Ha ha, love that she let Roy think that Jim was gay so he wouldn't mind her spending time with him. And then, finally, Pam speaks her mind! Can't wait for Jim's response. I was SO thrilled to see an update on this story. I just re-read it a few weeks ago in the hopes that there would be an update soon, and today I was rewarded with not one, but TWO chapters! Woo-hoo! Author's Response: Yep, I could never quite figure out why Roy was so complacent with Pam having such a good looking guy for a "Best Friend." So this was the theory I made up!

"Lean on Me" is one of my all time favorites, and to now have it associated with Jam, well, that makes it even better. And I love that he realizes the irony that even though she chose that song because he was her rock, he's now the one who needs her strength. Awesome.
I've never experienced morphine so I found this chapter pretty enlightening in that area. Sounds freaky. And scary.

Wow, I read this story in one night (a work night no less; didn't get to bed until after 1 am!)and I was amazed at the depth of character development and how consistent the flow of it was. The characters grew without changing their true substance, if you get what I'm trying to say with that. The Jim/Franny connection was so great, and the scene where Franny learns at 15 that he's not her biological father was just so well done. I could just picture how Jim looked when Franny was taking it out on him. Very descriptive writing. I only discovered this site a few weeks ago, but you and this story are now in my favorites. I'll be looking to see what other stories you've done as soon as I catch up on my sleep!
Those of us with no talent for this kind of thing thank you for writing!
Author's Response: That was really my goal while writing this story, to disrupt sleeping schedules. I know it\'s not honest work, but a girl\'s gotta stick to what she\'s good at.
