The coals burn, the jagged edges hurt her feet. She doesn’t feel pain, she feels alive; more alive than she thinks is possible. Adrenaline is rushing through her body. In those few seconds, she changed. She is no longer Pam; she’s Fancy New Beesly. And Fancy New Beesly says what she wants.

She wants Jim.
