Ancient rhythm
Jim crept out of bed, concerned about his wife’s prolonged absence. He followed the sounds of gentle murmuring through the dark to the nursery.
Pam stood there, holding their baby. Smiling, eyes closed, she sang softly, moving her body in the ancient rhythm of maternal comfort.
“Swaying isn’t dancing,” she once told him. She’d lied.
