Michael smiled.

He’d never really liked it when Jan made sandwiches, mainly because the knife in her hand made him uncomfortable. She always got upset when the Italian bread crumpled before finally giving way to a slice.

But she was trying.

And he was safe in the other room.

And it was okay for now.
