Sleep-deprived, he muttered, "I want more than that."

"Wanted," she despaired. "I see the way you look at each other."

"Don't you see the way I look at you?" He turned away, stripped bare.

"Jim, wait." Gathering courage, she whispered, "I love you."

He paused.
