I'm a third year graduate student studying Child Development who's going to be stuck in grad school for another 2 years. Therefore, I resort to reading (and maybe writing a little too) mass quantities of fan fiction to get me through. Because as we all know, there may not be time for sleep, but there's ALWAYS time for fan fiction.

Such a lovely, heartwarming story. You capture the passion of life so beautifully. I loved the image of the mosaic. And you give us hope, not just for Jim and Pam and their future together (yay!), but for everyone who reads this story. I for one often feel like life is just a little too uncertain, that the future is just murky and unclear. This story really reminds me that life will turn out okay, and even better than I expect. It's so full of encouragement and hope for everything that can and will be. Truly inspiring.

Thank you Sweetpea for writing an incredible story and sharing it with us. I can't wait to read more of your work in the future.

Author's Response: PBS, you're killing me here.  I stayed up most of the night finishing this - I just had a few hours of sleep in the chaise in the living room with the laptop still on.  My neighbor's boyfriend came in at 12:30 am and waved at me, sitting here typing.  He left at 7:30 this morning and here I was, same spot, same clothes, typing away.  All that to say I'm overtired so I got all kinds of weepy when I read your review.  I'm so glad you likd the mosaic and it's so true and a good thing to remember when you get stuck in the daily drudgeries of life.  Taking a step back and saying it's all part of the big picture and the big picture is just lovely.  I can't thank you enough for coming along on this ride and being so encouraging and supportive.  :-*

Summary: Pam is Fancy and New and perhaps, in recent episodes, sometimes bordering on too Fancy and New. Her mother picks up on this right away at Thanksgiving dinner. This story includes some angst, and some of Pam not being perfect; maybe controversially so. I don't know, but Pam is still fun to write. And, I have Christmas cards to write and presents to buy so honestly, I will just enjoy reading your incredible stories this holiday season. Thanks to all of you who have read mine. SPOILERS for "Branch Wars" and season four episodes.

Still do not own Jim, Pam, or anything related to The Office or any other televised show. No copyright infringement is intended whatsoever; this is just for the sheer fun of it.

I loved the mom POV in this! It's so true to life, mom teaching daughter. I also loved the reflection on the perhaps not so great side to Fancy New Beesly. Change is good, but it can bring difficulties of its own. Beautifully done!

I have to admit, I've skipped over this fic for days because of the summary...but like others here, I'm so glad I did finally read it. I loved the snapshots of Jim's not-quite-complete life, as well as the little details you put into this which made it just so much more real (glass of milk for example). Truly, fabulous job. I really hope you continue to write here, I for one would love to read more of your work!

Author's Response: Thank you for your comment! I really appreciate you pointing out the small stuff, it's nice to get feedback on all the odds and ends I put in there. I'm totally going to change my summary - I didn't know what to put there, so I just winged it, but I don't want to scare people off! Thanks again:)

Summary: Past Featured StoryThis is a holiday inspired fic based on Season Two's Christmas Party. A look into what inspired Jim to get the teapot, and why Pam swapped Dwight for it. From there, it is an AU look at what happens when Pam realizes that Jim took back the infamous Christmas Card and why she's desperate to find out what Jim wrote.

I'm so happy that you love it PBS (PBeesly Sweater), and I really appreciate your kind words.  Is it bad to say I can't wait to see what happens next....hee hee since I'm writing I'm not entirely sure yet either.  :-)

Soooooo gooooooood! I feel like this is exactly how Pam would have handled things with Roy (and Jim) if she had just been a little braver in 2nd season. You completely nailed it! Fantastic job with all the characters here!
But, what's the plan? I need to know the plan!!
Please write more soon!!

Author's Response: PBS!  You don't know how happy this makes me.  Seriously this chapter just about killed me.  First I wrote it and it made me cry and I moped around a little.  Than I threw parts out and started over, and then I started over again.  Then I threw it to my betas feeling like it would never get posted.  I think it is just a hard thing to write, even though we all want JAM together, it's sad to think about ending a 10 year relationship.  Oh well, I guess what I mean to say is, thank you, this means so much to me that it rang true to you.  I worked really hard on it and it makes me happy that you liked it!

Oh my goodness...I have been waiting, wishing, hoping for more of this story, and you delivered with a more wonderful chapter than I could have ever imagined! Truly fantastic job with this chapter. I really liked the twist of Pam not reading Jim's card. That felt more honest somehow. And I loved the card she made...it made me smile to think of all the little inside jokes. :)

And her letter to him...just wow. Incredibly in character. I feel like if Pam had ever gotten the guts in Season 2, that's what she would have said. Perfection!

I can't wait for the conclusion! You've written this so well, I'm excited to see what you come up with in the end!

Author's Response:

Hey PBS, I'm glad you're still reading and I'm sorry it took forever for me to update.  I was really unhappy with this chapter for a long time, and this is the third version, so I'm glad you liked it.  I really was worried people would be mad that she didn't open the card, but I didn't see that as the right road for her.  and the letter?  Oh my, I was nervous and excited writing it?  I wonder if I need more of a life?  :-)

Thanks again for reading and I'm thrilled that you like it!

*Squees with joy!*
I was so excited when I saw you had finished this story!
So great! Such a lovely, fluffy ending to a wonderful take on that mysterious Christmas card. :)

Author's Response: PBS, I am glad you still reading after such a long break!  I'm gald you liked the end and that you liked the card.  I had such a hard time with it.  Literally I spend evenings reading it thinking "Come on Jim, what would you say"....does that make me crazy...oh well, probably.  Glad you enjoyed the end and thanks for reading all the chapters and staying with me!

You're going to write more soon right? Cause I need to know if Jim and Pam ever get to that cabin and if Andy ever breaks down Angela with his horrible poetry!
Oh, and snow angels are probably the best thing ever. :)

Okay, so I realize I just commented, but here's another one!
This is awesome...stuck in a powerless office reeking of garlic with Andy the wannabe Shakespearean poet, Micheal-the-vampire-slayer and his trusty guard dog Dwight...of course it could be worse...you could be trapped in an elevator with Angela...oh wait...

I love this and I can't wait to see what genius plot twists you have in mind for them now!

Thanks for brightening my finals cramming session with some hilarious Office antics! :)

Author's Response: I\'m glad you\'re liking it. The reason this story exists is because of my own finals cramming sessions (who needs eight hours of sleep, really?).

Nicely done. Poor Toby.
One thing though...don't vending machines run on electricity? (You can totally say they run on battery power, or backup generators or something and I'll believe you!!) :)
Great job, such fun to read. Can't wait for more!
Best of luck with the wisdom teeth!

Author's Response: There are actually battery powered vending machines. I did a little Google searching to see if it would work and my uncle (who used to fill them as a part time job) confirmed that he\'s seen a few, so I was pretty relieved that everything would work out. Thanks for the review (and wisdom teeth support)! :)

Wow. So sad, and yet so very accurate to how life can be sometimes.

I LOVED this statement:
"The closure they both wanted -- no, needed -- is striking in its finality. It’s almost unreal. But their time passed them by."

Haven't we all felt that before...whew.
Really nice job with this, so simple, so sad, and yet so true in its message.

Oh Angela, so true to form.
And of course the Jim/Dwight interaction was fabulous.
Can you do a second chapter with them after they come back from their wedding? I wanna hear where they went and how he proposed! :)
Fantastic job! Thanks for the much needed laugh!

Author's Response: hahaha...I don't know. We'll have to say.  I think I'm pretty keen on the idea of them keeping things a bit private between the two of them. I just see the both of them being rather protective of their little relationship....but we'll see. Yet you also dealt with the ups and downs of getting to know one another and the growth of a relationship...I know I've fought over many a stupid thing in my relationships (things like IKEA instruction manuals...brilliant!) and you did a wonderful job of highlighting those necessary moments in even the most perfect life.
Fabulous job! I look forward to more from you!

Author's Response: sitting here with a winter coat on (inside, haha) and a blanket, I know exactly what you mean about April. Which is why I wanted to write this, partially :) And I also just put together three chairs from Ikea in what turned out to be a two and a half hour production, haha.
