This is very funny. I could picture Pam nosing around his room very well, and her giggling as she finds incriminating information. Nice insertion of some background details, like Christmas routines and birthdays. Yes, Jim comes across as enormously thoughtful when it comes to presents. Also, it is difficult to pull off the present tense consistently in a story, but you have managed this well. I am a grammar geek, and I cannot do it, LOL. Nice story!

Author's Response: Approximately 83% of my fic-writing time is focused on catching the grammatical mistakes that would otherwise drive me crazy, so I appreciate you noticing. Thanks for taking the time to read and review, and also reminding me that I actually need to, you know, finish the other three chapters of this at some point...

Like Basscop69, I'm also just getting round to Christmas fic, (and our tree is also still up because it's cold and dark and wet and miserable out...)
Excited to see where you take this. Really like the idea of Pam re-visiting Jim's room, and finding the note. Loving her excitement!

Author's Response: Well, why take the tree down when it still reminds you of good times in the depths of winter?

Glad you enjoyed it friend! Thanks for taking the time to read and review.

I’m slightly belatedly catching up with the Christmas fics (it’s basically still Christmas if I’ve failed to take my tree down, right?) - but I’m very excited about this. Especially the tracking all the way from Jim’s BBQ, this had never occurred to me. I love the idea of Pam finding out about Jim being her secret Santa, and the way you’ve written her giddiness is very, very cute. And Jim/Kevin dueting to Bon Jovi! I need this in my life. (Also: I was trying to work out if timing-wise Kelly’s solo would’ve been stolen from Mean Girls, or if she would’ve come up with it all by herself…and I’m not sure which one I love more). I also just loved all the little notes of Pam noticing and appreciating (/falling more in love with) everything Jim does: it fits so well with how they were with each other in that episode, and her face when she was watching him do the karaoke. And LOL at the Creed. I could totally see Jim owning this CD, buried under all his cooler albums. Can’t wait for more!!

Author's Response: As far as I'm concerned, it's Christmas until we start nominating things for the Dundies, so you've got some time.

I give full credit to whoever wrote the ingredients for that one, but it does fit well with my general sense of plausible Office AUs/plausible Office AUs that haven't been written 30 million times, which usually build off of small changes in the moment leading to big changes over time. And the giddy version of in-denial Pam is a lot of fun to write! She just so badly NEEDS this.

Hmmm. It seems plausible Kelly's solo was stolen from Mean Girls timing-wise, although it wasn't what I was thinking... so let's say that's actually Kelly's long-standing Christmas karaoke song, and she's claimed for years that Mean Girls stole it from HER.

That Pam face! She is the heart-eyes emoji personified. (Email Surveillance is one of my all-time favorites.)

Look, we've all dabbled in the dark arts from time to time... even Jim.

Hoping to have some more for you soon!

This felt like a cute little belated Christmas gift, especially with the embedded links! Adorable. I love how it fits perfectly within canon. I also had that Creed cd and that made me shake my head at my own foolishness. In my defense, they were EXTREMELY popular and all the cute boys liked them!

Author's Response: Awww, thank you! Hopefully soon a much more belated Christmas gift and a New Year's gift will join it. (I'm gonna finish this dammit.)

See, that just makes me think you and Jim must be cool and Pam is wrong. Gonna have to rewrite the whole thing now.

Well, this has certainly whet the appetite! Looking forward to more of this!

Author's Response: You'll get it!

Eventually.

Okay, I'll have you know I watched the Christmas Party superfan episode this morning and when I saw the name plate from Stanley, I thought, "I swear I heard somewhere that he got one of those for someone else." Totally thought it was from like OL or something. Haha

Turns out it was this that I read too quickly and never reviewed! So I came back and read it again and I'm reviewing to say I am so ready for more! And that your writing is so spot on that I mistook the snippet about the name plate as some deleted scene or something, which is a definite compliment.

Author's Response: *Napoleon Dynamite fistpump emoji*

This also gave me a fun idea for a tag to this "episode," which I may or may not write. And thank you friend.

This brings my canon-loving heart joy.

I love Pam’s idea to prank Jim (can’t wait to see where you take this) and downgrading Stanley’s thoughtful gift was brilliant. And it’s a cool way to make it clear how Pam knew Jim had her for SS because I always suspected she somehow knew.

Author's Response: Seriously, we don't talk about this enough, but Stanley's gift to Kelly is a clear contender for second-best in that Secret Santa draw. Wildly out of his character even then. There HAS to be another explanation.

Ooooh there are so many things I want to say that will spoil the next chapter. Stay tuned.

I love where this has the potential of going and the Creed cd is just perfect. Can’t wait to read more.

Author's Response: Well, let's hope you like where it actually goes, too... stay tuned!

Happy 2022!

You sneaked this in just under the wire but glad I got to read this as my first of the new year.

And here I thought you weren't about the music  and here you go with not only 5+ musical references but the video links too. (and a little shameless plug link).

It's the purposefully misinterpreted, music-themed (but surely not meant this way) ingredient that has me most intrigued and quite clever too.

The vision of the very excited Pam after discovering who her SS is (and may I say another clever wink since this fic is in essence a SS gift) was so clear in my head.

Excited to see where this goes, especially since I caught the mention of the butterfly effect in the summary - you know that kind of stuff makes me giddy.

Author's Response: Happy new year friend!

Well, I'm not going to lie, I was sort of under orders here. (There actually are a *lot* of musical references in my fics though? It's strange.) And wanted to keep it accessible for those who are not of my precise demographic. I fear the next generation is unaware of the brilliance of Wham!

See, that started as a joke, but it really did lead to the entire rest of the fic! Sometimes I even amaze myself.

I'm glad! I loved writing excited Pam.

Hope you like where we go with this... hoping to get this updated by the end of the week.

Love the idea already. We'll done on getting it posted before midnight too. Pam heading back up to find more about Jim was all sorts of cute. I also liked the backstop you're giving them here.

Looking forward to the rest.

Author's Response: Thank you! It was a near-run thing, let me tell you, and I'm not wild about this whole "posting a continuing narrative while it's still being written" thing, but I guess we are where we are.

Oh, Pam *definitely* wanted more time to explore that bedroom, she just needed the right excuse.

Stay tuned! I have a clear idea of where this is going, I just need to come up with the words and put them in some sort of order.
