So, more Karen as a sounding board here, which of course is great. Early season Pam needed that a lot more than what she got. Yes she eventually found her courage on her own and more power to her for it. Though I wonder if she would have been able to find it sooner had she really had someone in her corner like this. So this a great way to see how that would play out.

Nice that Karen and Danny are getting on too. Though part of me worries that he's "fascinated by the inner workings of Dunder-Mifflin" for some other reason than simply being companionable with Karen. He's not a good salesman for nothing.

Regardless it's also fun to have a different perspective on the day of the jinx. Pam realizing it was very flirty and now that she's single there's nothing to say "we were just friends goofing around" like she probably told herself in canon. Nice job in bringing that out.

Author's Response: Thanks! Yes, I think Pam would have benefited a lot from having someone in her corner outside of Jim, even in the later seasons.

“Oh wow, I didn’t even think about that. I can’t imagine Michael on drugs.” Write THAT fic.

"I keep thinking we’ve reached the bottom of the insanity that is the Scranton branch of Dunder Mifflin, and I keep being wrong." There is no bottom, Karen. Save yourself.

Drug Testing, up until the end, is a very cute Jam episode. Very interesting to think about how this would have played out with a single Jim/Pam. Still a loaded moment but a different tenor of loaded.

And I like that Pam is a resource for Karen here in this chapter!

Author's Response: Thanks :). Unfortunately, I don't think I have enough of a handle on Michael's voice to write a story about him. And I'm glad you picked on Pam being a resource for Karen, I'm enjoying writing the Pam-Karen friendship as a two-way street.
