Author's Chapter Notes:

So two things really quickly:

1) I KNOW, i started another story before finishing the one I already started but this is shorter than that one and also almost done ;)

2) I am still working on my other fic and have about 7,000 words written for the next chapter lol.

As always, enjoy & let me know what you thought!!

She heard a loud slam, and her eyes lifted from the game she was playing on her computer to see Jim with his head down on his desk. She giggled and tossed a jellybean at him.

He looked up, now smiling, and walked over to her desk. "Alright, what's on the 'Revive Jim' agenda today, Beesly?"

"I wish I'd come prepared," she said, glancing around her desk. "Wait, I got it." She grabbed two magnets that were holding up notes and handed them to him. "These are super strong—that’s why I bought them. Put one behind Dwight’s keyboard and then slowly bring yours closer until they..." She demonstrated as the magnets snapped together.

"Genius. Truly, Beesly, I wouldn't be able to do this without you." He smiled, grabbing some jellybeans. "So, any big plans for the weekend?"

"Oh, you know, the usual. Hit up Poor Richard’s, then the rave downtown, and maybe swing by Chili’s for a second drink," she replied with mock seriousness.

"Classic Beesly. How old are you again?" he teased.

"Didn't your mom ever teach you never to ask a woman her age? I’ll have you know my midlife crisis is going swimmingly." She huffed playfully.

"Who says 'swimmingly'?" He chuckled, popping another jellybean into his mouth. "That alone shows your age, Miss Beesly."

"Whatever. Enough about my midlife crisis. What’s the 'Halpert Mania' you're getting into this weekend?" she asked, rolling her eyes.

"Not too much," he said. "No raves, but my friend throws a huge party every year the Friday during the week of Valentine’s Day. I might go to that. Probably some basketball too." He shrugged.

"That sounds fun. I’m probably just going to be painting and reading this weekend. Roy’s going out with his brother and their friends to some casino in Maryland," she sighed.

"Well, not that painting and reading aren’t awesome, but you should totally come to the party. It’s really fun—a good mix of guys and girls." He smiled at the thought of spending time with her outside of work.

"I don’t know..." she hesitated.

"Did I mention they always have the best nachos ever? It’s become a yearly tradition where everyone brings something to create a giant nacho dish. And the games are absolutely insane, we played Pictionary last year. We’d crush everyone with your artistic skills." He nudged her encouragingly.

She laughed. "I’ll think about it, but that does sound really fun. Okay, now quit stalling and get to work with those." She pointed at the magnets still in his hand.

Later in the day, as he worked on sales reports, Roy approached Pam’s desk. Jim pretended to focus but subtly scooted his chair closer to eavesdrop.

"Babe, are you still mad at me?" Roy leaned against her desk.

"Yes. You didn’t even take me out on Valentine’s Day, and I was hoping we could go somewhere nice tomorrow night after work." Her voice was hushed.

"C’mon, babe, we can do that anytime. But it’s Jeremy’s birthday this weekend, and he wants to go to their beach house in Maryland with us and the guys." He dismissed her concern. "We can grab lunch right now, or I’ll take you out somewhere tonight."

"Okay, where were you thinking?" she asked.

"I don’t know. The warehouse crew is going to Poor Richard’s for half-off wing night. We can do that." He said it excitedly, as if it was a great idea.

"Are you serious?" she whispered in frustration. "I meant somewhere nice where we can dress up."

"Oh, c’mon, that’s so girly, Pammy. Can we just grab a meal together now then?" Roy was growing frustrated.

"Forget it." She sighed and got up, walking toward the breakroom.

Jim had spent that entire time focused on the phrase ‘Four-pound letter-stock, 10% off,’ over and over again to avoid reacting. He fought the urge to immediately follow her before Roy looked over in his direction.

“Man, sometimes they make no sense huh?” He said to Jim nodding his head and chuckling

Jim responded by widening his eyes and nodding indifference.

Once Roy walked out of the office, Jim gave himself 3 minutes and 36 seconds before he couldn’t take it anymore and walked into the breakroom.

She sat at a table, nursing a cup of tea, staring at it absentmindedly as Jim walked past to the vending machine.

He inserted a dollar. "Want anything, Beesly?"

She looked up, shaken from her thoughts. "Huh? Oh, no, it’s okay."

"C’mon, we both know peanut M&M’s do wonders for your happiness." He grabbed two packets and sat next to her, handing her one.

"Thanks." She smiled at him.

"Sometimes I really don’t understand him," she admitted absentmindedly.

Jim chuckled at the irony. "What?"

"Nothing. He just said the same thing about me before leaving." She sighed, staring at her tea.

A moment of silence passed before Jim spoke again. "Hey, you should really come to the party tomorrow night. I think it’d 100% cheer you up.” He said before opening his bag. “And I haven’t even used the magnets yet, but they’re set up." He saluted her with a grin, munching on his M&M’s.

She smiled. "Yeah, I think I’ll go. It’ll be fun to get out."

"There’s the Beesly we all know and love."

"Hey, do you think if we replaced all of Kevin’s M&M’s with different flavors, he’d notice?" she asked mischievously.

Jim laughed, and their banter carried on through lunch. But deep down, he was just happy—happy for another chance to spend time with her outside of work, especially alone.
