I'm floored that this is something you would consider discarding.

She looks like the rest of his life.

Just lovely....and how prophetic, given the season finale.

The rest of it is just beautiful.

Author's Response: Thanks so much, Sweetpea...this is probably the only fic I wrote before Jan. \'07 that I can read now and not cringe! (I guess back then I felt like it divurged too much from what \'actually\' happened, so thought it might seem irrelevent...nowadays I just say the hell with that, LOL.) Anyway - glad you found it and \'prophetic\' - hee! Who knew?

That little bit of angst in the middle is perfect!  Poor Pam!  She's got a lot going on and it wouldn't be real if she didn't lose it a little.  I love how you've written Michael in this story, too.

"Anyway," Michael said finally. "I'm just finishing up my bacon...wondering if there's anything I can do for you guys since I'm up? Need me to pick Jill up? Take her to school?"

Brava!

I've passed over this title until today, thinking it would be sappy and gooey.  I read the first chapter and thought, wow, this is really good.  I read the next and realized it was great.  Then, I clicked on the down arrow and squealed like a little girl because I had 13 more chapters to read!

Unbelievably good.  I laughed, I cried, I think I even snorted once.  Then, I skimmed through the whole thing again.

The Office (and the fans!) would be lucky to add you to their team of writers.  Your writing feels effortless.  Jim's voice - inner and outer - is perfect.  The dialog, the banter, I can hear the actors voices read your words.

Thank you!

Jim swears that when she asks where babies come from, he's going to tell her that we found her in the woods.

I had absolutely no doubt this is how your baby Jill was going to turn into toddler Jill.  A little wood nymph and a sprite with no fear.  Really sweet moment for our little family in Baby Talk-ville, even though it's a little bittersweet for Pam.  Nice.

Like a break in the clouds and the sun shining through!  I could see every moment of this chapter, LoveFool!  LOVE Pam falling over on the couch and Toby wishing Jim dead - so funny.  And I love the continuation of Jim giving Pam the business in front of Jill - hilarious and perfect Jim.  The image of baby Jill in her pink dress and slightly off-kilter tiara - ahhhh.  Such sweetness!  One whole year?  Is it possible?  Why, it seems like only yesterday she was Bobblehead Jill!

Oh, JIM!  So besotted with The Bean that he can't see straight!  I loved that she knows what Jim 1 is thinking and oh, yeah, she's got that Jim wrapped.  How long is she going to be "cut off" (hilarious) from her Cheerios?  Two minutes?  YAY for you and something new!

I don't know how I missed this, colette.  When I first started lurking here (and too lurky to review), I thought I'd read everything you wrote, but I would remember this.  This is maybe the best example of what you do so well:  capturing a feeling, a moment that most everyone can relate to that is also a moment that is so true for Jim and Pam in just a few precise and evocative words.  This is beautiful.

Author's Response: What a generous thing to say! I'd really forgotten this one - but, after re-reading it (even though it's way off-canon now) it actually got me thinking about something new I'd like to write - go figure. Anyway, so glad you de-lurked, Sweetpea - and started writing too! Really appreciate your comments - 'precise and evocative' is high praise to me (lately, I find writing mostly about what I edit out, lol.) Thanks so much!

I don't know how this one escaped me until now.  Pitch perfect, all the way through.  Loved the pink panties, Pam trying to hide her screen from her mom and Jim teasing her about it.  So great.

So good!  You write such real dialogue, but this paragraph hit me so close to home.  I can remember a few mornings like this in the beginning of new relationships.

The next morning, she’d woken up first, and alternated between dozing and watching Jim sleep. When he’d finally opened his eyes, he’d smiled hazily and reached for her. They’d made love slowly and simply, as they had many mornings. Barely awake, Jim holding her close against him, achingly deep deep inside her, moving just enough. Just right. Afterwards, they’d fallen back to sleep still wrapped around each other and when they’d awoken again it had been almost noon. And perfect. And, Christ, she loved him.

Author's Response: Aw, thanks, Sweetpea...yeah, mornings like that are a lovely thing (and just imagine adding Jim to the mix.) So glad you found this - and that you think the dialogue is believable too - always something I worry about. Thanks again!

I do this thing where I don't want a story to end and I don't want my eyes to wander too far ahead and give anything away - I just scroll the screen up a few lines at a time and keep everything hidden until I'm actually reading it.  Doing that now.  Have I mentioned how good this is?

I knew Karen was going to find out about the letters, I just didn't know how you were going to do it.  This was perfect...having her find Marsha's letter.  Hey, I'm curled up with a nice comfy throw and a glass of wine and I'm here for the rest.  Thank you for such a good read - it really is great to read this all at once.

What is wrong with me that I'm just NOW reading this?  Good heavens, this is wonderful writing and storytelling and I'm loving this so far.  The site went down in the middle of my reading of this chapter and I screamed "NO!"  But here we are again and my pulse has returned to normal.  So good!

Author's Response: Okay, I'm definitely going to respond to all of these eventually, but can I just say how much fun it's been to get new reviews for these early chapters. In fact, ever since I got your first review I've been rereading the story along with you. Is that dorky or what? But I hadn't actually read this early stuff in awhile, so it was really fun for me to go back to that. Anyway, thanks for all your kind comments. I'm always happy to provide some Saturday night entertainment! :)

She drifted off to sleep imagining herself as Pam. Young and pretty, with enough time left in her life to fix her mistakes.

Good Lord, that kicked me dead square in the grief bone.  Great chapter, loved Jim's inner thoughts as he read Pam's letter - spot-on Halpert.

I am clapping my hands right now like a fat kid with a Happy Meal!  So wonderful to think that all that time hasn't dulled their humor, affection, and tenderness for one another.  Man, that's a love story.  I've enjoyed this whole story, but I think this is my favorite.

Author's Response: Thank you! Once these two get their acts together (which will be this season, right? Please?), I think they are definitely in for the realistic version of "happily ever after"- lots of curveballs and tears, but even more love and laughter. I'm so glad you're still enjoying these later chapters...I am, too! Thank you, thank you!
