love the new confidence that Pam has. That even though she wants and does spend as much as her time with Jim as she can, she also wants to stand on her own two feet. Beautiful. Even more so that Jim is right there with her, not saying anything like "just move in with me, you'll save money for all these things you want to do." I get the feeling she's heard that line before and yeah, pass. Not that Jim would use that line on her because clearly, he gets why she wants to be her own person while also being with him. Very mature on both their parts.

So somehow in all this shuffle, Gabby and Randall aren't together. It does kind of make me sad to hear that. Randall and Gabby seemed to have such a great relationship it stings a little to see that it's not there anymore. Though Randall's reaction there at the end gives maybe a little sliver of hope.

Loved the fact idea that Pam can share everything with Jim. Even the stuff she had buried away for years. The shoe has a set of silver wings!! Aww, thank you. I'm so glad and thankful a conversation you and I had once proved the inspiration for this wonderful piece. Gorgeous little line there and I'm very grateful for it.

One more chapter to go and we'll finally be done with this masterpiece. Looking forward to it for sure.

I was wondering how Future Pam and Past Pam (and Michael's) would eventually come back together. Having one set of doppelgangers disappear during the chaos of Roy's attack and Dwight's pepper spray seemed to do the trick nicely. I was starting to get worried since it kind of seemed like Future Pam's plan was becoming undone due to all the interference from other parties like Kelly and Roy. In the book Harry and Hermione go through the events, then go back in time, and then catch up to when they went back in time without anyone really knowing. It didn't seem quite so neat here, which is fine by the way. So that worked well.

Maybe a little short sighted of Future Pam to think Roy would just go slinking off like a dog with his tail between his legs. She got access to Past Pam's memories and thus had at least access to the insight of Roy's road rage and his reaction after they got back from the trip. Also, it kind of felt like she's ready to go meet her new future at warp speed, especially with Jim at her side, that she may have forgotten about Roy's temper. You spent ten-ish years with the guy Pam, you had to have some clue that he'd go flying off the handle. Also case in point Roy getting aggressive at Jim during the Alliance. Thing of it is that, like I said she's ready to go with an extra two weeks of soul searching under her belt about how she wants to live. Not so with Roy. He's the same stuck in his high school wanting things to stay the same kind of guy he always is. So from a story perspective that works well.

Jim telling her he would have been able to handle himself is something I can 100% get behind. Flush with the adrenaline of victory in getting together with Pam and his natural protective instincts, yeah, I don't think Jim would have had a problem. He was able to basically go toe-to-toe with Roy physically in the basketball game so there is precedent. Fortunately, thanks to Dwight's pepper spray such actions were not needed.

What was needed was the paramedics showing up. Do I detect a slight call out to "This Thing Called Life" and the crew of Medic 4? If so, thank you. Made me grin.

And to top it all off, even Team Roy for Life Angela Martin approves of the change in Pam's relationship status. Well done Pam in getting everything figured out. Great chapter. And now I get to go right on to the next one! Hooray!

In all universes, Dwight saves the day, and a darn good thing. Good way to remix the pepper spray incident. And I love that Jim's reaction is basically "would've been worth it tbh." And having this chaos allow for the timelines to merge without anyone noticing the Two Pams and Michaels is a really nice and very natural way to resolve that conundrum.

" That ever since then she'd felt like a ghost had escaped from within her and was hovering about, willing her to look deep inside her soul. That same spirit seemed to have its own set of eyes and would come back to whisper to her all that the phantom vision could see from the different vantage point outside her body." HMMMMMMM.

Ok, big chapter here for sure. Loved getting into Pam's thoughts with the kiss. How time seemed to stop and all was right with the world. Also that she not only trusted Jim with what's happened with her, but that he was so ready to believe her. Now granted he's probably in a daze with the fact that a seemingly ordinary comment elicited that reaction from her, so he's to some degree ready to go along with anything she says. But it's also Jim, who just about always has Pam's back when it comes to things. So no real surprise he's right there with her. Loved that. Though with Kelly having seen what happened, I'm sure that won't bode well. Some things you can control and others you can't. One thing no one has been able to control is Kelly not sharing the latest gossip.

Roy's section was also quite interesting. Clearly he's feeling the hurt of losing Pam. No real big, break the mirror kind of reaction here though. Being at work might have something to do with that. However he is actually using his head for once. Trying to calm down before he does something rash.

Kind of a fun moment with Past Pam in the car. Her making the connection to Michael stalling and Jim trying to drag out driving lessons shows Past Pam is growing past the live in denial person she has been. With Past Pam though it still feels like the revelations are more subtle. She's not really actively thinking about them, but the puzzle pieces are falling into place and she's getting a much clearer picture of everything that's going on in her life. Then with the second Past Pam section the really important piece clicks in and she at last realizes who she's actually in love with. Nice way to bring that about.

And now Future Pam is REALLY going for what she wants. The hell with anyone else. She's going to reach out for her happiness for herself for as long as she can. Well done Pam on getting to that point. Though of course it can't happen without a major twist. Roy seeing them kiss with his current emotional state? Hoo boy! Feels like there's some fireworks coming. Great job.

THE BELL! That was so perfect!

*This transformation she could sense happening was not because of time travel or any other magic.

Except maybe it was and that magic was Jim. That magic was love.*

And this, ladies and gents, is the thesis statement of this fic.

*“Some things you just don’t question, Pam. Whatever magic or supernatural phenomenon it was to bring you to me, I’ll believe. You say you time traveled; I one-hundred percent buy it if it means you want to be with me.”

“Do you really believe me, Jim?” Her voice was pleading, her eyes solemn but hopeful.

“Absolutely, I do. Not only do I believe you but I think I must have been a time traveler too because, Pam, I’m in love with you and I have been forever, I think before I even met you.”*

Dawww! My heart!

*The more he talked the more her concern grew that he was having a mental breakdown or he was high on something the new delivery guy convinced him would be fun to smoke or take.*

Love this reference!

*“Did you not hear what Kelly said, Pam and Jim kissed?!?”

“The only kissing I care about is kissing this day goodbye and starting my weekend, now get out of my way Michael!”

Things got a little heated after that.

“No, you have to stay and be witness to the family drama.”

“I do not and I will not!”*

This is perfect Stanley dialogue.

Love the climactic feel of this chapter, leading up towards the end. Everyone knows now (even Roy!!!) so OMG WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. Also aren't there now two Michaels in the office? I am scared.

The references to time shifting and stopping and starting during the kiss are a nice touch, and the apparition detail is neat. The magic is love is very Harry Potter appropriate!

"Anyone could walk in at any moment, including another Pam, as she herself was highly aware of." Jim says write that fic.

"You say you time traveled; I one-hundred percent buy it if it means you want to be with me.” HEART EYES.

"He still didn’t understand the fascination with the art thing, but maybe he should have pretended to be more interested and supportive." Oh, Roy. As usual, I think you did well in locating Roy as more immature and selfish than malevolent.

Again, we see Michael's advantage as time travel partner - too bizarre normally for his bizarre behavior to tip people off. Although he gives us his best shot here.

DAMMIT KELLY. I said "oh no" multiple times reading this.

The Boy Scout story is so Michael.

While as you know I was on board with "Stanley knows and just doesn't care," I do like "Stanley is too mad at Michael wasting his time to notice there are two of them."

"“As your boss, I insist we go up the back way. And as your friend, I’ll grant you two more vacation days if you do.” The good old Michael two step!

"And just like he did back on the boat when he noticed Halpert getting a little too close to her, he would have to make it in front of all of her co-workers." You're a douche, Roy.

So Past Pam is off to get Future Michael. Past Michael is jazzed up about the site for the cafe-disco. Future Pam now has the Time Turner that sent them all on this crazy adventure. Randall has sent his team off on a bit of a wild goose chase to ensure that everyone who needs to stays apart. And Jim is probably getting the shock of his life right now. I hope I didn't miss anything there.

Getting closer and closer to seeing how it all plays out. One thing that does strike me is just before Jim comes back Future Pam is quite sure she needs just a little more time. Yet when she seems Jim again, and he tells her once more the yogurt is expired and that he notices the outfit change, it feels like the right time has finally come at last. Feels kind of circular in that way, which I'm not complaining about in the slightest.

As always can't wait for more.
