THIS CHAPTER WAS BEYOND STELLAR.  Seriously, you need to do this for a living, if you don't already, because you're that good.  I laughed out loud, and got freaking horny at the same time.  I will die if there's not an update tonight.  No pressure though.......

sucking in a huge lungful of air and telling himself this has nothing to do with the fact that he’s never said this to anybody but his mother and now he’s going to say it to Pam and he’s terrified that he’s going to mean it.

This is the line that broke my heart.  You really do have the gift.  As I and others have said before, really, you should be doing this for a living.  It's just too good to wait.  It is my modest hope that you update tonight.  I'll be up for awhile ;-)

I loved this, love the contrast.

There is no feeling trapped, there is freedom, yet the desire to stay is greater than that.

Loved that line.  The pictures have been deleted though?  Bummer.

Great story.  I really think that Jim and Pam would have kept things more under wraps around Karen.  Neither of them seem the type to be disrespectful of how she might be feeling, no matter how happy they are together.  After that, the story came together nicely for me.

I'm a terrible person.  I've read this far without leaving a review.  I was at work so that's my excuse!  Wow, what a great twist, Roy asking Jim to talk to her.  Did NOT expect that!  Great twist Wendolf.  And again, it just showcases just how freaking clueless Roy is.  I can totally buy the puking too.

Jim nodded and slipped out of the pew to follow her to the sacristy. He felt all eyes boring into his back as he approached the room where Pam was hiding. When they got to the door, Pam’s mom handed him a life saver from her purse.

“Can you give this to Pam? She . . . might want it.”

Jim almost laughed at the absurdity of what was happening. “Sure.”

What great attention to detail, and it shows just how much Pam's mom cares.

I think it worked beautifully, not having them interact a lot.  The interaction they did have was simple, but pregnant with what's to come.  Can't wait for the next update!

He smiled and kissed her forehead, her cheekbone and when she closed her eyes to enjoy the sensation, he kissed her eyelid.

It did,” his mouth was on her ear now, his lips brushing her lobe. “This is by far the best part of my vacation.”

“God, Pam—“ he said quietly, but then she started to move, cutting him off mid-thought.

These are a few of my favorite things.  You just keep on amazing me.  I'm pretty much out of words, but I'm so glad you aren't.

Author's Response: Thanks, my friend! You are the best!

Reviewer: Annika Signed 10
Date: April 01, 2008 Title: Chapter 11: Housewarming

I am loving this little twist!  I never, ever expected that.  And really, how brave of him to do it.  I would think it would be about the last thing he wanted to do......which it is of course, which is where the bravery comes in.  I feel so sad for her and her empty apartment.  You've really managed to make the reader (this one at least!), feel just how alone and disoriented she must be.  Talk about a 180 degree change.....wow.  (I've been there, so I can totally relate.)

I loved, just loved how he came into the apartment, grabbed her and kissed her.  Let's just give her something to think about.....;-)

In fact, he was biting his bottom lip in a way that made her breath catch.

That reminds me of a certain video on YouTube, and I know you know which one I'm referring to. ;-)

“Because you need to figure out what this,” he paused for a moment and let it sink in that he was referring to the earth-shattering, brain-exploding kiss they had just shared, “means to you.” He hesitated and she opened her mouth to say something but then he spoke again in that voice that was like . . . foreplay. “Cuz I already know what it means to me.”

Okay, and that was way hot for some reason....I think it's because he's being so assertive for a change.  Great, just great wendolf.

“I can get my lamp. It’s in the bedroom.”

For some reason, the lamp thing is still just cracking me up.  I can totally see her dragging that thing around.  Great call back.

Also, leave it to thoughtful Jim to bring her a TV.  I have to admit, part of me wanted him to be a little more involved with her getting set up in her apartment, but I don't feel that way now.  Once again, you've taken what's expected and flipped it over on it's head.  Stellar as usual.  Okay, I guess I'll leave a little room in case someone else wants to review!

Author's Response: Thanks Annika! I wasn\'t sure if Jim would really be that assertive (or that brave, for that matter), but he did give the Casino Night speech (not in this fic, I mean, but on the actual show), so I think he\'s got some bravery and assertiveness in there somewhere. ;-) As for him helping her with her apartment, I think that\'s what he\'d really like to stay and do. Help her set it up and then help her . . . well, properly \"accessorize\" all the rooms (not sure that\'s ever been used as a euphemism before, but). But he\'s playing it smart in this one. Make her miss you, Jimmy. Make her miss you bad ;-)

Thanks for reading and letting me know what you think!

I never get tired of reading first date fics.  This was so sweet.  Wasn't Pam kidding when she told him she didn't drink?  I thought she was just saying that in jest because of what happened at The Dundies.  My take, anyway.

Author's Response: Thank you! Exactly. It was a reference back to the dundies when she drank Jim\'s beer and he thought it was kind of cute and then she drank everybody else\'s drinks. It was meant to be kind of an inside joke that since she didn\'t order the drinks herself, she really believes she doesn\'t drink but Jim knows better. Good call.

Very moving.  And so believable.  I especially loved this:

She says, ‘I love you,’ without opening her eyes. And without letting him even respond to that with emphatic agreement, she says, ‘We’ll be just fine,’ and presses her lips to his throat as she moves her head to his shoulder.

She just knows, doesn't she?  (sigh)  Beautifully written.  I wonder what it would be like to be loved like that.

These are so fascinating.  You are doing a great job of capturing the essence of Pam's feelings in very few words.

There was a violent turbulence inside her that poured out of her eyes and down her cheeks. If this is what he had felt like for years and years she suddenly loved him even more.

She couldn’t quite explain why it didn’t feel like an accomplishment until he acknowledged it. His obvious selfless joy reminded her of a day of gold medals and blossoming love.

A dance outside with someone familiar and comfortable reminded her that she didn’t have to feel as broken as she did most days. She left with him and caught her breath, feeling better and worse all at once.

Just absolutely brilliant :)

Okay, this is just amazing.

I couldn't even pretend they weren't my underwear because the clever (for an 8th grader) little prick added a sign to the pole saying, "2 for $5 today only! These panties are the BEES KNEES!" Everyone knew that’s what Jim has always called me.

I love, love the underwear story, and that little gem made me laugh out loud.  As did many of your lines:

“Just get in, you're sweating a little and you kind of smell like a chain-smoking alcoholic French fry.”

Right...THAT'S WHY

If this is how it feels when you hate each other, then fuck love.

“Your brother is a dork. Why are you being so nice to me?”

“Because you’re letting me."

I ask what he's doing and he starts kissing down the side of my neck when he answers, “I wanna taste you."   (GUH.)

Well then.

One minute I'm laughing and the next I'm all um....well, you know....you've struck a perfect balance here between comedy and sexual tension.  I really, really adore this story and can't wait to read your next installment.  Now I'm off to another forum I frequent to rave about it so my friends will come and read it.  Seriously, you are really good at this.

Wendolf!  What a beautiful story.  I love your version of first person.  Every word was believable and in character.

I felt like a dog with the electric collar and invisible fence, who tries to wander off or roam further than he is allowed and gets stopped in his tracks by a sudden zap. A reminder. A reprimanding uh uh uh, that’s not where you’re supposed to be expressed in a less than subtle shock wave around his neck. That’s what my guilt felt like. I’d glance up at Jim, stare too long, start to think too much and then I’d suddenly realize what I was doing and ZAP. Back to reality. If I could pinpoint where the shock came from, I’d say the little metal collar around my ring finger. And I’d reluctantly return to where I had been trained to stay. Within my invisible fence.

Right on the money.  Describes it perfectly.

So many beautiful passages Wendolf.  Once again, you've raised the bar, my friend.  Thank you for this. :-)
