I'm loving this story so far. In this chapter, I especially loved the last few paragraphs.
And it's so weird that you mentioned Jim reading "The Great Gatsby", because I'm writing a fic, and not even a half hour ago while writing it, I decided that one of the books Jim likes to read is "The Great Gatsby". Hee. So don't think I stole that from you when I publish my story. ;o)

Okay, I have a feeling that this is going to be rambly, so just sit tight and hang in there.
This is, hands down, one of the best fanfics I have ever read. In that general category. One of the best fanfics. You have managed to capture everything beyond character to something supremely and utterly them. You have managed to take what is the core of this couple and what exactly is the inner voice of Jim to create this amazing, amazing story. And I really wish I could express more coherently how incredible this is, but I can't.
Every word is perfectly right. It hurts in the right places and it's funny in others. When Jim asked her what would have happened if he had picked the pencil and Pam starts parroting what she said earlier was absolutely so so so in character. You just nailed it. Wow. Seriously, wow.
And that card? So many people have taken stabs at writing what was in that card, and I think yours is the best I've read. I mean best in the way that it's most realistic, it's most Jim. And this whole story just feels so real to me. And then parts of your prose is just absolutely exquisite. I love that you took away quotation marks for parts of their dialogue. This story just spoke so much for what I want their relationship to be.
Alright, I'm wrapping it up. But this was simply breathtaking. Thank you so much.
Author's Response: Wow. That is - wow. I've never received feedback so...affirming. It's truly incredible, and you've completely made my day. I think your comment made me really want to write a sixth part - for some reason or other it's definitely the first time in a while I've given any thought to continuing this story. It's really amazing to find that a lot of details I tried to include in my fic were actually, I don't know...understood? In the way I had hoped they would be understood, I mean. Thank you so much for that.
